James, darling, thank you for the correction. A bit rusty on my spelling I see.

How did you fare in High School as a JW?
by PaintedToeNail infor me it was rather painful.
it was like pressing your nose against the candy store window, knowing that you can look, but you cannot partake.

For me it was rather painful. It was like pressing your nose against the candy store window, knowing that you can look, but you cannot partake.

Are you a person who TRIES NEW THINGS?
by Terry inso-called type a personalities are risk-takers...or so we are told.. i don't know about that.. i know that people aren't easily categorized into neat little folders of behavior.. .
i know that some of us are very very reluctant to try new things while others have a sense of adventure.. .
are you a person who tries new things?.

I'll try to eat any food once, if I hate it, never again. Sometimes, I gag over what has been sampled, but I've never outright puked. Also, started venturing to the big city to try out museums, something my family never was willing to do...I love the ancient tapestries and iconic art. Started lifting weights.

Having small children go door to door without their parents.
by life is to short inok so my husband still goes out in service.
last weekend he worked with an elder who is in his late 50's, another brother who is in his mid 60's, my husband is in his mid 60's and the idiot who conducted the meeting put a eight or nine year old girl with them.. i asked my husband why?
he said he thought it was strange also.

Also, this young girl may have been extremely uncomfortable going out in the field with 3 older men. I know I would have been at that age. Did anyone bother to ask her? Most likely not.

In Northeastern PA. Heavy rain, winds are increasing and it is cold! I'm hoping that those around here and in NJ, NY and elsewhere are safe.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 10-28-2012 WT Study (WORLD END)

I couldn't get through this review of the WT, could only read through paragraph 7. It makes me sick to read how everything old has been dusted off, polished and rehashed again...just in time to scare a bunch of other people who didn't live through the 1975 debacle.
Blondie, I don't know how you manage to force yourself to do this every week, including highlights from old WT's. You are certainly better prepared than ANY Watchtower conductor I've ever heard.
You deserve a toast, so 'here's to you, blondie'

The Best Fade Ever
by Farkel ini noticed there are current topics on fading so i thought i would re-share my own fade.
i will be brief.. my straw that broke the camel's back was from an arrogant asshole circuit overseer while i was a ministerial servant and pioneer.
i will save you the details.

I know very few JW window washers and cleaners
by MC RubberMallet inmaybe these occupations are quoted to make a point, but it loses meaning when maybe 1% of brothers i know actually has these as jobs..
-
PaintedToeNail
I know 3 brothers who are window cleaners and another 2 who own cleaning companies. I also know far more sisters cleaning toilets, than there are brothers cleaning windows. Unfortunately, in the USA, it is more difficult for women to earn a decent living with only a high school education, than it is for a man...wage disparity...

Standard of Living in the New System
by cobaltcupcake ini used to wonder about this when i was still a dub: since they believe the industrialized world is going to be destroyed and the entire earth will be one big garden, exactly what kind of standard of living do they think they will have?
while they might be able to scavenge, say, a microwave oven or washing machine; and they might be able to figure out how to generate electricity, eventually all of these things will wear out and they'll be back in an early 18th century type of life.
people of that time and earlier who enjoyed a high standard of living employed armies of servants to do the dirty work, but since equality will reign in the ns, everyone will have to toil like a slave just to maintain the basics.. or do they think that big j will magically power their washing machines and water pumps and all the stuff that makes modern living so comfortable?.

I was always perplexed about the 'Jehovah will satisfy the desire of every living thing' aspect. My hubby had proudly announced to everyone what he was going to be doing forever. I told him that was interesting, as I wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with his chosen occupation, so we were obviously going to be separated. His chosen life occupation is to me extremely tedious and boring, and when we were in business, I hated it. He was utterly shocked to think I might want to do something other than what he was doing.
