That is great to hear Bonsai!
Does anyone know what power the Commission has? Do they just recommend or can they enforce?

so i have not reported a single hour of fs or family worship in over 8 months.
have not given a single comment in a meeting for over a year.
a few weeks ago, my brother in law, who is an ms now, approached me.
I like the idea of canceling at the last minute on the arrogant elder.
Go ahead and do the one with your BIL since you sense he has no agenda if you want to.
(as long as they are not on the same night) or maybe you already got that one with your BIL out of the way....
The nice thing about canceling is you dont get in any real tangible trouble but you sure will tick off the arrogant elder and he will have to work a little bit to get the demo covered by someone else...it will be good for him, lol.
the governing body have painted themselves in a corner, so to speak.
if they acknowledge their response to abuse claims was insensitive, unloving and inadequate they are denying the belief that "god's way" is best and risk losing abuse cases.
if they stick with it and say it is "god's way according to the bible" they will be seen as cult leaders and risk losing abuse cases.
Sadly, I think this will have a small long term effect in Australia for a few years.
I dont think it will have any effect whatsoever in the U.S.
No more so than the 60 Minutes (was it called that?) that aired the interview with Barbara Anderson.
I think we are excited but I dont see this as any big long term game changer as far as JWs waking up.
The wolves in control will probably have to change their policy a bit, so there is that to be gained I guess.
I really hope I have this whole thing figured wrongly though.
i haven't married anyone in over a decade but i was the officiant for a wedding this past weekend.
Thats great!
Congratulations to you and to the happy couple! DId they like getting married by a little red guy albeit a very cool one?

A) They are not going to apologize
(They are Christs brothers, why should they?)
B) They are very busy doing the "Lords" work
(Such as demanding a retraction from the newspaper in Ghana that printed a woman died from no blood policy)
dino ali, elder, taking the stand now in the australian hearings.. he's talking about interaction with disfellowshipped persons.. watch it live: .

Yes it is. Extremely pro JW
Witness My Furyo
@ konceptual99, so someone there blatantly lies about what was said to put a positive spin on things?
I just went there and read the post. It is by a (JW) woman in Australia. She mentions this was on the news on her television and as she was sitting at her computer she began to type notes on what she was seeing and hearing. She then says that the things she is putting in her post that are her opinions are italicized. The statement we are discussing here as to its validity was in the italicized part of her post. I have no idea if incident happened or didnt.
There is a 50/50 chance.
I do find it interesting that she wrote one sentence that is clearly her "opinion" and she neither "italicized" it or indicated in any way that it was her opinion which casts some doubt on her accuracy in general.
I am bolding her words to differentiate them from my own but the only part she italicized is the last paragraph.
Also,
I highlighted in yellow the sentence that she didnt italicize (after telling the reader that she was italicizing opinion statements) in yellow so it will stand out for all of you here.
Here is her post as she wrote it:
Luckily I was at my computer, so wrote down as much as I could before the session moved on to another subject. (Things in italics are my own thoughts and interpretations).
The female reporter spoke to the cameras saying.....JWs are a tightly controlled group of people who are urged to keep away from the rest of society except for when we do our charity work....We are controlled from Brooklyn by a group of 8 men appointed by God.......Each country has its own group of elders who oversee what happens in that country......each complaint has to have two witnesses......there have been 1006 perpetrators since the 1950s, and none have been reported to secular authorities.....the organisation could be criminally liable for concealment.
All I could think of was that this reporter obviously took most of her information off some website.
This morning A JW elder, Max Horley, said he destroyed notes from a meeting about the assault of BCB. The destruction was to protect the congregation and individuals involved.
Brother Horley then turned the tables and spoke directly to one member of the commission pointing out that he understood that that members organisation also destroyed confidential evidence - actually asking 'Isnt that what you do?' The commission member confirmed that his organisation also did so. (That particular question and answer was NOT included in neither the ABC nor the Sydney Morning Herald reports of yesterday or today.)
-end quote-
my wife's mother just related to us an interview she heard during the recent three day convention that she just had to share with us.
a brother and his wife have, for over 20 years, shunned their daughter because she ran off and eloped with a worldly guy.
while openly sobbing, he related how difficult it has been to shun his daughter and avoid unnecessary contact with her and her family.
I know a JW whose stated reason for not getting to know his grandchildren was
"because they are going to die at Armageddon anyway if my daughter doesnt get reinstated"
this strange couple was seen on main st. in vancouver, b.c.
a casual observer would be hard pressed to figure out their relationship.
the man seems a little young for the woman.
there are a few jw's i know who believe that when the gb takes a decision this is what happens:.
each member goes into a separate room, prays about something.
after that, they get together and they all have the same thought about the issue.. what are the craziest ideas you heard about the way they are "guided".
First they put some paper in a brazier and if the smoke blows white then they........
oh wait a minute!
a friend of mine that is df went to hall today someone held door for him he thanked them ,soon after and elder aproached wispered in his ear "you cant talk to anyone" the pharisees .
Well not that it will make a difference but the elder is wrong.
A person saying excuse me when they sneeze or step on someones foot - or a thank you is not breaking their restrictions as one disfellowshipped.
Its conversation that is "unscriptural" according to them. This would be anything conversational however brief, including saying a "greeting" such as "Hello" or "How Are You?" .
So they Pharisee elder just gulped a camel and strained at a gnat. He doesnt even know the finer technacalities of his own rules he is entrusted with enforcing.
