the book of job describes a conversation between the devil and jehovah, as everyone knows.

however, satan knew jehovah intimately and would have been well aware of jehovah's ability of foreknowledge.

one would have to imagine that jehovah could have easily just told satan that job would in fact be faithful and therefore spared job the agony he went through, as he had insight because of his foreknowledge that the spirit creatures should have understood.. did jehovah and satan have a high-stakes game going?

Ironically, it was a reference to Job in a Watchtower last year, that made me realize that I needed to fade. Thank you to everyone for your posts.

Did Jehovah and Satan have a high-stakes game going? Was Job and his family the ante? That's what is seems like, but then the foreknowledge question needs to be dealt with.

If there was no foreknowledge available to God, then he would have played the ultimate high-stakes poker with with highest ante ever. This should allow Jehovah's Witnesses the latitude to gamble for sport, as all they would have would be their material possesions, not their lives, in the pot.

Thoughts anyone?

11-year-old niece was told by JW grandmother that she shouldn't play in band

i haven't posted here in a while, but i thought this was worth mentioning, and i just wanted to vent about it.. my brother and sister-in-law, who are now divorced, bought my niece a clarinet about a year ago, so she could play in the band at school.

she loves it more than anything in the world.

one day last week, her grandmother found out about this and got all upset about it.

New type of spider discovered is believed to be one of the most 'evolutionary unique' on the planet

apparently they have just discovered a completely new type of spider in a cave in southern oregon, very different from other spiders.

i thought this was a very interesting find.. "the 'cave robber', a newly discovered spider believed to be one of the most 'evolutionary unique' on the planet.".

Definitely hideous enough. It most likely has been around for millenia. I've done a tiny amount of research on spiders, in an effort to find some reason not to be totally freaked out by the ugly things and found out: a Huge number spider species have never been identified, many are critically endangered due to habitat loss, they are the most common things of the 'bug' variety and are responsible of most of the pest control on earth, including keeping each other in check. They have discovered an unknown type spider in NE Pennsylvania this summer, white an green. Doing the research helped me to gain a tiny amount of empathy for the gruesome things. Now I only kill them when they are in the house...a huge change for me from "Kill it! Kill! Kill!

Yesterday was my Son's 21st Birthday

yesterday was my oldest son's 21st birthday.

as many of you know, i've been disfellowshipped for over 3 years now.

in the spring of this year i did write to the local boe and request my disfellowshipping be rescinded.

00DAD-Please accept my condolence on the loss of your son on his 21st birthday. It is a crying shame that he has rejected you for a crazy concept. Hopefully, he will be resurrected by one day by waking up to TTATT. Meanwhile, I offer a toast of 'good health, mental and emotional happiness, and prosperity' to you on your being out for the last 3 years.

Missing an old JW friend! :|

hi everyone.. about 5 months ago i posted about how a sister and i were talking since i was disfellowshipped.

we are still good friends and we have such a laugh together.

however for the first time since i told her that i dont want to speak about anything to do with the organisation and particularly with regards to me returning to it, today the conversation came up between her and my dad when she came round for a cup of tea.

Tim-It is nice to see your post. It is extremely sad that this woman is trapped in a fantasy world of the JW making. It would be a nice gesture to send your friend a card, in fact is would be a really sweet thing to do. He probably misses you too, and he shares the same memories you do.

wedaug 82012home of jehovahs witness congregation could be your new homepost on end post on .entry-meta lew lew change here end lew change here last week, a reader tipped us off that this kingdom hall of jehovahs witnesses at 1235-37 federal st. was available for sale.. the building.

as opposed to numerous other religious buildings that have gone on the market recently, this building doesnt have any particularly compelling architectural or historical features that make it crucial that its appearance is maintained.

What an ugly, ugly building! No wonder they want to sell it. That fake stone on the front is hideous, as is the crazy 'porch' roof. Blah! I wouldn't give $5000.00 for this space!
