I remember a talk given by an elder a long time ago that said no christian should expect divine protection by God in this world unless that person is directly related to his outworking purpose. For example God made sure people like Moses and Elijah stayed alive because they make or break his plan.

Should a person die for their religious BELIEFS?
by Fisherman inin ancient israel many of the prophets were killed as a result of their religious assignments —from god.
even soldiers were sent out to fight against idolatrous “uncircumcised” and logically some died for example jonathan, the son of king saul.
these soldiers were said to be fighting the wars of jehovah and there was no miraculous salvation for everybody all of the time.

Here's a post on Reddit from 3 years ago confirming Guy Pierce was raised a Mormon and became a witness as a young adult.

Thanks for sharing that link Zilgee on the Family Home Evening. Now they need another former Mormon to join the JW GB ranks and suggest University is a good thing. It brings money into God's house.

The JW's stole the Family Worship day from the Mormons. The implementation came from deceased GB member Guy Pierce. He used to be a Mormon and he brought it into the JW religion.

I understand why they wanted to get rid of the word cross. Too many people were venerating it as a way of salvation but Deuteronomy 21:22-23 was as an eye opener for me on whether it was a cross or a stake.
The NWT(Revised) reads:
"If a man commits a sin deserving the sentence of death and he has been put to death and you have hung him on a stake. his dead body should not remain all night on the stake..."
The older NWT version reads about the same but you have to get out the old 1984 Reference Bible to see the footnote of where the work "stake" is present. The footnote reads, Lit., "tree"; or, "wood".
If you look at the original Hebrew word used it is "eyts" which is nothing other than a tree. The exact same Hebrew word is used for the tree(s) in the middle of the garden of eden.
https://www.ancient-hebrew.org/definition/tree.htm
It was more likely a tree instead of some cut up wood in the above passages. A living tree has limbs which makes it easy to mount the deceased criminal for public display. A tree has limbs to hold out arms and so does a cross. The majority of the translations I looked up on Biblehub use the "tree" rendering.
At this point they were still wandering in the wilderness when Deuteronomy was being penned by Moses and so there was an abundance of trees all around the camp of Israel to use as warning sign posts. There was no need to cut some trees up as lumber (wood) and later use them as execution posts.

Careful what you wish for! Regarding Jehovah in the New Testament
by pizzahut2023 inok i'll bite.. let's say for a moment that jehovah's witnesses are right, and that the nt autographs (the originals) contained the tetragrammaton.let's say that the nt writers always wrote "jehovah" in greek (iexoba, as the witnesses spell it currently) when they quoted the hebrew scriptures, whether they quoted from the hebrew version or the septuagint, and jehovah's name appeared on the quote.
let's say that the original septuagint always had iexoba whenever they were referring to jehovah.then we have that the original septuagint said in psalms 101:26-28 the following:"at the beginning it was you, o jehovah, who founded the earth, and the heavens are works of your hands.
they will perish, but you will endure, and they will all become old like a garment.

I noticed one instance where the NWT showed someone in the NT quoting the OT and the difference was in the identity of the divine being. The OT said the source came from the spirit but the NT said the source was Jehovah. I can't remember the scripture.

"Apostasy"
by Zilgee inthe so called apostates of first century later became the catholic church.
these apostates like saint athanasius, theologian, ecclesiastical statesman, and egyptian national leader decided which books would be part of the bible.
we are now following what they decided.

It's best that Christianity remain as 1000's of denominations and not be one unified religion. It exposes all the bad interpretations and keeps it all transparent. Look at Islam. If you don't conform you will lose your head literally. The Catholic church used to be like that until the masses took away that power. One day Islam is going to lose that power too. I read recently that Sudan did a 180 on Sharia Law in 2021 and went totally secular. The world is finally figuring out religious extremism is not cool and will cut you out of prosperous business prospects for bad behavior.

Disney Star Wars makes another retarded choice
by LoveUniHateExams inwhat is it with disney star wars?
why is it that seemingly everything disney touches turns to shit?
what the f**k are these scooters doing in the book of boba fett?!

I agree, those scooters in Book of Boba Fett were ridiculous. This was the only part I complained about in that series. It was real cool to see Jabba the Hut's cousins in the show along with a new rancor monster.

Did Jesus COME with the clouds of heaven in 1914?

Jesus has been invisibly present to the christian congregation ever since he ascended to heaven. Jesus said at Matthew 18:20 that he would be among them when two or three are gathered in his name. The prophecy about his second coming with the clouds of heavens is different. Matthew 24:29-30 reveals a sign of the son of man will appear in heaven or sky after some strange power shakes up the heavens. This has to be something obvious in the sky that no one can deny. Every eye will see it and people will be faint out of fear because of it. It won't be invisible. Read Legends of the Jews by Louis Ginzberg and you'll know what I mean.

drinking wine in the Kingdom
by enoughisenough insomething jumped out at me that i never paid attention to while reading further into matt 26...in vs 28, he tells them his blood is to be poured out for the many for forgiveness of sin.
but note vs 29 but i say to you: i will no menas drink again any of this product of the vine until that day when i drink it new with you in the kingdom of my father.
cross reference luke 22:18 for i tell you , from now on, i will not drink again from the product of the vine until the kingdom of god comes.. what is the point of all of this: matt 26:29 " i drink it new with you " mark 14:25 " drink new in the kingdom of god.

It says there is no corruption in heaven and the process of fermentation is just that. The grape is going into a state of decay when it ferments and becomes wine. If Jesus says he'll drink wine again then he will be in physical form not spiritual in order to drink it.
