Foreign-language literature is now meant to be printed from one's own printer, and the memorial invites are partly printed on home printers.

What Term Can Replace "Publisher" ?
by OnTheWayOut inindulge the possibility that, as profits from printed materials become thinner, watchtower might want to stop having members carry printed materials to the homes of many.
i know it will probably go through more phases of "cheapening" the materials (softcover books, pamplets instead of brochures, flyers instead of pamphlets) but let's consider the idea that they will one day cease delivering anything printed.. the door-to-door work is huge in controlling members and monitoring loyalty.
pioneers are their biggest supporters.

'Where else is there to go'? Thoughts I had this morning--and evening...
by sd-7 ini was just thinking of something this morning.
when presented with the possibility that the witnesses could be wrong, the typical response is 'where else is there to go?
' in short, 'if not us, who?

I sent a letter to the branch one. Then, about a year later, I read a Watchtower article, and someone with my name made a very familiar comment. I dug out the letter - the quote matched two sentences from my letter, without the whole paragraph in between. If that was me, they didn't change my name.
The weird thing was, no one ever contacted me to ask what I thought of being quoted. The even weirder thing was, at the time that must have gone to print, I was in a judicial committee. Makes me wonder a lot about other experiences I read.
I have also been interviewed for an assembly item, and my experience was stretched to match the experience wanted - chunks were missed out. I've also heard people be interviewed and know the experiences were exagerated, or well, even heard someone else give my own ministry experience!

The old lady is brainwashed and doesn't understand what she is doing; likely means well is some warped way.
An elder knocked my door to see how I was - I got in the shower

Lawyers: Can a Jehovah's Witness sue the Watchtower Society for Civil Rights violations?
by Balaamsass ini have been on boards and run businesses, and been reminded by more than one cpa and attorney to cross ts and dot i s regarding corporate requirements or we would become liable to lawsuits.. therefore, my questions to any attorneys and cpas, and the keen minds on this board, are the following;.
i have been reading old threads on this site about watchtower society irregularities regarding tax filings with state and federal agencies.
evidently, a number of filings for different years were identical (unlikely if not impossible) or missing.

I wish we could sue them for something

Catching the Manipulation in Sundays Watchtower Article
by Butterflyleia85 ininspired by many on jwn board, my goal is to every sunday study the article and find the manipulative parts.
if you would like to join me that would be great!
we can then find them together and then find what the scriptures or insights truly means with research, our own understanding, or maybe how it should be interpreted to ones self.

These Watchtower articles blatantly hammer home a few points
1. We are appointed by God's holy spirit - you are good sheep Do whatever we say, don't think, yes, don't use your brain, (sheep don't!!) ...otherwise, you are an arrogant sinner who must be annihilated by a big happy bolt of lightening at the Big A !
2. Keep away from porn / apostate material that now is so easy to access from the horrid internet thing we can frighten into doing what we say; it's drawing you away - Satan draws you out away subtly a bit by bit, or do the elders push away slowly ..oopss
3. Anything negative about life outside of Jehovah's Witnesses - exagerated - we are happy (Of course, we are! We just love being raped by elders, and getting told to shut up and stop being clever, and living in near poverty, so we can talk to people about the Bible, only for elders to push them away?! )
4. Knock more doors - nothing else matters; just knock! Money will fall out the sky; Jehovah will pay all your bills, so "be like a good little kid and leave it to daddy" (the CO said that at pioneer school) - if you do find yourselves without food, unable to pay the rent, with a broken down car, blame Satan, but keep smiling like a good little boy while some rich elders ignore you
Remember - if any thing happens:
If it's good - praise Jehovah - If it's bad - blame Satan -

Lurkers - can the "increasing light" excuse cover TERRIBLE non-scripturally based advice?
by cedars inthis thread is directed at those of you who are "lurking".
perhaps you visit this website frequently because you know something is wrong with the watch tower society, but you don't feel you know enough yet to form a solid opinion.. as you are aware, the society regularly uses the "increasing light" concept to excuse any scriptural advice or prophetic understanding that is subsequently reversed or changed.
put simply, the governing body would have us believe that god's holy spirit, which is guiding the organization, is deliberately feeding false scriptural information to the society as a "makeweight" until true understanding is revealed at a later stage (at this point, i would add that none of the scriptures quoted by the society in support of "increasing light" suggest that god's holy spirit would act in such a manner, but this is for you to discover for yourselves).. with all of the above in mind, please may i draw your attention to this advice, which was printed in the august 5th, 1979 awake!:.

The lack of interest in family matters by elders is worrying, though ironically, we will probably find ourselves also moaning that they show too much interest. Though I do know of a number of Jehovah's Witness elders that treat their wives like servants (hitting them, treating them more as a toy than a friend) and also wives who treat their husbands in an unhealthy way, but no one cares.

Sneak into a Kingdom Hall library... and err... this sounds like a secret agent job, but you could look at the bound volume and when no one looks, just quietly put it in your already open briefcase and just walk out... if you act confident, no one is likely to suspect anything.... ask a brother some Bible questions or something to distract him from the library trip you just made.... the awkward bit may be getting into the library, especially without anyone accompaning you.
