Cognitive Dissonance and my JW Mum!
by lurkernomore inso, my mum is a massively obedient little dub!
i knew this before showing more negativity towards the borg.
i recently fell into the trap of shooting my mouth off about all the things that i felt were wrong with the borg, after her ass kissing comments got the better of me.. my other half's grandmother has also learned ttatt over the past few months as has most of her immediate familly in fact.

I think sometimes with older ones it is nearly impossible for them to think about things clearly.
Life at that age gets to be about comfort, really. They like their routines and for things to stay the same.
Who wants to let go of the structure? The social support? The "hope" that it is all true?
So what if you leave your group, leave any chance of "hope" just to be alone and lonely and "right"?
How is that appealing?
The above is what I am guessing older ones feel, so that determines what they will "think".

I still love Kingdom Melodies.
by POs Son inok, at the risk of getting flamed, i have been out for over 20 years, and still love kingdom melodies.
i remember them for the good times, the conventions and assemblies, hearing the orchestral versions, imagining the orchestra playing.
some pieces were really nice.

PO's son, you must be refering to the old Kingdom Melodies...?
IF you are, I agree with you - if you mean the new ones - Im worried about you!

Why The Watchtower Must Abolish Judicial Committees
by metatron insome years ago, i upset some crypto-watchtower apologists by stating that the organization must eventually either abolish the co arrangement or radically change it because it creates a direct chain of liability by chain of command and makes them a hierarchy (without catholic level assets or influence to support such a structure).. i would make a similar argument with regard to judicial committees.
i do not contend that the watchtower would get rid of these repellent anachronisms simply because they are unethical in form and use but rather that they represent an increasing liability/obstacle to the organization's survival.. why?.
1) such committees tend to open up all sorts of legal challenges and dangers.

What an awesome post metatron.
So is there any chance that their latest move to have elders appointed by C.O.s instead of headquarters going to help them avoid legal ramifications?
I hope not.

Is new light coming again?
by justme67 ini just turned in my resignation letter to my congregation a few weeks ago.
last week, 2 elders called me to say they received my letter and would like to meet with me to discuss my concerns.
in my letter, i said i had found out about all the child abuse cases that were going on and that i didnt agree with their policy of disfellowshipping.

LOL Steve, I love it!
I keep hearing there is more coming and I would think that they would want to build to some kind of crescendo for the autumn of the epic 2014.
If that is the case, the big stuff is still ahead.
So far, this is the quietest celebration of 100 years of anything that I have ever seen.

Rebranding of the Watchtower to JW.org - how long in the works?
by truthseeker inthe transformation from watchtower to jw.org is nothing short of remarkable.. animated cartoons (caleb and sophia), the new jw.org slogan, international convention websites (featuring previously unthinkable entertainment in the kingdom hall) - how long do you think this has been in the works for?.
i feel very uneasy about what is happening - it's so sudden, seems like it all happened within the space of a year.. i sense some intelligence about all this, as if it has been some carefully orchestated performance - to dazzle and distract.. the kingdom ministry of 1999 was totally against the internet and now they seem to embrace it along with tablets and smartphones.. why the sudden change?
do you think it is anything to do with social media?.

Because he is one of the collective group that has been telling the rest of us that we couldnt have any?
That would be my reason.

Boy is that ever true!
I remember in years past thinking "yes were tough on issues but we really stand for something!"
Where I first felt the shifting sand was elders just seeming to be a law unto themselves.
Then, C.O.s that didnt seem to have as much "oomph", meanwhile the number of DFd people just going up and up and up.
In addition, the quality and depth of the literature started to go down down down
By the time the Pherrell Williams dancing on the stage routine hit I was beyond surprise - ALMOST.
Now, I think there is nothing left that would surprise me. Finally.
