While parents are encouraged to watch their kids there is a lot of trust in the cong. that can abused. Many parents are lax once the kids are older. In my last 2 cong.'s kids 13 and up went out in service with br's & sis no parents. There are a lot of home schooled teens being taken under the wings of reg. pioneers. This is a breeding ground for abuse. Sexual abuse can happen in the car while the parents are in the front seat. The trust makes it too easy for predators.

To Dissassociate or just Fade into Inactivity ? Your Choice ? Reasons ?
by flipper inthis has been asked before, however i thought it may be good for newer members of the board to read some of our reasons on how we decided to exit the jw cult and why we decided to do it the way we did.. first off - i have been faded for almost 8 years.
essentially i decided to fade into inactivity and not da because i have elderly jw parents who would shun me if i did get dfed or daed myself.
also- i like keeping open the possibilities that some of my many jw relatives may in time start doubting and have questions and reach out to me in my inactive state.

As far as my letter. I gave out 30 copies after the meeting and emailed 30 more.
When I was handing the letters out I was singing "Devil with the Blue Dress On" to myself, since I was wearing a smoking blue dress and high heels. I loved every minute of it.

When everyone started asking me why am I doing this take back the letter, I said I was going to be df'd anyway. After that 2nd elders meeting there was no way I was going to shut up and eat the slop. I no longer believed it was "the truth". So I decided to take the power back they had sapped from me and cut them out.
@ LeavingWt "Look kids! There's the School for the Blind." I'm ROTFL

I wanted to fade but us being an exemplary family would make that hard.
I thought about keeping status quo. & not placing lit. and planting seeds of doubt.
My husbands knee jerk reaction to call the elders again re more questions and doubts scared me into thinking his awakening is going to take too long if ever. The elders visit that night sealed the deal. I needed to cut out the infection. I was afraid of becoming depressed and irritable again. Plus my conscience couldn't live a lie. I figured my being out could save my kids. Give them a chance to think hey what about mommy's way. As far as my husband I hope he can be won without a word or not too many words.
DA for me was best. I didn't want to be df'd because I did nothing wrong in examining my beliefs. The freedom I have to associate with whoever I like and not be confined is great. No more door to door or meetings!!!! I do informal anti-witnessing, so far good results. I enjoy family worship so I asked if I could sit in and my husband said fine as long as I'm silent. Yesterday when we were talking he gave me a flicker of hope. So maybe ripping off the band aid is a wake up call for him. He admitted he can't reconcile my change for the better with leaving. It shouldn't be that way he said. Then he said either your callous or you may have a point.
Each of us has to do what is best for us.

pg 9 Others try to defend falsehood by saying
that the Bible is complicated, not meant to
be understood by everyone. Yet, most of Jesus’
disciples were ordinary people, without
higher education, and they readily grasped
what he taught.—Acts 4:13.My JW dad said to me "we need the slave to explain the Bible to us. I'm a simple guy I couldn't try to understand the Bible on my own"
pg 9 You could also hold back from scrutinizing
your beliefs out of fear that doing so would
display a lack of faith. But does it make sense
that God would be displeased with you for
looking into the Bible, his message to mankind,
to understand what he asks of you? On
the contrary, his Word encourages you to
examine the Scriptures personally, saying:
“Prove to yourselves the good and acceptable
and perfect will of God.”—Romans 12:2.Cong coordinator told me to pray for Jehovah to quiet my mind from asking so many questions. He said I should just stick to the Psalms when other books stir up questions. I need to be humble about my perceived ability to understand God's word.

To Anony:
My husband and myself always made sure someone without a Bible got one. I never bothered to consider if anyone else did it because we always did.
I still can't believe I didn't wake up sooner. I did not fit in.
SweetBaby Cheezits the GB is spying. I'm telling you I think ConcernedJW is John Wischuk or a lackey.
The article saying no more questions to be answered leads me to think they will use ex-jw sites for Question From Readers Material. This way they will seem to be more directed by God
