  well the elders do not accept me.

  i do not fit the mold and nor will i change too.

  they asked for a book for me to see the questions answered for baptisim but they wouldn't give it to me because they have to decide if i can join???

  Don't be too upset. Do you know the account in the bible of the Ethiopian Eunuch? As soon as he found out about God he got baptized. There was no waiting period, zillion questions or approval from a bunch of men (or elders.) They did not have guidelines on what he should wear etc... It's all silly, don't be so mad. Do you really want to be a JW? If so, they will require you to have a normal hair color (what they think is normal) take out your piercings unless they are in your ears and so on. I always wanted my nose pierced and my belly button but never could. I can now, but I don't even care anymore.

  Be yourself and don't let other people dictate to you what you should look like or wear. If you area true Christian, the only thing that really matters is your actions and faith.

  Be young and have fun, cause you are only young once. I missed out on so much, don't do the same thing.

  the october 1 watchtower 2001 features articles on training children "properly" and dealing with a "prodigal child.

  the latest inside u.s. figures reveal that 86% of jw children leave the fold, with some 29% who eventually come back for reasons of family ties, most never "reaching out.

  " that means over half leave permanently.

  I can really see your point, Maximus.

  In our hall when there were 40 kids +/- (ages 5-18) that I have seen come and go. 1 went to bethel, was removed and is no longer a MS, 2 got married and are happy and good JW's (although the one was removed as a JW a while back for fondling a sister out in service and the other is rumored to have had sex and done coke with another MS boyfriend) a few still live with mom and dad so have no choice but their rebellion is obvious and the rest are inactive, df'd or no longer JW's. So, out of this group that I saw over the years, none are real adult JW's except for the 3 who probably came back because of the pressure.

  For those of us who still believe in God...

  i would like to know why you still beleive in god and what, based upon the bible, leads you to believe in god.. i likethe scripture that states the earth was a circle and hung upon nothing.

  i also find that there is evidence the flood existed.

  anybody know the stats of the "supposed" ark on mr. ararat?.

  The evidence was the day I gave birth to my daughter and held her in my arms and she gazed into my eyes knowing exactally who I was. The only proof I need is in my heart.

  Best urban legends, you heard in the org?

  personnally, i heard a lot of urban legends about the presence of a devil in a house.

  it was always the same kind of story about a devil who lived in a house and then the jw arrive and they pray jehovah and suddendly, the demon go away...

  There was a story of a "pioneer" brother in Canada (I'm in the Florida, USA so this one had to travel really really far) and he cleaned the floors at Toys'R'Us at night. They always locked him in at midnight and did not let him out until the next morning - since it took all night to clean and polish the floors. One night he heard a thump thump sound so he went to an aisle and Ouija boards and stuffed animals were flying around every where. He ran to a phone terrified of this demon visit - but the demons wouldn't let him get to the phone. When they would start to shove him around he would yell Jehovah and they would go away, but he could never get to the phone. He had to wait in the store all night until the Toys'r"Us people let him out.

  An apostate kept calling the cops because her radio wouldn't shut off and it was not plugged in or didn't have any batteries. She quickly came back to meetings and the demon left. She is now reinstated. I know this person, by the way. She is a little off.

  And I've heard the smurf story too. Ever heard the one about "sprites" talking? (those cool cute toys that had feathers for hair.)

  You have all put up some very good posts. I did not ask this question because I have doubts about God, I simply asked it to get your viewpoints and to see if any of you are aware of any physical evidence according to science that would make as a good point of interest for someone who may consider themselves an atheist or agnostic. I have really enjoyed ALL of your comments and understandings and will make it a point to research them all.

  Suggestions, please re ``placing'' free COCs

  a friend and i have come across a quantity of crisis of conscience in like-new condition, both english and italian editions.

  we're in a quandary as to how to make best use of them.

  we were thinking of donating them to the libraries or to perhaps cut a deal wth a local christian book store.

  I would send them to those witnesses who you really love and think have the most open minds. If sombody would have sent me a copy I would have read it. I can think of a few people that I have actually thought to buy a copy for and mail it tothier house with no return address.

  ok, this is for those of you who wanted my life experience as a jw, so here goes.. i was born to a beautiful woman/mother who was abandoned by my biological father.

  my mother was raised as a jw and left in her teen years and turned to the baptist church as an adult.

  I don't think my life is different than anyone else's. I think all of us had some share of grief to deal with at one point or another. All the trial's I have been through have made me stronger and helped me to understand the needs of others. Thank you so much for your kind words, I appreciate them more than you know.

  We are all here for you and we all know what you are going through to one extent or another. If you ever need to talk about anything at all, just let us know. Don't lose any sleep, as Randy said, this is the 1st day of hte rest of your life. Everything will feel better, taste better, smell better and you will look at the world thorugh a whole new pair of eyes.

  Seriously, this is my favorite song of all time, I remember it when I was a little girl. It reminds me of mom and I can't help but cry and think of her everytime I hear it. I've always thought when I die that when my loved ones heard this song, they'd think of me.

  1975 Reaction

  this past weekend, one of the few remaining jw relatives who will still discuss jw stuff with me told me about his recently attending a home bible study being conducted by an elder.

  evidently, the study had been told or had picked up some info about the 1975 fiasco.

  the elder totally denied that the society had stated or even led people to believe that armageddon would occur in 1975, and he naturally blamed some individual jws for misinterpreting the society's materials.
