Who is your " I am" that your voice should be heard?

i was recently thinking before i became " mike" i was an innocent baby, then as the days passed slowly by, i developed a sence of " iam".

as the days moved forward my body, slowly developed a a "sex organ" whilst my mind took on a sence of " emotional" and " intellectual" i am" .

this allowed me to become my current " i am?.

I love the way you are not afraid to address the hard to answer questions.

You are an explorer of the intangible. That takes a lot of courage.

as to your questions...I will have a go at it.

I feel myself changing daily so it will be interesting to come back in a year and see if I still believe any of my own narrative as laid out here in three simple questions!

A ) Who are You?

currently a person unfettered by religious man made rules. Feels naked, feels scary feels exhilarating.

B) Why do you believe as you do?

I have always had a strong inner voice even as a child. When I have followed that voice things work out well. That voice spoke very faintly during my whole adult JW life...questioning. disagreeing. Now that voice is no longer squelched. As to what I believe , I am slowly putting together a belief system that honors what I am a part of (nature, animals, other people) and knows what not to listen to - any human who says "they have it all figured out".

C) Why do you think it important other people believe what you believe?

I dont think it is important to me that people believe what I do. I would much rather be live as a student than try to set myself up as a teacher of others.

Convention coming to a city near YOU...

it almost comes out as a promotional ad for the jw convention.

the 'current events' editing staff of this paper likely has no idea what their promoting.

Could they make not donating a disfellowshipping offence?

i'm wondering at how far the borg could go in begging for money?

their halls are already resembling the"money changers in the temple".

as they get sued more and more due to their pedophilic paradise their coffers will be ever more drained.

They aleady have "tithing lite" in the form of those forms you are supposed to fill out saying what you will contribute.

I cant remember what the forms are called.

i want to spare you a long post about my background.

because this topic is about something else.a small information is that i knew ttatt before i got married.

but then i somehow pushed it back for quite some time because i didnt want to change my life and it was convenient to instantly meet new people when you move into a new city.couple of years into my marriage and seeing all the changes in the jw my thirst for ttatt resurfaced.

Prince: frustration and relief

i haven't posted in a long time, but all this news re: prince has brought up alot of "stuff" for me.

having been a born-in 3rd generation until being disfellowshipped, losing all of my family and friends i had since birth in one big go, i find myself going between frustration, and honestly some feelings of resentment, and ...relief...regarding prince (who, by the way, i am not disparaging personally, just, as most of us know, he would have been held up as the perfect example of what not to be by the watchtower organization and the double-standard/hypocrisy is rather stunning).

resentment/frustration, due to my personal experiences and those of many i knew.

I really relate to your post AFree,

I am beyond shocked at the audacity I have been seeing on the part of the Org.

The welcoming parties and dancing on stage for the international assemblies.

The JW . Org flags flying over a rented building for last years summer conventions.

The ARC fiasco - claiming they are not the "only" ones teaching the truth, (whaaat?)

and on and on it goes.

This ridiculous bending of principles and precepts they sat out at the Annual Meeting (no metro sexual, no tight pants, no colored socks) to accommodate "Prince fans" and by that I am NOT referring to fans of his music, I am talking about his JW groupies that put this Kingdom Hall service together,

I am shocked and disgusted but overall I am relived like you. There must be so much in fighting at the top that the result is no one is flying the plane.

Let it become more and more obvious!

Does anyone out there know from personal experience that some elders take anti-depressants?

Yes. Three of the six elders in the local Hall take them.
One of them falls asleep during the meetings but he says is his diabetes that causes it, not his Zoloft.
Guess we'll have to take his word for it. After all, he is one of the "glorious ones"....

Elder that is taking anti-depressants, Xanax and drinks like a fish can in 'good conscience' disfellowship someone for smoking cigarettes or marijuana.

Thats it in a nutshell Sparky.

So much for the Word being "alive" and able to separate soul from spirit and jont from marrow.

Apparently, whatever the bad worldly government sets as the standard is ok!

Even if its not!

I really had this point brought home to me recently. A sister who is very "in" said that she is growing very worried because well over half the congregation is on prescription meds.

You know what that means.....if half are admitting to it well.....thats the tip of the iceburg no doubt.

Thats a really good question Londo. I guess it does provide for a lot of wiggle room and lets the elders use discernment (not always a good thing).

I heard a statistic recently and I am loosely paraphrasing here...that 1/7 of the world uses 6/7ths of the prescription drugs and most of those are pain/mood drugs with a lesser of antibiotics.

I dont know about other places but the medically prescribed addiction problem in the US is starting to remind me of poppyies, opium dens and the silk road.

People worry about the legalization of pot and dont seem to notice the drugging down of millions through prescriptions.

This is a VERY hot topic and people get defensive right out of the gate but heres the thing...other than the last 30 years - humanity lived without it. Now we cant imagine living without it.

What is that?

As for Prince...his pain killer addiction is well documented throughout his adult life.

Having a medical condition that causes pain and legitimizes the use of pain killers in a therapeutic way, ends up being a nice foil for anyone who wants to overlook or mask the obvious about his life.
