Why is there evil

yes, some may answer satan.

but think about this: god created all things, and god is perfect.

Great to see ya, it has been awhile, I miss you, you nut First I don't like the term "evil" I don't think there is a clear enough definition of that word to use it satisfactorily to all. What one person may deem evil is not evil to another, and supposedly "evil" is the worst kind of bad right?

Actually there was a Bible Student in chat the other night who claimed it was "evil" to believe in hell and the trinity. And he even said it was okay to hate those who had those beliefs. So, that just proves the point that evil is more of a personal definition.

As far as how did things get here, well in the beginning god created everything, well that is what christians believe. How they can take the bad and say that didn't come from him as well, just does not make sense to me.

I cannot imagine some of the gross acts I hear commited today. My mind just never thought of some of the ways men will kill another. You would think that those types of ideas, and thoughts came from somewhere right?

Anyway, more later, I need to wake up...lol

last night a program remembered the japanese attack on pearl harbor sixty years ago.

amidst all the historical details, a story of a serviceman stood out.

he was a youngster then, still in his teens and stationed in hawaii, when he sent his mom a card to let her know of his condition.

everyone started screaming and running for the entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil incarnate.. soon everyone had exited the church except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew without moving, seeming oblivious to the fact that god's ultimate enemy was in his presence.. satan walked up to the old man and said, "don't you know who i am?".

I thought it very interesting that a few years ago my non Jw grandmother and I were discussing the JW beliefs after I had left. She brought up 1975, and told me that my parents told her that was the "end." Of course I was still pretty brainwashed, and told my grandma she must be wrong, that they would never predict a set date! I summed it up to apostate knowledge, and forgot about it until I came here. WOW! They did predict set dates and not only for 1975. Now, unless my grandmother hadn't been told about it from my parents how do you suppose she knew that?

I recently asked my mom about it and her reply was the same old garbage I won't even bother posting her reply. Thanks for the post

I may have made a bad mistake

an old friend of the family stopped by my house last night.

i had not seen him for about two years.

he was disfellowhispped about 3 or 4 years ago, but would drop in every now and ask me business related questions.

i am sending this letter via email to both my local hospital and to several doctors (different version) who have occasion to treat my immediate family.. i thought that i would post such on the db so that others here could also do the same.

however, i would ask that you do not completely duplicate the letter, in the event that the same hospital or same doctor receive this more than once, and discard it as a hoax.

please take the time to change some of the wording, and personalize it to your own circumstances.. i will post any received replies, and i ask that others please do the same.. *****************************************.

Well that is why I love this discussion board Everyone has a right to disagree. In my response to Mad's ranting that a force stopped this thread, which BTW is an unprovable statement. I offered an alternative to his comment. And as a matter of fact if you want to get technical...if no one comments, the thread dies, right?

Not once do I see anyone posting that this thread needed to be stopped, and requests made for no more comments. Now I have seen that before on this board, and that would be proveable...not here though. I see over 1500 views and this thread is 3 pages long. It was resurrected after a few months, but wouldn't ya think that the person who started it would keep us posted on the outcome? He didn't and stated he had forgotten about this thread. Of course he had alot of energy stored up to point the finger to an outside source as to why this thread was buried.

Anyway like you I had never read the thread before, so it was interesting to be able to add my comments to it.

I can almost see that vein popping out on your forehead...slow down son. I reread your post and I still can't see the proof that the "powers" stopped this thread. Care to back that statement up?

As far as my rattling on, I did so for the very purpose of Blue's comment, there is a panic that can be started for no good reason. I for one did not want that to happen. I also wanted to point out that, anyone in the medical community would respond to you the same way I did. So just curious, what was the response? Along the same lines as I said huh?

I think that your idea is ridiculous. Not because I don't like you as a person, but because it is not a good argument. It is obvious that you are trying to sway a hiring decision based on religion and this is against our constitution.

Now, care to answer my questions? Back up your statements Mad. Or are are you really just a mad apostate prone to paranoia?

Before all out panic sets in please let me explain. It is part of the admission packets to the hospital for a patient to be asked what religion they are. As Skully already pointed out, it is to get an idea what the patients wishes are. JW's are not the only religion who hold the market on weird medical practices. And I assure you they do not call up every elder when a JW is admitted. Just think about that for a sec, in a metropolitan area how many kingdom halls are there? Do you think they call a baptist church when a baptist is admitted?

The only times I have heard of clergy brought in, is if the patient is without family, and on their deathbed. Even in that case the patient is usually unable to speak for themselves, and the clergy is not allowed to make medical decisions, they are just there for prayer and support.

I am not familiar with the rules regarding the Hospital Liason committee, but I don't think they are allowed to be contacted without the patients consent. This would go against the most basic rules of confidentiality.

If you are not satisfied with these answers, by all means call the hospitals, ask them what the rules are, they will be more than happy to give them to you. Also if there is any breach whatsoever in confidentiality you will have a huge sum of money in your pocket, I assure you. Even if it is your neighbor nurse who tells your other neighbor that you were in the hospital, this simple breach will bring about strong consequences.

April One thing for sure! . . . Jehovah will certainly bless the efforts for sticking to his righteous laws. When the courts step in . . . well, it's just totally out of the parent's hands.
Truly the greatest judge of all, Jehovah, will see to it that at some point in time in the future ALL horrible sicknesses will be done away with. Until then we just have to hope for the very best.

Your family is in our prayers for your poor little nephew! When you get to see him, give him a great big kiss which I'm sure all of us on WOL are sending his way!

Praise the parents, and if he dies what a bigger blessing they will recieve from jehovah. Oh and BTW kiss the kid for us, he is upmost in our thoughts..blah blah blah I praise the courts! And their fine example of steadfastness, not allowing a child to needlessly die to a warped belief that a parent has!
