  Earthquake in Manchester !

  there was a quake here at 9:00 this morning and just now (12:30) the building i am in has been shaken ... the chair i am on was actually moved back and forth by it several times and you could feel yourself being swayed back and forth.

  OK that old chestnut the blood issue

  i know that this topic has been discussed at great length many times before but i would like to share with you my experiences with jws that knock on my door when i have presented them with this hypothetical situation.. "just suppose that you have two children, one has haemophilia and is being treated with factor v111 which is derived from blood and permissable according to the wtbts as an act of conscience, taken and stored from a worldly person possibly even an apostate, permissable because it is a small fraction even though it takes litres of blood to extract this factor v111.

  you also have another child that because of an accident is in danger of bleeding to death and needs oxygen carrying red blood cells to buy this child time until the bleeding has been brought under control the blood comes from the same source and also stored, but is not permissable by the wtbts would your conscience tell you to let this second child die".

  # 1 jw frantically starts seaching through their little black bag "oh i am sure i have an answer to this in here, oh well, maybe i came without it" says to # 2 jw "do you have it by any chance" .

  Yes, I appreciate that the blood issue is emotive and blood can be a hazardous substance, I would need to be assured that as a matter of life and death no other course of action would be effective.

  But that is not the reason most JWs abstain, after all factor V111 also has its dangers but they accept this component. Although I know that at our local Childrens Hospital at least one JW boy is being treated with synthetic factor V111 while others are still receiving the blood derived product.....the synthetic one is very expensive and it depends which Health Authority will fund this new treatment.

  # 2 JW goes through the same procedure and says "No I don't believe I have, but you do have a point I will get back to you".

  Or ......

  # 3 JW "Nobody has put it quite like that before I will get back to you on that one".

  Or......

  # 4 JW " We have an HLC member in our congregation he will be able to answer you I will have a word with him and get back to you". A couple of weeks later they come back and tell me the HLC brother is too busy with all his other duties as an elder and family man to devote his time to this but they have noted my concerns and will get back to me.

  Or......

  # 5 JW "Well I here what you say, but why can't you just put this issue to one side and concentrate on the positive things in the organisation".

  Still waiting for that answer!

  It is IMPOSSIBLE to Abstain from Blood

  it is impossible to abstain from blood and live!

  the watchtower society's unusual interpretation of abstaining from blood to include human blood transfusion has several major flaws.

  humans cant be trusted thats my attitude!!!!

  i say this because its true, think about it takes years to get to know someone, maybe 10 years later you may say i really trust this person or persons,but all sudden those you thought you could trust do something to hurt you,betrayal,theft,backstabbing,assault,dishonesty,liar,deception,etc.even on here i dont really know any of you, all i do is just type and that suits me, you seem to be people of all walks of life some upset,confused,happy etc.but that doesnt mean what you say in your words reflects the "real you" .whether you belive in god or evolution etc it makes no difference we all have imperfect desires in us and give it the right moment and they may be unleashed,you may think im paranoid but "im not" i just dont have much trust for humans good or bad and i dont even trust myself sometimes.

  the jws have been happily proseletyzing & lying about thier 'faith" for a while now, until someone alerted some other people.there are about 5 or 6 whitewashing the truth about their practices in order to gain converts & sumpathy.

  I was at a book study evening some time ago when a second generation JW and very zealous sister was asked how she was getting on with her 'new study', she replied, Oh OK but that this person had been supplied with much literature but hadn't paid a penny towards them and she wouldn't be getting any more until she did!!!!!!!!!

  Panorama: outstanding!

  i didn't see all of panorama, but what i did see was outstanding.

  in its depth and thoroughness, it surpassed what dateline had to offer.

  No-one from the organisation was prepared to be interviewed, they hid like cowards and that GB member was so arrogant.

  On the follow up debate lots of calls from people who had been abused and kept quiet.......one from my home town here in the Midlands UK. Only two called to defend the org and they really did not have a defence when challenged.

  I am ashamed I ever had anything to with the JW's. I associated and studied with them for about five years attending meetings and conventions on occasions but was never really committed. I would like Panorama to take them to task on the blood issue.

  panorama to be broadcast sunday bbc 1 at 10.15pm (re the protection of paedophiles within the jw's and entitled 'suffer little children' is the most respected investigative programme on uk prime time tv.

  as a result of this there are always follow ups in the press and radio phone-in programmes the following day.

  this could have serious implications for the jw's recruitment drive.

  trojan Horse....can anybody help

  i recently received an alert from norton anti virus that file c:\windows\tempory internet files\conrent.ie5ktin81.2f\vcounter[1].htm was infected with a trojan horse.

  i tried to repair but couldn't so i quarantined it and attempted to submit to symantec research centre......they didn't want it saying it was non repairable, they knew about it and to delete the file and replace if necessary eeeeerrrrr ddddooooo.

  i sent it anyway because i didn't want it either and i'm not sure i'm capable of deleting the file.. so anyway, quarantine is now showing empty and a recent scan of my hard drive is clean.
