As a kid in the cong, I wasn't invited to much. But then nothing was really going on anyway except a boring wedding or shower.

BEING IN THIS RELIGION IS LIKE BEING IN A GANG
by minimus inthis evening my daughter said: "being in this religion is like being in a gang.
you may join and never understand what's really required and if you ever want to get out, you can't.
you belong to them...."

I remember being a kid and I told my dad the JWs were like the Eagles song "Hotel California" the line "You can check out anytime you want, but you can't never leave." Boy did I get a butt whip for that, I remember my Dad calling the Elders for advice on that one. They told him to take my radio away.

Bill Bowen,
All I can say is Thank you for your courage to speak up about child sex abuse with the JWs. Thank you for believing in the victims.

THINGS YOU WISHED TO DO INSTEAD OF GOING TO A MEET
by minimus infor many of us, the thought of missing a meeting to do anything else was problematic.
should i go to that concert (to that group that only comes once every few years on a meeting night) or should i give my talk?
should i go to both meetings this sunday or should i go on that company picnic?

WHY ARE OUR K.H's UGLY?
by plmkrzy indon't know how many here are from southern california.
some of the areas here are sectioned off like a canadian pizza (the few that i've seen cut into small squares).
it's because we have so many cities that are sooo conjested they have to build a ton of kh's in order to compensate.. i was just wondering how many besides me have noticed how much nicer the kh's (asuming they all look like this) are in the east in comparison tp the west?.

The Kingdom Halls around my area look more like a Doctor's office with a kingdom hall sign out front.

Do Jws help disfellowshipped ones or apostates?
by haujobbz in.
do you think that, if say you fell over and and seriously injured yourself in the street, would a jw you knew passing by help you knowing that you were disfellowshipped or so called apostate.
maybe even come to see you at home if you were unwell or depressed,i mean how many witnesses have assisted or helped you when you needed it mostly, you see i thought they were supposed to encourage you to become so called spiritually stronger.but saying that when you were active as a jw do you think you were helped in times of distress or illness by your fellow jw,for instance i know a woman who's still a witness but hasnt been to meetings for say a year and thats because she has severe athritis and guess what only 1 j-dub has wrote to her so to her it seems like if your not a regular at meeting you may as well be classed as disfellowshipped.

It depends on how hardcore they are, and if they have had a talk or study article about disfellowshipped recently then they probably will not help. Apostates I would say unless you are dying in the street and they are the only one around, they might help you.

WHAT'S THE WORSE THING YOU DID AT THE MEETING?
by Mary ini would have to say the worst (aka: funniest) thing i ever did at a meeting was when i sat with the circuit overseer and his wife (many moons ago......) .
anyway, he was really prim and proper and she was of course, a very submissive wife who barely spoke without her husbands permission.
anyway, he goes to the platform and starts off by asking th audience: who was ahab?

My brother fell asleep during the public talk, and the person behind him crossed there legs and hit the back of his seat. He jumped up and said "Oh F*CK" and then he realized where he was. He had been out partying the night before so he was pretty hung over. After the meeting those Elders were giving him the riot act.
