Brothers told to stop being wasteful!

i wonder what the real reason is behind this plea from the wbts.

perhaps it is more evidence of a desire to downsize?.

but they can't downsize the printing works if the brothers are being wasteful!

I knew of one pioneer who would"place" watchtower and Awakes at laundromats and would put her name and phone number on the back. Just like an avon catalog. She did get a couple of studies from that. Of course this was 25 years ago. You would think they would want their mags all over since the publishers pay for them anyway.

WERE YOU TREATED POORLY IN THE CONGREGATION?

when you were associated in the congregation, were you treated in a way that made you feel like you were a 2nd class citizen?

how were you regarded?

were you the brunt of criticism or were you pretty much well-liked?

Yes being a poor kid it was embarrassing when the well off families would bring into the hall all their hand me downs in trash bags to give to you. I didn't mind the handy me downs except for the part of making sure everyone in the congregation was looking at those trash bags and commenting at the end of the meeting oh how good of sister Money to give you those clothes.

Secret Letters and files

it still bothers me very much that they are allowed to keep files on us and that we have no right to see the contents.

they can choose to look at them or destroy them, whatever they wish, but our wishes about a file with our name on it, about our lives is not unavailable.

when you change halls a letter is written about you to the next group of men in black.

I have been out almost twenty years and my Jw brother told me just recently the local elders looked up my file. It was still at the local kingdumb hall. With my big sins, confessions and all of a teenager. They wanted to get in contact with me now that I am past the "bloom of youth " stage I wouldn't be doing the stuff I got disfellowshipped for and if I did it would be with hubby.

i was disfellowshipped ten years ago.

in this time a cousin who is a jdub hasn't said boo to me.

then a couple of weeks ago i get a call from him about a legal matter.

Birthdays & the Cult of the Diminished Indi...

yesterday was my birthday.

i got greetings from a number of friends from here in atlanta and also from people who had never met me from around the world since my birthday announcement was carried on a couple of the central bear pages on the internet.. there is clearly no prohibition against birthdays in the bible.

the reason the watchtower prohibits birthday celebrations is the same reason they discourage college, extracurricular activities in school, etc.

JW Family, How Do They Drive You Up The Wall?

many of us still have jw family still very much held within the congregation.

personally, i love my family but they do have this uncanny ability at times to absolutely drive me nuts in sheer exasperation.

I have said this before but the hot and cold behavior towards me. I also can not stand the " Jehovah will take care of it" who cares attitude when something horrible happens.

Is there anything that could make you go back?

is there anything that could make you go back?.

what do you think, is there any change of belief or change of circumstance that could make you return to the jw fold?.

i cant see anything that could make me go back,but i was thinking mabye some of you religious types would go back if they changed some doctrinal things,or if they stopped banning blood.. how about if a family member was dying and hoped to see you in paradise would you go back for a while just to make them feel happy?

No, It took me years to recover from that hell. I would never put my kids through that. I love my freedom to much.

my 27 mo.

old granddaughter and i came back to our place yesterday from our usual friday outing.

I feel the same way when I look at my little ones. they are so filled with love and innocence. Their own Grandfather knows firsthand of abuse in the cong. as I was a victim. I don't know how that man can sleep at night. My oldest daughter is almost the same age I was when I was molested and if someone did to her what happened to me, I would do whatever it took to get justice.
