What is the narrow gate?
by YoYoMama inmatthew 7:13-14 .
go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.

Why is it so hard for 'many' to find the 'narrow gate'? If I was God, I don't think I'd brag that 'many' wouldn't be able to find their way, thus resulting in their destruction. Are children amongst this 'many' crowd?
What would happen if 99.9% of the population converted to the JW faith? Would the road become wider? Does the road expand to accommodate a larger number? Or does He only WANT a small number to live?

Watchtower Propaganda
by JosephAlward inmany have argued that articles in awake!
in recent years show that watchtower was letting itself be told what do by the purple beast, namely, promote the united nations in its writings.
i can understand how many might quickly find support for this claim, for there are, indeed, many articles in awake!

MA,
GRRRRRRRR!!! Thanks for sharing that thread. I don't make it to the board often enough and I must have missed that one. It's just heart-breaking, isn't it? People are actually sitting in jail because of their hypocritical policies. I guess to the WTBTS, these people sitting in prison are more helpful there than going door-to-door. Persecution receives more publicity than door-to-door work. Sad! -

I just wanted to add that the poor JWs who sit in jail because they are instructed that they can't join the military I guess are furthering the work. These stories make it to the media. Is that why they don't let these ones join the military? So that they can further the work through publicity? That's a pretty evil thought.

Joseph - All of that doesn't really matter. JWs disfellowship the average rank and file for joining the local YMCA, but yet the WTBTS goes and joins up as an NGO - a Satan-run organization. If you showed the average rank and file JW a copy of the NGO brochure and asked them if these members are a part of Satan's worldly organization, I assure you, they'd say yes. Then ask them if they can join an organization of Satan's to further the work. They'll tell you 'no!'. That's because the Watchtower tells them that members of Satan's worldy organization will be destroyed.
JWs aren't allowed to participate in the military, because they'd be supporting Satan's world (as someone above said). Some JWs sit in jail (some have been killed as someone said above) because of it. How is that furthering their work? Wouldn't it be better if they just allowed these JWs to do their military time so that they can then further the work? Wouldn't the word be spread more if these JWs were out of jail or alive? Why do they forbid these JWs from participating in Satan's world to further the work, but allow their corporate dudes to sign right up? It's so completely hypocritical and think of the lives that are messed up because they aren't allowed to join a Satan run organization.
Of all organizations that the Watchtower could have joined to further the work - they picked the most controversial one. They know it and that's why they kept it from their members. If I was still a JW and someone showed me proof that the Watchtower was an NGO, along with the NGO brochure, I don't think I'd even believe it, because to believe it - it would mean that my whole world would come crashing down.
If you have never been a JW - I can understand how lightly you view this. But as a former JW, I can tell you that this is a big deal.

What if?- A sobering Thought!
by Bill Parker inhas anyone ever pondered over the two scripture's at matthew 25: 31, 32 and daniel 12:1?
the first tells us that the son of man is "sitting down" ... and that then a "separating" work begins.
then in daniel 12:1 it tells us that when michael "stands up" a great time of trouble ensues.. do you think it's possible he is not yet "standing up?

they wont leave me alone!
by zanex ini have a problem..i have been df'd for like 6 or 7 years i lose count but point is my parents are still stuck in the alternate dimension called jw and they seem to think that there is still a "chance" for me.
lol..funny shit i think but anyway, the town i live in just happens to house some of my friggin elder pop's elder friends...like i thought when i got df'd that meant they would leave me alone but now that i have a wife and kid that arent jw related at all my parents seem to think that my wife will "convert" i trust my wife better than that and i know that there is no way that she would ever do that..she is as cynical as i am..my prob is that they have infiltrated me at my work and i dont want to have to be an asshole about it but i just need them to leave me be...anybody got any ideas on things i can do shy of buying a fully automatic weapon and perching myself on my front doorstep?
anyway..i can hear the psychiatrist callin my name...lol..

Zanex,
I guess I'd probably try to use that as an opportunity to educate them. You are DF'd so you have nothing to lose. However, if you do that with your family, that might push them away.
About the work situation, I like the advice of the stickers, but I think it would be a good thing too if you brought up the UN thing to the girls in the office. Ask them what they think of the UN/WTBTS scandal. Ask them if the know what an NGO is and if they say 'no', tell them they should because the WTBTS was affiliated with it for 10 yrs. They won't want to talk to you after you tell them a thing or two. They'll surely keep their distance!
You don't have to be rude with them - a few questions here and there should quiet whoever it is you want distance from.

I don't think any of these sites were around when I became inactive (late 80s). There were a few reasons why I left and I wouldn't say that the reasons had anything to do with 'doubts' per se and I don't even know if there were ex-jw sites back then.
In the mid-90s, I hooked up to the internet and one of the first things I typed in was 'Jehovah's Witnesses'. I was shocked that out of the first 10 options, 8 of them were ex-jw sites. At the time, I still held much of the JW beliefs and even felt guilty for clicking on the links. In fact, a lot of the subjects I couldn't even open.
I'd have to say that the internet isn't the reason why I left (I don't think it was around then), but the things I've learned on the internet in the past 6-7 yrs is definitely the reason why I stay away.
