I find great comfort in seeing elders, former elders, ministerial sevants, bethelites, (ALL of them) post.
I am the wife of a former elder, daughter of elder, sister of elder, mother of elder etc etc.
Trying to accept all the years I have wasted is hard. Trying to help family members in various states of awareness (and non awareness) is hard.
Hearing from these honest men makes them look very courageous to me.

My choice wasn't available. I wanted to check "The Elders". They don't follow their "elders manual", instead they do what they want based on their own whims. Most of it is either their attitudes personally or politics within. They are especially ruthless with young people. I guess they cant really fight back and their sins are usually so "black and white" so to speak. I remember in one weeks time I saw two young people guilty of the same thing handled by the elders. One didn't even have a judicial committee and the other was publicly reproved. The difference? The first ones mom was besties with the C.Os wife. The second one didn't have any such card to play.
They talk about the evil world and all the injustice but the truth is, their is more justice in the world. It is among the elders that you will find true injustice.

i did it 20 years ago, but the elders still remember what i did, sometimes i wish they never knew about it.

Worst thing I ever did. I ended up being publically reproved for something that wasnt even judicial. By the time that all became clear the announcement had already been made.
As if it couldnt get any worse, NO ONE was willing to admit that a mistake had been made. They knew it had happened and even told me so "off the record" but not one word of explanation or apology. Not the CO and not the elders involved.
Apparently the flock is supposed to confess and take whatever punishment is deemed necessary but the elders dont have to clear up their "mistakes".

It does seem like it is somewhat of a lost cause to try to get a fresh eye to look at anything you might bring up in a letter.
So.........if you are dealing with some corruption on a local level, there really is nowhere to go with it is there?

I personally hope it is some kind of "plan" to reign in the free wheeling elders that are "allowed" to carry out all their (the Societys) Judicial decrees, frankly.
Under training, plus the political mindset most elders have is what is driving people away IMO.
Yes, doctrinal changes would look very significant but the real loss of believers is occuring quietly one by one and family by family at the hands of elders who bungle their sheperding responsibilities.
