Help! Strange request for info I heard in a Recorded (gasp!) Talk.

  I heard a recording of a talk by a bro. who's topic was something to the effect of 'Coincidences in the History of WTBTS and Jehovah's Direction'. I believe it was an American bro., who claimed that a woman who owned a mansion in Atlanta, at the time of General Sherman's March to the Sea, and subsequent burning of Atlanta, had her mansion saved. This was divine direction because she later became involved, somehow as a relative, with the Coca-Cola company, received a ton of money from them, and helped finance the making of early 'Creation' film made by Russell.

  Does anyone know anything about this? I can't seem to find out if she existed. I cannot remember her name. I've tried various websites of Coca-Cola history and which buildings survived in Atlanta, but no luck. My hubby is using this point to help prove god is with the org.

  Nope, never heard of it. But with reasoning like this, we can also be grateful that her parents had sex that one time---coincidentally conceiving this woman who would one day own a mansion, that would survive Sherman's march, so that one day she could be related to the founders of Coca-Cola, that would one day fund the Creation film!

  Do you wonder how they can say this stuff with a straight face?

  I've never heard that story. A long time ago, I did hear something about the Rothschilds financing the entire "Creation" film project as well as some early printed work by the Watchtower such as the book "Comfort for the Jews"...

  Why would a Jewish family par excellence finance Russell a purported Christian? Maybe one converted. It is funny b/c I had an arbitration concerning my fractured ankle yesterday. I read the deposition and medical summaries over and over to prepare. I realize if I only had my water shoes as I usually do, if I did not give my eyeglasses to an aide but stowed them near the pool, if I was not waiting for an impatient sister, if I had made just one more step, if if if. You can go crazy thinking this way. I know.

  I don't think it matters whether the story is true. It is a story. Why does Jehovah allow entire families or buses full of Witnesses to die in car accidents on the conventions or the KH? Why did someone become Attorney-General instead of someone else less willing to prosecute draft dodgers? Why are Witnesses affected by earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, fires, floods? 9/11 had to disrupt their usual plans. Why did Jehovah allow terrorists to operate so close to Bethel?

  Don't let the name of the link fool you LOL...this is a really interesting website with a full financial rundown of Russell. Nothing about Coca Cola but the amount of companies he owned or partially owned is astounding. Not an particularly stellar record finacially, seemed like he jumped around a lot looking for ways to make a fast buck. The last paragraph is intriguing though...

  Sherman burned down Atlanta in 1864. The photo drama of creation was completed in 1912. That's 48 years. That's a long time in those days.

  Of greater interest (at least to me) is the fact that John Pemberton, who invented coca-cola, was addicted to morphine after treatment for a wound suffered in the war. He invented coke to make sure he could get his fix after Atlanta went dry. Was his addiction also due to Jehovah's forsight?
