  Some Witnesses Seem To Relish Bad News

  it may be just my imagination,but sometimes i think witnesses get overly excited when a natural disaster or some violent event happens.

  i guess they feel it proves their point on how awful things are.. my mother seems to be this way.

  she seemed elated to tell me about a couple shootings that took place in our city today.

  i heard a recording of a talk by a bro.

  who's topic was something to the effect of 'coincidences in the history of wtbts and jehovah's direction'.

  i believe it was an american bro., who claimed that a woman who owned a mansion in atlanta, at the time of general sherman's march to the sea, and subsequent burning of atlanta, had her mansion saved.

  diamond-I sure they didn't know what they were talking about. But, unfortunately, it sounds so wonderful to those still 'in' and spouse keeps using this example as proof of God being with the 'org'. I just wish I could remember the blasted woman's name! What I found is that more places than what was indicated by this 'bro.' survived the march, but whole neighborhoods were wiped out by Sherman.

  I'm bumping this thread. The info people have provided above has been very interesting...but, it seems that what I heard from this recording, which has disappeared from my home, seems to date from before the Rutherford era. I believe Russell was the one to make the Photo Drama of Creation and supposedly spent his fortune on it with the help of this alleged heiress whose home survive Sherman's March. Weird, yes...of course, at the time of my listening to this talk, I was duped into how Jah provided. (Stupid, stupid me!)

  murder is wrong... if god orders it however, then murder is right, and failing to murder is a sin.. .

  I've heard the following explaination given regarding David and Bathsheba: God personally judged them, knowing they were both very repentant, he was the one deciding judgement, not some human. He could read their hearts and knew they were repentant. A descendant also had to come from David to be Jesus ancestor. The baby was collateral damage, it should have never been conceived, therefore, didn't really have a right to life, besides which, God can resurrect it.

  I do not agree with the above paragraph. Why couldn't Jehovah have used another of David's sons to be the ancestor to Jesus? If he could read David's heart, why didn't he read the hearts of everyone accused of adultery and make the decision whether to kill or not? If this baby had no right to life due to not being lawfully conceived, can women who were raped have abortions without being disfellowshipped?

I believe it was an American bro., who claimed that a woman who owned a mansion in Atlanta, at the time of General Sherman's March to the Sea, and subsequent burning of Atlanta, had her mansion saved. This was divine direction because she later became involved, somehow as a relative, with the Coca-Cola company, received a ton of money from them, and helped finance the making of early 'Creation' film made by Russell.

  Does anyone know anything about this? I can't seem to find out if she existed. I cannot remember her name. I've tried various websites of Coca-Cola history and which buildings survived in Atlanta, but no luck. My hubby is using this point to help prove god is with the org.

  Any help is appreciated.
