Hi KimD and welcome!
Very glad you are here.
this is my first post.
i feel intimidated because i don't really know computers to well and i hope that i don't break any rules.
i became a jw in 1981. i left in 91. i have so many questions.
Hi KimD and welcome!
Very glad you are here.
hi there this is my first post as i’m not sure what to do.
my family (both sides) are well known in our circuit and very dedicated to the truth.
but we’re relatively normal people and i love them all so much.
First let me say you are going to be fine.
I was SO scared when I was first starting out and this site was a great place for that so Im glad youre here and posting with us!
I remember some great advice here once was NEVER speak against the Organization. Even if you say you are weak and doubting God (or his existence) they wont disfellowhip you, based on the Bibles saying to "speak consolingly to the depressed souls" (1 Thess. 5:14)
But ANY criticism of the elders or the literature or the Organization is in its own category and puts you under watch as a possible apostate.
So unless you relish that whole scene just sidestep it.
Also, even if you are very beloved to your Uncle, he must put your "eternal well being" (which really means the Organizations standards) ahead of any familial feelings. Keep that in mind always in your interactions. Be shrewd not sentimental that way.
And welcome to the forum!
just got the heads up from montreal that 16 congregations will cease to exist from 1 april 2019. also 3 kh are no longer going to be used anymore.
this was a major announcement for many and upsetting.
wonder where the r& f are going to be dispersed with what sacrifices in the way!.
Spiral - millie210, sorry, I hit my mouse and accidentally gave you a dislike. Please disregard that.@waton, yes, the bOrg has often rearranged congregations in an effort to break up cliques, the kind that cause trouble. I can remember back in the day the CO rearranging the congregations, but the powerful/popular ones just disregarded the "direction" and went to the congregation they wanted to go to. Everything was back as it was before the rearrangement within six months. Now, with the sale of KHs added in, that would be much harder.
I think a lot of people will just quit going if it's too hard. Things aren't what they once were, and the bOrg just really isn't much "fun" anymore, even for the devoted.
Thanks Spiral,
Perhaps for some, this will be their opportunity to fall through the cracks so to speak!

the final part of the october, 2018 annual meeting has now been released of jw org tv.the following includes a transcript of mark sanderson's speech for those that don't want to listen to the broadcast.. we have long held that the land of decoration is the "spiritual estate of jehovah's people"... now brothers what can we say about all these events that have taken place (referring to recent events in russia) in such a short period of time?
well, truly, if you're a student of the history of god's organization, you can say these events are unprecedented in our history.
we've never seen a country or a territory with 175,000 witnesses of jehovah go under ban.
So what would they be saying if Russia hadn't taken the buildings?
Would they be back to talking about what color socks brothers wear and how sisters shouldn't marry anyone who isn't a "servant"?
who remembers taking field service records?.
"finnish court orders jehovah's witnesses to end illegal data gathering".
https://yle.fi/uutiset/osasto/news/finnish_court_orders_jehovahs_witnesses_to_end_illegal_data_gathering/10558162.
That was funny resolute!
It was interesting to see in the article that the Finnish court based their decision on the findings of the European Court of Justice.
JWs are big on data gathering, Its too bad something can't be done about their abuse of data mining and private information within the organization but at least the rights of the public at large are being addressed by this decision.
I did not know him but I love reading about the relationship you shared.
Thank you, Vienne for honoring him with your words
the watchtower bible and tract society uses its governing body to force jehovah's witnesses to accept their flip-flop beliefs and doctrines.
their history of conflicting false teachings and practices have left members in confusion.. in this video, david splane blames jehovah god for all the changing doctrines.
"jehovah is driving the chariot.".
Sadly, I think he believes it.
so i moved out of my small town into the big city and staying with an older sister i’ve been having some fun in the big city wink wink.
but i have a good standing with the congregation in the city they are nice but don’t really pay a lot of attention to me.
i have been dating a “worldly guy” who is amazing love him but the older sister said he wasn’t allowed in the house.
Good question Stan. I assumed Pink was female because of the statement about living with an older sister. I thought that meant older sister as defined by a "congregation older sister" not a sibling.
Fortunately, the advice above applies whether Pink is male or female. Be cautious, dont burn your bridges, educate yourself as to the facts about JWs and so on.
Pink,
I love the advice you got from Pete ZaHut. Hope it helps you as a guide.
AND he is "pizza" just like you - so common ground!
just saying i’m still alive and greeting everyone, veterans and newcomers to this forum.. 2018 was a year with a lot of turmoil in my life; me and my wife separated, then reunited months later, and spent the second half of the year healing the emotional wounds from that episode.
that, along with a record year in terms of my business meant that choices had to be made regarding my time, and i decided to focus on my marriage instead of other endeavours.
it seemed to have paid off.
What a year you have had!
Really glad to see you back.
