The scariest Place on Earth........

no, i'm not referring to the borg palace in n.y. i was watching the tv show where they select a family to spend a night roaming around a haunted island, castle etc.

now if the god/devil concept isn't right, what causes the energy forces to scare the hell out of those people?

if this was discussed before, bear with me i'm a newbie trying to figure out what to believe.. never give up, and never under any circumstances, face the facts-r.gordon

I very much believe in the spirit realm and evil "demon spirits", although I have seen these shows you are referring to, and I think they are freaked out by the power or suggestion. Who the heck wouldn't be freaked out by the power of suggestion.

What I percieve about these TV shows: Here you are, in a spooky castle, said to be inhabited by ghosts of dead people by some deep voiced man who sounds like he should work in a morgue who tells you for hours how freaky it is and scarry and the bloody history of the place with heads being chopped of and irons maiden and such and then you do some spirit ritual with blood and candles and then in the dark you are seperated from your family and have to close the "portal" so the mourning evil spirits can rest. I think it is sorta silly, if you ask me.

Holidays: Do you celebrate?

i smell something burning; oh, just me thinking again!!.

anyway, one thing i always missed were the holidays-christmas especially.

i know that this is an unproven celebration to say the least, but i have always loved the warmth and beauty of this holiday, although very commercialized in this day and age.

I always did think it was stupid not to celebrate Thanksgiving becasue "we should give thanks year round." How dumb is that?

Same could be said about Jesus' memorial. What a morbid holiday, celebrating the sufferring of Jesus Christ, his lungs drowning and heart dying with a level of suffering we cannot comprehend. It's almost sick that that is the only holiday JW's celebrate, other than wedding anniversaries. Don't want to give undue honor to anyone, but aren't Wedding Anniversaries the same darn thing? Dumb, if you ask me, just plain dumb.

i also find that there is evidence the flood existed.

anybody know the stats of the "supposed" ark on mr. ararat?.

more important to stay close to jehovah and his organization.

So you comment to not to read this book or others like it and to obey-- is directly against the bible. Obey the teachings of man? I sure as hell don't think so. You obviously don't OBEY OBEY or you would not be here. I may never test my God Jehovah, but I will test man.

God is not happy with you for directly knowing the governing body is WRONG and they are FALSE PROPHETS! A person can be "only human" and make a false prophecy, but can't be "only human" and commit formication or smoke a cigarette (which is NOT in the bible.)

I hopethe whole human race has peace... but that is not my point. I am looking for what people view as direct eveidnce that the bible is inspired by God due to accounts being verified. I do beleive in the flood, even just looking at the Grand Canyons makes me beleive in teh flood, as the rocks consist of clay and are therefore easily molded by torrential downpour. I find the whole dead sea loaded with sulpher a good bit of proof, including the satelite images and map I saw.

Now now kids, play nice!

Been doing some research, seems there is proof of Sodom and Gomorah, as the Dead Sea is loaded with sulpher, and surrounding small ancient cities are crusted with sulfer, even gold coins found crumble to ashes containg heavy amounts of sulfer-- and there are satelite images reflecting there may be very large hidden cities under the Dead Sea. I have a copy of a map from the 1600's time period that show bits of 4 cities (including Sodom and Gomorah) still peaking above the waters of the Dead Sea.

Anyhow, Mount Ararat shows at times a dark mass that has been speculated to be the ark.

Another viewpoint is -- dinosaurs may have been destroyed in the flood since the water may have helped the to fossilize? This is speculation on my part. Any viewpoints? I would post the pic of the map, but I can't figure out how to put it in here!

i'm just curious as to how many ex-witnesses here still believe in the god of the bible ?

and how many, due to the societies teachings have given up on god all together ?

Quester-- no I never went through that anger at God stage. I think God is somewhat liek a parent, on a large grand yet spiritual scale. A parent cannot control thier children and if they could, what kind of life would that be?

I know I may catch some slack for this statement, but the pain in life makes the goods things so much better. When my mom died it hurt like nothing else. I will always love her and she will always be a part of me. Losing my brother was tough, too, but a lot tougher on him and my parents. Then I gave birth to my daughter, a true miricle of life to make a child and feel it grow inside of you is so awesome I cannot explain, and a piece of my mother lived on in my child. I don't love sorrow, but accept it as a part of life.

And just as an adult does not wish thier parent to control thier life, so god does choose at this point in time, even if a parent had a child that is misguided or downright mean. It is not for me to tell God what he can and cannot do, just as it is not for me to deny my parents or the govenment in which I live. I never met the President of the United States, so does he really exist, or is he fictional? Why didn't God have a begining? Maybe because he is far supierior to us beyond what our puny minds can imagine and is not made of flesh and bone.

I believe in the "bible" God for several reasons and agree with what Logical has to say, although the world is not neccessarily in harmony right now, it still runs in a flow that shows one life form effects another and so on. One of my biggest points affirming my beleif in the bible being, again, the "earth being a circle and hanging upon nothing." The other is being a very accurate history book, such as past empires or the flood.

I also beleive in Jesus, as Rmans were not originally Christian, and began to beleive in "Christianity" around Jesus death, hence Roman Catholics.

I also strongly believe in a spirit realm, as I have personal encounters (no,not voices in my head thanks) that would lead me to believe the spirit realm is bad and some is good (ESP, tarot cards, Ouija boards, spirit mediums etc...)

Anyhow, what I am looking for here is personal viewpoints as to why you feel the bible is accurate. And I again stress, please respect my beliefs, as I respect yours, regardless if you do not beleive in a God or believe in a God other than the "bible" God.
