How I envy you TR. It must be nice to have family that you can go to. My siblings and my mom no longer attend meetings, but out of respect to my dad we don't make a big deal of Christmas. We don't have relatives that live near us so it has been kind of hard. I sent out cards, and bought a Christmas songbook. (I have always wanted to know the words to X-mas songs, because we couldn't sing them as JW's) I can't wait to go to my work X-mas party.

i was having a discussion last nice about these things.. i went out about a half hour after my dissing waas announced and got a tattoo.. who else has gotten tattos, or body piercings, or any type of body modificatoins done since leaving?.

I have always wanted my hands to be hennaed painted. It's usually done in India during weddings. I just thought it might look cool. My sister had it done at a medieval fair. The paint (dye) lasts about 6 weeks, then fades off.

there are two things.
in the early and mid 80s there were witnesses saying that the cartoon characters the smurfs were not acceptable for witnesses.
i had two smurf cartoon books and my mother made me throw them away.
I remember being at an assembly and the speaker urged everyone not to listen the that song "Afternoon Delight" (Forget who sings it) because it talks about having sex during the day! I was just a kid, but I loved that song!

if you have kids and want to get just one more gift for them, take note.. ok, last sunday while finishing up the shopping i happened to pass a display of a toy i have wanted to get for a long time.

Sounds like you're quite the technician, Bendrr. It's the little things that make us happy, isn't it? You must feel like a kid again, huh? I couldn't resist and went out and bought myself a diamond tennis bracelet for Christmas. I knew that if I didn't buy it, I would never receive it. I couldn't stop looking at my wrist!

back in college i visited the old h2o site many times and this is definitely superior.
thanks to all for the rich content i've been enjoying.. my great mother was a witness making me a fourth generation.

Thank you for sharing such a personal story. My JW dad still tries to re-convert me also. I just slowly drifted away. I too, felt the pressure to conform to one way of thinking. I have felt so much happier, healthier and totally free since I have left the truth. It gets easier with each passing year. This board has helped me to find a common ground and support with many nice people. Glad you decided to stop lurking and to take the "plunge." Looking forward to many more of your posts.

i have just finished what seems like the week from hell.
at work we have been overwhelmed trying to make sure all the people in the area get xmas assistance.
we have people trying to get through the system twice.

Today, was my last day of dealing with Christmas shoppers at work, until after X-mas and then it gets worse with Christmas returns. At least I'll have a few days off. After work, I went for a long walk with my dog. Nothing like getting a bit of exercise to get out that aggression, and frustration. It was unusually cold (35 degrees) here in New England. The walk was very invigorating. Have a good night, hope next week will be better for you.

i just remembered this yesterday.. a newly appointed m.s.
was assigned the bathroom detail at a circuit assembly in natick.. well, he naturally asssigned most of the bros to the mens rooms and the sis to the womens room.. well in the women's room they have those "special" items in case of emergencies and the little wax paper bags, i think.. now the trash bags were transparent, pretty much, and the sisters are taking care of throwing these used items in the bags so they could be carried out back to the compacter.
right through down the center of the lunch room.
I used to go to Natick all the time, too!
I went there this Spring for an assembly with my JW dad. I wanted to see how all the new construction was. They enlarged the auditorium. The cafeteria is for senior citizens, handicapped and mothers with children. During the meeting everyone was eating and drinking. I couldn't beleive it! How come we never got to do that, when I was going there? They enlarged the foyer, the coat room, and new bathrooms.
All that money, and they were still asking for more donations to pay for it.
