Hi LDH,
A whole topic with my name on it! Wow! I didn't think anyone reads my posts. I have a very temperamental computer, with an even more computer illiterate owner. So I will do my best to E-mail you.

i can remember every young male in the congregation.
"reaching out" to run the mikes - and read at the.
it seems to be the emerging norm for.
In my old congregation (in Upstate NY) there was a contraversary
on whether to underline (or not) the WT in pen. It seemed if you were using permanent pen it was like defacing a "holy document."
Were you guys really checking out our WT's? (Ha! Ha!)

Edited for spelling
i recently watched the movie bubbleboy.
it was a cute little movie that the family enjoyed but at the end i realized it could very easily be a metaphor for leaving the organization.
when i began to make the associations of differant characters within the movie i began to wonder if the writer was perhaps an xjw.
Does anyone remember the original made-for-television movie "Bubbleboy" in the U.S.? I think it starred John Travolta, and it came out in the 70's, correct me if I'm wrong.

i feel so mad because of what i went through for the "truth" i just want to shout about it.
i'm not mad with the individuals, some of which are genuine, mostly good, and nearly all mislead.
i just view the whole organisation like a run away machine, gone crazy, dangerous.
Hello Ballistic,
I just wanted to say that you are not alone. Perhaps this is the first time you can be objective, since you NOW know that the Society is flawed with discrepancies.
Healing takes time.
I was never baptized. I just kept reminding the elders, "It's such an important step that involves God + myself...." I grew up in the "truth" since I was 2 until the age of 26. Ten years have passed and I am still struggling through the grieving process, with an active JW parent.
You have a great sense of humor and I enjoy reading your posts. Never loose that. I believe that laughter can get you through the hardest times. Talking, self-help books, and medical doctors I found can be helpful.
I think anger can be positive, as it can motivate a new start in one's life. Good Luck with your progress, and don't forget there are many here who support you.

i am so happy.
i just got a call from a sister who i was very close to.
her husband is an elder so she has to call me when he's not home.
I am very happy for you also. Good friends are hard to find. I was so disappointed when my so called, "friends" in the "truth", suddenly disappeared when I disassociated. You must have had a great friendship for her to remember you by, and to contact you. That is special.

heres something i've always wondered ,why do jw's insist that you have to say amen to conclued a prayer?.
of all the prayers in the bible i can't recall one ending in amen (correct me if i'm wrong).. anyway amen means "so be it" so why not say "so be it" at the end of your prayer or words to that effect?.
most of the prayers in the bible just end with nothing tagged on to the end.. so were does this come from?.
I still don't always say "Amen" when my JW parent says the prayer, I feel uncomfortable because the prayers are usually the exact same words over and over again. I feel that a prayer should come from the heart, like you really mean it. I guess it is up to each individual, whether to close their eyes or not. I definately closed mine when I was at the KH (you know the rules, of course) but would leave them open to watch my siblings at the dinner table. Sometimes, we would get the giggles, and that was always a lot of fun!

i guess i've been inspired by stephen's quote threads, so i'm going to start one myself.. not one particular author here, just whatever i can find:.
q: why do you think that people are so protective of their egos?
why is it so hard to let go of one's ego?.
How about this one:
Bad association, spoils useful habits.
(Just kidding!) :>)

i've been reading this forum page for about a year.
at first i thought it was a meeting place for practicing jw's but after reading many posts found that most people here have been hurt or don't see things eye to eye with the wt org.
i am not a jw but i have been associating with them for about 3 yrs.
Welcome peacepipe,
I had been "lurking" for a while too, until I summoned the courage to register. You will definately find various opinions on all types of topics here.
I am glad that you are open-minded because I feel one needs to be objective to have a balanced view on life.
The quote be careful not to stumble your brothers (and sisters, too) is a good reminder for all that participate on this forum.

hello friends,.
since i have been a member of this forum since july, i have seen alot of posts by df'd or posts about disfellowshipping.
i just thought i would add my thoughts on the matter, for whatever it is worth.
I believe that D'Fing is one cruel way that the WBTS uses to control people and a way to "weed" out those who do not conform to the religion. Elders seem to over abuse their power. Also, they way they solve problems is by getting rid of "undesirables." Then they can make the common claim, "We, witnesses are better, because we don't have problems like that in the world."
