My 8 year old gets it
by discreetslave inmy 8 year old has recently discovered star trek and loves it.
the other night we watched an episode "return of the archons".
whenever someone spoke differently or questioned, it was recognized that they were not one of them or "of the body".

My son is having a birthday party today
by mrsjones5 inone of his friends can't come because his mother is a jw.
i told my boy he shouldn't have said to the mother what kind of party it was.
he's just having a few friends over for food and video gaming, something his friend has done before at other "worldly" kids' house along with my son.. there will be no beheadings at this party..

What March 12th means to me

march 12, 2001 i left bethel.. march 12, 2011 i started a personal bible reading project that was supposed to strengthen my faith as a jw before the memorial.
instead this was the beginning of my awakening..

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear your family has been torn from you. I hope your wife reconsiders. If you tell her you will not stop her from being a JW she really doesn't have any grounds for separation. If you want to keep your family you will need to play spiritually weak with the elders. I would mention comparing the conduct of other Christians to the misconduct of JW's as being a factor in your thinking but don't say anything else if you want your family. I'm so sorry you are going thru this. It's not easy my husband is a JW. Be loving, kind and bite your tongue for a while to gain back your family.
She was willing to break the rules to marry you maybe what you said will take root later. Hoping for the best. -

March 2012 Aux Pioneering
by truthlover inso far what is the response to the aux pioneering this year vs last year?.
in our cong - only 10 so far vs 52 last april.

Last year the cong I was in had all reg & aux pioneers stand up at the front of the hall. While they tried to guilt those still in their seat to sign up.
I wonder if that will happen again? -

Have you regained your Self Esteem after being " Used " by the WT society ?
by flipper inin this book on mind control cults and recovering from abusive relationships that my wife and i are reading titled , " take back your life " by janja lalich & madeleine tobias - it discusses in detail how damage we've received from cults or abusive relationships stays with us after we exit .
in the chapter " coping with emotions " it states some interesting things under the subheading " loss of self esteem ".. it states regarding after leaving a cult ( jw's, scientology, etc.
) on pg.

Leaving the borg in itself was a boost to my self esteem. I am proud that I stood up for myself and decided to be in control of my own life.
You are told you can't trust yourself, your own feelings and views on anything means nothing if not in harmony with how they interpret the Bible. I am now responsible for my life so I have to own up to my mistakes and not relegate it to sin. Now I get to enjoy and take the credit for decisions that go well and contribute to the wellbeing of myself and others. I still have a way to go but my self esteem is finally in the black as opposed to constantly being in the red as it was as a JW. -

Kingdom Hall remodel - scam
by Dagney ini was wondering from any here in the know, does it seem like there is a lot of "remodels" going on?.
in the last week i had the occasion to talk with two jw's in different halls, about 10 miles apart.
they both are undergoing major remodels.

I forgot about the not charging interest anymore (I think my father in law said that to me back in 2007).
Then it it's about skimming off the top and keeping the WBT$ name on the deed. The remodel done for a cong I was in back in 2007 was never really completed. There were many little things left undone and when I left that cong last year there was stuff already in need of repairs. It was definitely not worth what they had paid for it.
