Bizarre comment about jw.org at SAD
by sir82 inrecently attended a sad.. bethel speaker was gushing about the wt's embrace of new technology, in the part of his talk warning about "apostate" web sites.. a loose summary of his comments:.
"and the brothers at headquarters have made it very safe for you to go to our website.
in fact, the brothers talked to the folks at google, and they made a special arrangement so that when you type in 'j w period' into the google search engine, it automatically shows you the jw.org website.

Sounds like some kind of search engine optimization. Someone else had a recent post about everyone typing in JWfacts daily to change the optimization, might be a good idea. I only did it one time...

My First Special Pioneer Assignment
by fulltimestudent inmy first special pioneer assignment.- part 1.. in australia, western civilization is a thin strip of land, that hugs the coast.
all the major cities are on the coast.
i grew up on the east coast of australia where the great dividing range, as its called, runs parallel to the coast, and limits the extension of cities like sydney and brisbane.

Really bizarre part on the meeting last night
by stillin inon the service meeting there was a part covering a couple of pages from the tms guidebook chapter on warmth and feeling.
rather than coaching the r&f on how to make a school talk sound warm, it focused on the people that jws meet in their ministry.
basically, the part could have been labelled "how to fake warmth and feeling.

I once met someone who was a deal broker with an energy company he said "once you can fake sincerity, you've got it made"...\

SOME are MORE EQUAL than OTHERS
by oppostate ingeorge orwell's animal farm reminds me a lot of the wt organization.
often we find jwn members quoting from 1984, and so appropriately too.. but animal farm has the pigs being "more equal" than other animals in the farm.
what started as a "congregation of brothers" if it ever really was that in the russellite beginings has become a hierarchy controlled by an oligarchy where some, as the governing body, are more "equal", and thus more powerful and can do no wrong by the less powerful and loyal subjects.. .

Interesting, I often think of Orwell when the WTBTS is talked about.

I feel sorry for just about everyone else.. even the elder's wife
by ohnightdivine ini've been busy with with being busy after knowing ttatt.
after this sunday's meeting i was invited over by one congregation elder's wife to an afternoon coffee.
we're not very close because of the age gap but we've "known" each other for so many years now, being in the same congregation.. she is like the anchor of the group.

I have a dear friend in this position. Her family line will die out with her and her siblings...they all followed the party line. She expressed the same feelings as the wife of the elder. She pioneered her whole adult life, and hated it, but did it because it was expected. She and her husband see themselves aging alone and it depresses them.

Does this count as Nazi collaboration?
by Julia Orwell ina jw friend of mine visited the site of auschwitz-berkenau and bought a book on jws in auschwitz which documents which jws were in the camp, which ones died, and what they did while they were there.
known as honest and industrious workers, a lot of them, especially women, were employed as domestic help in the homes of the ss commanders.
this is well documented.

Being domestic help and watching children did not contribute to the war effort. I agree with Syme, there is no reason not to feel true human compassion for the incredibly unfortunate people who were enslaved, starved, tortured, gassed and incinerated...
