Meet together October 19, 2014.
That's the date comet C/2013 A1 (Siding Spring) is supposed to hit Mars, or just be a near miss. The comet's nucleus is estimated to be somewhere between 5 to 30 miles (8 to 50km) in diameter. It's being compared to earth's dinosaur killer asteroid/comet.
Everyone will be glued to the TV that day so you'll get coverage between the news reporting of Mars and its potential armageddon or not.

for those of you in the know, please explain what is going on, who the players are, what turf are they battling over, who is winning, and the consequences of all of this.
i am intrigued but i know nothing about it.

The last leader in the Org with a wild imagination would be the person who started the faith. That would be Russell.

There was a new light teaser in the 2011 District assembly invitation. Everybody was talking about it and hoping it was something good. The back of the invitation had a picture of the dream image in Daniel which represented the kingdom powers starting with Babylon. They had put a question mark pointed at the toes of the image. They saved this talk for Sunday and explained why they put the question mark on the toes. They wanted to clear up any misunderstanding of the toes being another kingdom yet to rise. Since the feet and toes were mentioned together when the scripture described the mixture of clay with iron they said the toes being singled out in the next verse had no extraordinary fulfillment of its own. They said we were in the period of the feet which is the last event to be fulfilled. Next they explained what is meant by clay mixed in with iron. The iron represents the firm governmental dictates of law. The clay represents the institutions that seek out human rights to overturn harsh governmental policies.

Don’t expect any new revelations of future events with this current model. The only changes to come about from this staff are damage control issues, such things as 1914 and the generation teachings. The new light about the toes revealed their limited ability to agree on future events hinted by prophecy.
If you had a new concept to tell the GB what would it be? Would they consider it for a vote?
Here’s a crazy one that came to mind for entertainment purposes: All those resurrected on earth have to be birthed out of the womb during the thousand year reign. I got this idea from the movie called Village of the Damned. So then you will be born again. That would be freaky. The Service department would explode with this one.

The Tower of Babel based on plans of an ANTEDILUVIAN building?
by raymond frantz inhi guys ,i hope you can help here .i'm currently researching the tower of babel and the reasons for building it in the first place?
could it be that nimrod had information or plans based on a pre-flood building ?
bab+el=gate+god could it be an attempt to rebuild a pre-flood structure that served as the gates to the god's (whether materialised satan+demons) or base of angels on earth ?

Try Enoch 1. Maybe he was simulating Mt. Armon, which also could be another name for Mt. Hermon. This is what Enoch, 7:7-8 says:
“Then they swore all together, and all bound themselves by mutual execrations. Their whole number was two hundred, who descended upon Ardis, which is the top of mount Armon. That mountain therefore was called Armon, because they had sworn upon it, and bound themselves by mutual execrations.”

But Elders have been practicing going to other congregations for years with the outgoing Public talks. They could do the change over anytime.

This generation will by now means pass away..."
by Jewel ini haven't been to a meeting (other than some cousins' weddings) for well over twenty years.
i've always wondered what the fds was going to do with the "generations" thing once pretty much everybody who had been alive in 1914 is gone.
i get that they've come up with some "new light" about this topic, but when i ask my mom (who's still in) i only get "well, the new understanding is complicated...".

Maybe you’re on to something ‘Think About It’ when you said this:
“The WTS should have changed their stance and agreed with the secular scholars that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587 BCE. Then they could have just claimed the Gentile Times ended in 1934. They could have built some type of Theology around Hilter and his Nazi Party coming to power around then. Jesus being invisably present with war in heaven, and Satan being cast down and starting WWII by 1939. They could have stuck with the "this generation" teaching and rode it out until 2034.”
A new kind of trouble was in the skies around World War II. The Foo Fighter phenomena made its appearance in WWII. Both Nazi and Allied pilots were being pursued by balls of fire travelling at incredible speeds. There were so many reports of these sightings pilots were beginning to get ticked off by their pesky presence.
“ In a mission debriefing on the evening November 27, 1944, Fritz Ringwald, the unit's S-2 Intelligence Officer, stated that Don Meiers and Ed Schleuter had sighted a red ball of fire that appeared to chase them through a variety of high-speed maneuvers. Fritz said that Don was extremely agitated and had a copy of the comic strip [Smokey Sover] tucked in his back pocket. He pulled it out and slammed it down on Fritz's desk and said, "... it was another one of those fuckin' foo fighters!" and stormed out of the debriefing room.”
“The first sightings occurred in November 1944, when pilots flying over Germany by night reported seeing fast-moving round glowing objects following their aircraft. The objects were variously described as fiery, and glowing red, white, or orange. Some pilots described them as resembling Christmas tree lights and reported that they seemed to toy with the aircraft, making wild turns before simply vanishing. Pilots and aircrew reported that the objects flew formation with their aircraft and behaved as if under intelligent control, but never displayed hostile behavior. However, they could not be outmaneuvered or shot down. The phenomenon was so widespread that the lights earned a name - in the European Theater of Operations they were often called "kraut fireballs" but for the most part called "foo-fighters". The military took the sightings seriously, suspecting that the mysterious sightings might be secret German weapons, but further investigation revealed that German and Japanese pilots had reported similar sightings.”

I vote you to be on the GB ‘Think About It’.

That gravestone somehow reminds me of the movie Stargate.
Maybe the creators of that movie were inspired by Russell's pyramid?
Is it a coincidence that the main star of that movie was Kurt Russell?

The January 2013 Public edition of the Watchtower mentions December 21, 2012 on page 4.
The opening words read, “How do you feel about December 21, 2012, the date of the Maya calendar that many have been saying would bring worldwide change?...Was it just another incorrect prediction for the end of the world?”
On page 8 they have an article with the title, “Have Jehovah’s Witnesses given incorrect dates for the end?” Here are the highlights that reflect their errors in predictions:
1. We agree with the sentiments of longtime Witness A. H. Macmillan, who said: “I learned that we should admit our mistakes and continue searching God’s Word for more enlightenment.”
2. Likewise, we have had some wrong expectations about the end. But we are more concerned with obeying Jesus and saving lives than with avoiding criticism.
I wonder what kind of enlightenment they should be seeking from the Bible to get better answers. Maybe the old ways aren’t working and something new needs to be tried. They have been making big changes leading up to a virtual only magazine along with modified meeting times I wonder what big change is next? Closure of Kingdom Halls and Webcasts straight from bethel pumped right into your home?
