Who has NOT read Combatting Cult Mind Control or Crisis of Conscience?
by Mad Sweeney ina lot of people here have read and highly recommend ccmc by steven hassan and coc by ray franz, myself included.
i don't know how i would have handled leaving the borg without that knowledge.. so thinking that got me to wondering, who here has not read them (or has read one but not the other), and how are you coping with exiting the borg?
did you get counseling?

Why on earth is Crisis of Conscience so expensive?!? I want to read it, but I cannot spend $25 on it. And some copies are over $100?!?! If I can find the time I will try the library, but ordering from amazon is my usual MO because it's so easey...

Lining up to kiss the bride is not allowed. Watchtower Question from Readers.
by ThomasCovenant inmany, if not all, of the witness weddings i attended in the last few years had the 'tradition' of the bride and groom and members of the wedding party lined up to greet the guests into the reception room.. it was also a faily common practice to kiss the bride.
congratulations and thanks were exchanged.
the usual pleasantries, thanks for coming etc.. well here is a quote i just found from the watchtower 15th may 1952 page 319-320, questions from readers.

It amazes me that the only things ever allowed are to go in service, go to the meetings, and sing kingdom songs or TALK about going in service, to the meetings and sing kingdom songs. What a life!
Please excuse me while I go do some sexy dancing to jazz music now. That stuff really gets me going!

That is love Magwitch! Gross, but still love!
For me love is open mouth, slobbery beyond all reason, gummy, baby kisses. I can't get enough of them!!

GREAT post!! Even after being out 7/8 years I have so many irrational fears that hold me up. It'll be so freeing to get rid of those are and start going KA-RAY-ZY!
MindMelda -- your post was helpful too!! I espically like these points.
4. "Worldly" people have helped me when I was down, given me money without demanding repayment, given me succor, love, encouragement, healing, advice, love, and everything I was told I would only get from Witnesses. Except I never got that from Witnesses most of the time, and none of it without strings attached. Everything I got from the Witnesses was held hostage by their requirements of complete belief and servitude.
10. Armageddon? I'm more afraid of the Zombie Apocalypse! I'm stocking up on shotguns, beer and chips, plenty of boards and nails and some baseball bats.
Could anything be scarier than the Zombie Apocalypse? I don't think so...

J - are you trying to say that if god really wanted babies up in heave to be angels then all these abortions would be his will? And all these people fighting abortions would then be fighting god. It's using their stupid reasoning against the idiots.
I've always hated that whole - they are happier in heaven with god. God wanted them. Be happy your loved one is in heaven. SO stupid and insensative. I want to reply -- good, when I stab you then for saying that - you should be happy to go to god, right? Get me a knife! ARGH!
(I'm kidding! I've never murdered anyone. I promise!)
Also, J - good for you saving your baby. Amazing!

I feel exactly the same straightshooter. My husband would love if we could go to a different church. I'm not sure I could stomach listening to anything they'd try to teach me. I love lessons (sermons, talks, discussions, whatev) on how to treat your neighbor and how to live a good life. But anything else and my brain shuts off. Argueing doctrines and facts seems so overwhelming and boring at the same time.
