Got the contract
by LouBelle innow i just have to sign on the dotted line and drop it off and i shall once again be in the permanent job field.
i won't be earning a huge amount by any means but it is enough to cover my bills and to save a little bit.
this does give me that relief of finances coming in, of course i'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for better opportunities, but that being said i shall embrace this new opportunity with open arms and eagerness.. it's been a hellofa tough year people - hellofa tough.

Add me to this list. Incredible isn't it, that so many of us had this physical symptoms? Too bad none of us recognized them for what they were-a cry to 'Get Out Now'! I have a family member on the West Coast who is currently undergoing this problem, but he keeps dashing himself into the proverbial wall, not realising it is the religion itself that is causing him so much distress.

Anyone else like to sew??? What kind of Machine do you use???
by ohiocowboy ini'm ready to get my sewing machines out of hiding, and will be sewing once again this winter.
i'd like to start quilting again, as it is fun to do, eases stress, and is healthier than just sitting in front of the tv.
i have even designed a few items of clothing in the past that i have sold, although i am by no means another madeleine vionet or issey miyake-lol.. i've always liked sewing machines even as a child (much to the dismay of my parents-lol), and there are a couple favorites that i have had for many years.

I have a 20 odd year old White machine in dire need of repair, the danged thing NEVER worked right. After using a Janome at the Custom Home Furnishings Institute, I bought one. It runs great, but I cannot use it to sew more than 4 layers. My son repaired a Free Westinghouse that someone was throwing away, I think it is from the 1920's, and it will tackle anything you give it. It came with a box of attachments, from carpet making attachments to ruffler makers, the only thing it didn't have was a zipper foot or welting maker. We have been trying to find either a zipper foot or welting foot for it, but it has an unusual shank.

The only thing I can think of is the loss of natural affection and the general rudeness of people at large...then I think about the fact that the Israelites were able to sell their kids off to pay their debts, (particularly girls), parents stoning their alledgedly obstinate kids to death, the laming of horses, the tying of fox tails together to burn fields down, canibalism of your own children during seiges, bigamy, incest, genocide...then I realize nothing has really changed, maybe gotten better in the western world.

How did you break the news to your parents?
by tootired2care inso one of the things both me and my wife are faced with is breaking the news that we've stopped going to meetings to our parents.
my wifes parents could go either way, they have made several critical remarks of the wt over the years, while my parents are die hard jw's.
i tossed the idea around of sending a letter or doing a phone call or just not saying anything.. we've decided that were just tired of having to hide our true feelings and play pretend.

tootired-Could you possibly pray before meals with an 'our heavenly father' and leave off the rest? Maybe you could have the visiting family member pray before the meal, and skate around any questions about the KH attendance or Memorial attendance. When with my out of state family and a prayer is said for a meal, I often just say 'men' at the end. There was a poster who suggested saying 'gay-men', which is pretty funny actually. My hubby often looks to see if I say 'amen', so very often I just mouth 'men' to satisfy him.

Watch Tower Publishing Literature To Incite Hatred Towards All Religions, All Earthly Government, And People Not Jehovah Witnesses
by frankiespeakin innow i know that there are some here that can supply plenty of documented proof as to the hatred inciting teachings of the past presidents and the now rulling governing body in the literature they export world wide.. any former member who has changed his mind and no longer excepts these hate inspireing teachings of the governing body is labeled "mentally diseased" meaning these people are to be avoided because they have a catchy mental malfunction that is deadly.. all governments are controlled by an invisible master mind who has only evil intentions and is leading the vast majority of the human race to thier destruction.
and thier followers are encouraged to hate what jehovah hates and jehovah hates all the governments of the earth includeing isreal and even the united nations of which they are members as an ngo.. in russia thier literature is rightly ban because it is reccognized as hatred inspireing.

Frankie-I agree the DF shunning policy is heinous. I was a victim of it for four years. It was horrid, immoral and down right wrong, but it is a protected freedom. The Target corporation has in the past, been shunned by people calling for a boycott of the corp. for the treatment of gay people. The people calling for the boycott do have a right to free speech. Those who chose to shun/boycott Target were within their legal right to do so. Those who chose not to shun/boycott were also entitled to. Did it cause harm to Target probably, but everyone has the right make up their own mind as to what they want to do.

Why are the Jehovah's Witnesses not allowed to carry a weapon (for protection) during field service?
by I_love_Jeff inif jesus allowed peter to carry a sword for protection, why are the jehovah's witnesses against carry a weapon during their "fun" door-to-door adventuring?
it seems jesus did not mind that peter carried a sword if we read luke 22:36-38. is it another case of picking and choosing what works for their man-made doctrine?.
is defending oneself a violent act, according to the jehovah's witnesses?

They are probably more worried about publishers shooting each other in the car, 'Let's take a coffee break', "No, I don't take coffee breaks", "I need my coffee", "No I said!" Coffeeless publisher shoots, and heads to Starbucks.

Preppers and prepping.... thoughts?
by EntirelyPossible inwhat do you guys think of preppers?
i have been watching doomsday preppers on natgeo (it's just a trainwreck, i can't stop watching) and while those guys are a joke, i think have a few weeks worth of supplies and water on had is a good idea (tornadoes, hurricane, freak snow/ice storm, etc.).
however, prepping years worth of food, 5000 rounds of ammo per gun, building a fortified bunker.... what for?

"Party Like Its 1999"-Prince. This reminds me of all the 1999 hoopla that went on. Everything was supposed to go techno dead. I met a family that was moving to Hawaii because of 1999. Hawaii was safer, because they were isolated from the rest of the world. As much as they maybe enjoying Hawaii now, they probably look really stupid to their family members...shade of 1975 anyone?

We seem to be saying nasty things about them. If you want to sue them for infringement of your rights, go ahead. Maybe the ACLU will help you. None of us, not even us born ins, can say that a gun was held to our heads and we were forced to do what they said. I hate the shunning aspect of the Borg, yet they have the right to do it as much as you have the right to shun them back and post anything you want to. Your cannot force other people to talk to you. They could be shunning you because you are too tall, have crooked teeth, were jeans. People cannot and should not be forced to do things they don't want too. Free will, even for JW's comes into play.
Should they be taxed? Yes! The Borg happily uses services from the government that they don't pay for, but, so do all religions. They should all be taxed. Their tax exempt status is questionable. Not their right to free speech.

Any governments erroding of freedom of speech is scary, including Russia. People should have the right to believe what they want to, read what they want too as long as they are not hurting anyone. i.e., child porn, snuff films, inciting people to commit crimes. I never expected everyone I met to like me. Some have probably outright hated me. That is their priviledge. I reserve the right to dislike people too. Most of us here freely express our disdain for the Borg. Our freedom of speech here could be viewed as hateful, yet we all are happy to have a place to vent. Wouldn't it be horrible if we were censured for our opinions? It would be nice if the Borg reviewed their own literature and realised it is hateful, but they won't do that. To have a government review things and decide what can and can't be printed is dangerous.
