I want a Common Marmoset (pet)...

anybody know anything about "common marmosets" as pets?

they are a very small monkey - but don't really look like a monkey.

they are squirrel size and the type i want has large white tufts in thier ears.

I have done further research and it is usually recommended to get a tamarin rather than a marmoset because marmosets are more likely to get aggressive with age. They are both in the same species.

Jan - the marmosets in my area are legal if they are captive breed, but you do need to obtain a license. Marmosets are endangered species. The more research I do the more I realize monkeys are very moody and a poor choice for people with kids. I guess until Emilly is older - it is out of the question. Marmosets bite and love attention but refuse to be held - they are shoulder pets. They also live about 20 - 40 years and believe it or not - can die of loneliness. They are very susceptible to tuberculosis as well and need to be checked constantly.

I would really like to get a sugar glider - but they only live 2 years at best - and I also love hedgehogs - very sweet personalities and they love attention - but they are so darn pokey.

Anybody know anything about "Common Marmosets" as pets? I am seriously considering getting one. They are a very small monkey - but don't really look like a monkey. They are squirrel size and the type I want has large white tufts in thier ears.

I fell in love with one as a little girl and have wanted one for the last 16 years, but before I invest a large sum of money and take on a new addition to the family - I would like to know if they are as sweet as I remember. I know they can be a handful - but at least they are small and can be placed in a 6' x 6' cage while I am at work.

Hope one of you knows about these pets - I need some real first hand information. I know primates make awkward pets - but marmosets are very very small - my main concern is biting and how close they would bond with me. Am I better off getting 1 or 2? I don't want it to be lovey dovey with it's mate and hate me - but I don't want it to be lonely either.

Hope you all can help me out.

Dubs Worked My Street Today

this morning, i went outside for a smoke, and lo and behold, down the street i saw 2 dubs just starting their door-to-door work.

it was an older dub brother i used to know from my old congregation, and an unidentifiable sister.

i knew that they would not be good candidates for the current un/ngo discussion, as he is a dub who really doesn't get it.

Same here Lilacs. I couldn't help it. I always secretly thought disfellowshipping was not scriptural unless somebody did something REALLY BAD. So I tried to help even though I wasn't supposed to.

Anyhow - FreePeace wouldn't have been allowed to talk to them - the one man knew him and I am sure would have walked away as soon as he opened the door. So - if you can't talk to them - why not give them a "warning" peppered with humor.

FreePeace - I am almost curious enough to ask who it was - I just might know them.

Ha Ha! Well - he placed magazines with evil apostates - which broke the rules, didn't it? Thought you are not supposed to witness to anybody df's? Huh. Well- it's OK to make your slip look good I guess!

A question for the ladies

ok bobsgirl got a bunch of advice, now i'd like to hear from the women.

our anniversary (27 years)is this weekend.

i've rented a place that has beach access and a hottub (on whidbey island for those in the seattle area).

Before you go (does she know you are going) have note spread here and there - go to fridge - then go to such an such - go to car (with you) - go to such and such motel. When she gets there see if you can prearrange scattered rose petals everywhere - mostly on the bed.

Give her a really nice foot rub and back massage. No nukie right away - wait a while - even if she begs. Then take a bath - but make sure to soap her up and carress her. TALK. Wait for nukie a bit longer if you can wait until after the romanitic dinner. TALK MORE. After dinner more rubbing and a night of great sex.

When the sex is over, don't roll over and go to sleep, continue to "please her" and maybe you can get a stiffie again - if so go for another round until SHE wants to stop. You don't have to be giving it to a woman to please her.

That's all I can think of.

What Does "New Light" Really Mean?

i understand how the wts uses the term "new light" as a rationalization to explain the mistakes that they are constantly making.

can anyone explain to me what this phrase really means?

i don't like studying the bible very much.

So, who REALLY were/are the "Nephilim"?

once again, i have received a 'writing' on my heart, which i am directed to share with any and all who will 'receive' it.. for many years, the wtbts and others have taught the "nephilim" to be the offspring of angels who had relations with the daughters of men, half-breed beings that wreaked havoc in a violent way in the earth during the days of noah, just prior to the flood.

that, dear ones... is an error... and a lie.. by the spirit of my father, the holy one of israel, jah of armies, that is in me by means of christ, i say to you that the "nephilim"... are spirit creatures, ancient beings... 'of old'... princes from the spirit realm, the 'wicked spirit forces'... that came to the earth to 'fell' earthling man in the days of noah.. these being are those that i saw standing to the left of my father's throne, shrouded in darkness, and 'egging' on the 'battle' between to the two brilliant cherubs on the ark, the 'arkangels', which i related to you previously on h20.

Who knows - may have been aliens. Who said God has to be this ghostly invisible being that floats around in space anyhow? Why not flesh and bone. Not so outlandish when you stop and think we were made in his image so to speak. Read the book of Ezekiel - this book of the bible does make somebody wonder - flying wheels and all and living creatures manning these "wheels". By the way - the wheels were described to have been made out of metal. Hmmmmmm.

Just a thought.

We are forgetting something.

those of us who are no longer jw's were jw's at one point in time, correct?.

we all know for a fact that 95% of jw's do care - so much - that they endure mosquitoes, heat, cold, fire ants, rabid dogs, loss of personal income, spend their free time dedicated to helping others, and much much more to help assholes who hate them to help save their lives.. please - do not carry anger towards these people, because we were once like them (blind.

) it is not their fault they are wrong - because at one point in time we were all like them.

I understand your feelings ashitaka. My family and others are aware of my contrary beleifs and leave me alone. They treat me with love and try to "encourage" me - but I pretty much stay away.

I agree most JW's are VERY judgemental- which is a learned response. They are taught over thier entire life to judge others. It is in the literature, in talks and everywhere else.

I was a JW my whole life and was raised this way. I was judgemental at one point, too. It didn't mean I didn't love others, I just didn't understand where they are coming from. It is part of fear - be afraid of what you don't undertstand. JW's are afraid and live very sheltered lives.
