Have You Found Your Place in the World?
by Rainbow_Troll inwe were all told when we were in the watchtower that we should be grateful to be part of such a loving family.
we were told that just beyond the superficial glamour of the world was a quagmire of despair, emptiness and pain waiting to suck us in.
obviously, we took that part with a mountain of salt or we wouldn't be here today.

Don't forget to remove Terrence O'Brien from the Australian total publisher numbers. The governing body have expelled him toSiberiaPapua New Guinea.Interesting information. How did you find this. It seems very significant to me because it is a silent admission that they are displeased with him.
Why would they be displeased if this is all about nothing, as they are trying to pretend?

Just because that was a quote doesn't mean that he wasn't dissing women. He's the asshat that chose to quote that. He put pursuing women down. He clearly didn't respect the pursuit of a relationship. That's also just one of the things he said. Guy clearly didn't think highly of women. I'm surprised to see women taking up for him.Hi dubstepped,
Not sure who the "women" (as in plural) are who are taking up for him in your view but to be totally transparent and clear -
I wanted the entire story.
What he said, its source of origin, what he meant, etc.
I dont bond through "pile on" threads or through group hate.
I am here for encouragement and most importantly an education in to this religion and its leaders.
I want to take deadly aim at the hydra that is this religion and to me, calm cool factual reason is the way to do that.
Pushing the "woman" button just simply isnt enough. I needed clarification.

Millie210, you are correct, Rutherford was quoting from a poem called "The Vampire" by Rudyard Kipling. It's online if anyone wants to look.
In the poem a man is enamored of a faithless woman and can't see it but his friends can. The phrase that Rutherford quoted he did quite accurately since he was discussing losing out on the heavenly calling to chase after something not worth the time and effort. Rutherford was not being sexist, he wasn't dissing women, he was pointing out what a loss it would be to pursue such a course.
Quoting well-known poetry is a technique used in public speaking by persons with a classical education. It's the unenlightened who tear him apart in their ignorance.Thank you AnneB. I thought that is what I remembered but I appreciate the specifics.
I have no respect for Rutherford but I want to stay within factual bounds in my "disrespect". If I get any thing wrong at all (saying he is responsible for an original statement when he was merely quoting - however repugnant the statement) I discredit myself as a person who is factual and I do not want to do that.
My family has always known me as a factual and credible person until I "left the truth" and it is more important than ever that I demonstrate factual behavior.
Fortunately, there is enough damning evidence to convict this religion (as well as Rutherford) without having to resort to being wildly inflammatory to get a reaction.

I'm Dating . . .

i count the venture as a business expense and jws who frequent this fine diner know i am not on a date.
there are no smirks, no snickering, no knowing glances.

Two (circumstantial) lines of evidence for the real motivation behind the Russian lobbying?
by doubtfull1799 in1. in bro sandersons latest video (in which he shows a very impressive skill with russian) he mentions two likely results of the imminent russian ban: the liquidation of the branch office and its assets, and the individual brothers capacity to worship freely.
no prizes for guessing which one gets mentioned first!.
2. why have the gb never attempted in the past, and are not interested in attempting now, such a letter writing campaign in other communist countries where the work is under similar restrictions, like china, or vietnam?

I wonder if they are also massively hoping this letter writing will take the focus off the Australian Royal Comission findings.

The direct expenses associated with this exercise (cleaning supplies, cost of truck transportation, transporting a film crew to document the whole thing, etc.) and the indirect expenses (the cost of people's time, their transportation and food expenses, etc.) probably total more than what it would have cost to simply rent a facility with the appropriate number of chairs.
Great point!

Observations From an Ex-Elder Part 3 - Searching for the Lost Sheep

I think you deserve the consideration of lots of follow up to "try to help you" even though I know you dont really want or need that.
Problem is, theyve got nothing.
They dont have any resources for helping people who have walked away.
I spent 40 years within and am now "without", gladly and by choice (what they would call inactive not DFd).
The most effort extended on my behalf has been by the lowly ones in the Kingdom Hall. And their attempts are woefully trite and composed of little one liners from the Org and emotional thoughts of their own.
Thats it.
As for Elders and C.O.s, they act stern as though I am a traitor (perhaps I am but how do they know that without asking?)
They also act a little afraid which is somewhat amusing.
Nice reading your thoughts on your own experience. I imagine many of us here can relate so very much to your words.
