The biggest thing that bothered me was the absolute power of the elders. You cant even appeal any decision they make except a disfellowshipping.
And that is just a formality most of the time.

What is the main "idea" of the bible?
by KateWild inas jws we were often told what the theme of the bible is, we were taught that it was the promised seed.. i was recently asked the question.... what is the main "idea" of the bible?.
for me the whole purpose of the bible is about control.
it features a god that punishes and rewards.

trying to seperate what I was taught (JWs) from what I would think on my own is the theme of the Bible...
I would think the theme is a lot of stories about people and how they lived their lives and the choices they made and general principles of living.

Are you trying to bait some believers here snare? Well I am taking the bait. I believe God created humans and is now indifferent to our sufferring, however through his design of the ear humans have innovatively been able to create the implants. God's creation helped humans help one another IMO.

Seems like a lot of people who have problems fitting in to mainstream society are finding a "home" in the congregation. It is a very structured life and people "have" to show you equality.

Circuit Overseer wakes up, packs his bags and leaves!
by Anony Mous ini just heard this about a co i knew back in the day before he was even a co. he must be in his mid-late 40's now, my mother told me the story as she knows the family very well (the entire family has gone 'apostate' including several elders, circuit overseers and missionaries - this was an "example" family, always on the stage etc).. he wasn't 'feeling well' so he took time off from his co duties.
that week he packed his suitcase, told his wife he can't do it anymore and he's leaving, leaves her the car and the house and went to live in a small apartment, bought a small car and a week later got a decent job.. this was very recent so not everybody within the org has heard yet what happened..

40 Years Today
by Still Totally ADD inyes that's right reopened mind and me have been married 40 years ago today.
we had a little party today at our uu congregation.
we brought wine for the pot luck dinner we had today.
