by MrMoe ini will let you all hang who ever the heck wrote this crap.
november 8, 2001 awake page 9: some battered women may need to seek assistance from the authorities.
at times, a point of crisis-such as intervention of the police-can cause an abusive man to see the seriousness of the action.. page 12: should the battered wife leave her husband?

The indicators list is a quote from some person they call an authority on this subject matter. I am at work and can't recall his name - so I will post it later. They have the list posted in a dark grey box - henceforth it draws major attention.

The one thing I can't fathom is saying not to encorage a woman to leave a man like this. If you knew your freinds was being hurt badly and her life was in danger, as a LOVING CHRISTIAN - wouldn't you be obligated to warn her? The article encourage (in my opinion) to stick in the marriage and work it out unless you felt your circumstances were EXTREME.
Thank you for the quote Marvin:
*** w64 4/15 249-50 What Holds You Back from True Worship? ***
Real love for the family is shown by being willing to put up with disapproval, or even abuse, so that those unbelieving family members may have the best possible opportunity to learn the truths from God’s Word and come in line for the everlasting blessings that Jehovah God holds out to those who serve him.—1 Pet. 3:1-6.(((((Tatiana))))) - I am glad you were strong and thought for yourself. Good for you.
FrightMare
Women are so ridiculously stupid, especially the ones who need someone to tell them to leave an abusive relationship, and can't do it on their own. I mean, even cats are smarter than that.
Frightmare - I am willing to bet with your mentality you are a wife beater. If not, you sure are headed that way.
Women are so ridiculously stupid.
- You are a the true definition of a real jackass. -

OK - take this statement for an example: "Some battered women may need to seek assistance" - SOME? And who defines some?
Or - take this "At times, a point of crisis-such as intervention of the police..." A point of crisis - and what is thier definition of a point of crisis?
How about this gut wrenching quote? "Should the battered wife leave her husband? The Bible does not treat martial separation lightly..." (All the material a JW man needs to coax his wife to stay.)
And this - “If she should actually depart, let her remain unmarried or else make up with her husband.” Once a wife beater always a wife beater.
And - my final point - "the Bible does not forbid separation in extreme circumstances..." And what is extreme? Extreme beating usually leads to death or severe injuries. What about getting out while you still have your bones in tact?

November 8, 2001 Awake – page 9: “Some battered women may need to seek assistance from the authorities. At times, a point of crisis-such as intervention of the police-can cause an abusive man to see the seriousness of the action.”Page 12: “Should the battered wife leave her husband?” The Bible does not treat martial separation lightly. At the same time, it does not oblige a battered wife to stay with a man who jeopardizes her health and perhaps her very life. The Christian apostle Paul wrote: “If she should actually depart, let her remain unmarried or else make up with her husband.” Since the Bible does not forbid separation in extreme circumstances, what a woman does in this matter is a personal decision. No one should coax a wife to leave her husband, but neither should anyone pressure a battered woman to stay with an abusive man when her health, life, and spirituality are threatened.”

I am somewhat at a loss for comments right about now - as I am sure you all agree with everything I feel right now. I am sick to my stomach. They are gonna get in some hot water for this one!
OK - now that I have calmed down a bit - did anyone but me catch the fact it seems that they discourage a woman leaving a situation like this unless under EXTREME circumstances? And for NOBODY TO TELL OR ADVISE HER TO LEAVE!!!!! H-E-L-L-O? Are we brain dead here? And - if those facts about risks for wife beaters - 99% of the people I know are a risk. I am so mad about this. I need to stop and count to 10.

"Do Not Irritate". Total Dub Garbage.
by Englishman in"you fathers, do not be irritating your children but go on bringing them up in the self regulating mental blah blah blah".. good grief, how many times did the wtbts trot out that old chestnut?
as a kid it drove me nuts, as a father of several children it did indeed irritate me beyond measure because of its appalling mis-application.. you want to know why it was so irritating?
because the boyz n' brooklyn interpreted it as follows, something like this:.

One of the best posts I have ever read - excellent!
Points that are a big deal to me and changed my lifelong beliefs:
1. Last chapter of Revelation where Jesus calls himself the Alpha and Omega and that he sent his angel. They say Jesus was talking then Jehovah started talking - but if you look at the quotation marks the second paragraph is marked in the bible as a continuation of the previous paragraph - hence forth it IS Jesus talking and not Jehovah.
2. The whole 1975 thing. Pull out the October 1998 Awake bound volume - my father confirmed this. 1975 was promoted in other places as well and we all know what the bible says about setting false dates - to not be afraid of those who teach them.
3. The generation that saw 1914 - I was told I never would grow old. I am going to row old and I am going to die. What a mind job.
NOTE - when going into the meeting to get your points across - act like you need clarification and you are not arguing or they will CUT YOU OFF. Play dumb. If they threaten apostasy use what I used on my dad - in the bible Jesus commands that we test our faith and anything taught by man. That shut my dad up right away when he said I sounded apostate. I clarified I was not testing God - just doctrines.

Question for a JW...
by mikepence inthought of this last night while feeling irie.... if you, as a jw, say that you worship god, not an organization, then why do you somtimes round in your own favor on your monthly time report?
-
MrMoe
I never did that as an active JW - but then again maybe this is why I am no longer an active JW.

From Disfellowship-ee 2 Disfellowship-er!
by Englishman ini dont know if any of the old h20 'ers will remember this, but, about 18 months ago, i submitted a post about my new-found jw elder pal, the famous dub-in-the-pub, what a grand fellow he was and how i wasn't going to tell him i was df'd because i didnt believe in enabling dfing habits and, anyhow, i was not guilty of any of the forbidden activities listed in 1 corinthians 4.
11. so there.. basically paul says stay away from loose living persons, grasping persons, idolaters, slanderers, drunkards, swindlers.
now, actually, im fairly ok with that, paul seems to be advising avoidance of the sort of people that i can happily live without.

MrMoe
Thanks for sharing Englishman. Sad, isn't it?
It is one thing to disfellowship when somebody does not give a rat's butt, but it is quite another when people stop what they are doing and express guilt and tears. And shunning is still wrong any way you look at it - as Jesus eat meals with sinners, much to the chagrin of the Scribes and Pharisees.
