  Thank you all for your support and words of advice. I appreciate it and have taken it to heart. I'm sorry that many of you have had to deal with gossip as well: rebel, cicatrix, big tex, hilary It seems to be the common situation when people leave the org.

  I hope that if there are any lurking JWs they will read this thread and see that rumors they hear about ones who leave, are not always or are, most of the time, Untrue. And the reason why JWs would start gossip like that to begin with. Which is as expatbrit put it :

  It's sickening that they have to try and blacken your character because they can't accept the simple fact of your having rational reasons for not wanting to be a JW.

  BTW, my son is ten years old. The reason this rumor is circulating is because I quit going to meetings and am an 'evil apostate' and they want to dig up some type of dirt on me. I guess they had to resort to making up something. They are nothing but backbiting gossips. I wonder what else is circulating.

  They have to make those who leave, appear as bad and evil as they are WT says they are.

  LB, yes I recognize exactly what they are! Is your son still in the org?

  I cannot tell you how angry I am right now. The rumor is that I was pregnant before my husband and I were married. We were both witnesses and were married at the hall. They are trying to trash my name!!! I am so pissed. I became pregnant seven months AFTER we were married.

  Why do they have to find negative things to say about those who leave, even go so far as to lie? Its just sickening.

  Poor dubbies, they are supposed to eat, sleep, and breathe their religion, but aren't allowed to discuss the Bible together away from the Kingdom Hall.

  blondie, I did not know those rules were in effect, but I remember on occasion, studying the WT with other Witnesses in their homes, but we discussed only the WT. Maybe our elders weren't as strict or they never knew.

  Empathizing with JW Kids

  for those of us who grew up as jw kids, the life as a jw child is often time very difficult.

  while we are out of wt and we can talk politcs and take sides unlike before, i can't help but feel for the jw kids who are in school.

  as the nationlism increases with the kids being assigned to write to the national guard guys from their town, it is like hell for the poor jw child who has no idea of why he can't wish a man a safe return to his family.. .

  Its funny, my daughter's Brownie meeting is in a church basement on Tuesday nights, we have to drive by the KH we used to attend on our way to the church. I tease my girls and ask if they would rather go to the meeting instead of brownies, they say "no way mom!" They say that the KH meetings were boring. They don't miss it at all, they have made lots of new friends, the friends they have chosen are all great, well-mannered kids.

  It is very difficult growing up as a JW having to be so different and afraid of everything, afraid you are going to displease Jehovah. When I was in second grade I ate a piece of birthday cake and felt so guilty and felt like I was so displeasing to god. Kids don't need that kind of guilt.

  I didn't like going to school because there was always something to deal with because of the religion. I think that's why so many witness kids are eager to be homeschooled.

  i saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.

  he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.

  it was cool.......

  This probably doesn't qualify as strange but gross instead. One Thurs. night meeting this single father and his young son were sitting on the front row, well the kid gets sick and throws up right there in front of the podium. The speaker paused, looked down, then continued with his talk looking a few shades paler. The poor mortified father rushed his son to the bathroom, and returned with a roll of paper towels. A couple of nice sisters got up and helped him, I didn't have the stomach for it.
