I don't think Esther had a choice in marrying a worldly king. Sshe was rounded up with the other women and required to have sex with a man who would then decide if he liked her enough to marry or be relegated to the harem, never to see a man again, used goods. She was a sexual slave along with the other women, there is no way she should have ever been censured.

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic
by passwordprotected ini first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

Pass-What a wonderful story. Having peace with yourself is a huge thing, and passing feelings of worthiness onto your kids is a true gift.
Wishing you the very best.

So much for the new changes to the appointment of elders, MS and pioneers being because of Jehovah's blessing and direction...more like CYA!

CAn some one help me find a WTBTS court case
by LennaB inhi hello, can anyone help me find a recording of the wtbts being on trial and admitting to their followers believing in a false prophecy.
they said the reason they had their followers believe this was "unity at all costs" i've heard the audio on a few videos online, but have not been able to find the actual source of the clip.
i've seen trnscripts as well (though not official).

I believe is was an 1954 trial where Franz or someone admitted that. The posters 'Terry' or 'blondie' might know, try private messaging them.

my first post! (long read sorry in advance)
by Letts Party inlong time lurker, first time poster here finally looking to get some things off my chest.
i've always been a very curious person with tons of questions about everything, and i also care deeply particularly about societal issues like social injustice, racism, and homophobia.
that, coupled with how boneheaded all the elders in my congregation are (except for one), led me to ask even more questions that led me to find ttatt.. .

You could think of yourself as a heretic or a martyr. Both were burned at the stake for their beliefs. We have burned our bridges and realize we can't go back either. Welcome to the group by the way

Blondie-Is part of your comment at the end of paragraph 7, last sentence incomplete? Just wondering what your complete comment is. Thank you for this article, I have warned my kids that their dad will be wanting to do a bible study with them this evening, as he will feel guilty because of this article. They decided to go to bed earlier this evening to thwart his efforts....

Divorcing my husband of 13 years...
by 2pink inmy husband and i were both born ins.
i left in 2009, and he followed me out a bit later.
we were one of those couples who followed the script, married young and ended up having nothing in common other than the religion.

As much as I hate to admit it, Gustv has a point. Adopting 3 kids with special needs is exhausting in and of itself, much less while having a spouse who is an alcoholic. Didn't the authorities do a background check to see if it would be a good idea to give one family so many disabled kiddies? What about your natural born child are they being relegated to the sidelines because the squeeky wheels are getting all the time and attention? Maybe you could return a child or two to the state admitting it is too much for you now circumstances have changed to the worse. Sounds horrid but...You can't do everything yourself, something will have to be sacrificed, it always does.

Reverse Shunning
by exwhyzee insometing happened yesterday that i thought might be noteworty enough to relate to you here.. mrs. eyz and i were invited to my new boss's home for his annual end of summer party.
it's a pretty big deal....his is a name known locally (i'll call him j.r.) a really nice interesting guy who's held a number of high level and politically connected jobs.
there was to be music, dancing, wine and reprotedly lots of well dressed, well educated, well to do and influential people (oh yes...and us) in attendance.. anyway we thought we'd make an occasion out of it and got ourselves spiffed up which involved new outfits and extra mirror time before we left home.

Gee-I don't remember ever asking anyone to bend over backward for my beliefs. While at school, I sat in the office or library while all the other kids ate goodies and exchanged gifts. When old enough to start working, I worked all the major holidays so my co-workers could have the time off with their families. For sporting events, I turned up late so as to avoid becoming an object of hatred because of refusing to say the Pledge. There were other witness kids who sat out events at school, it was less than fun to know everyone else is having a good time, but you get to watch the school secretary answer phones and type.
A slight bow would have been very polite in place of shaking hands, your girlfriend would've probably been won over by his chivalrous behaviour!
