Are single sisters happier?

this question is for the ladies out there, but if you are a man and you'd like to share your thoughts on the following topic you are welcomed to do so.

given the wt society's view on women, did any of you ladies gave up on the idea of getting married "in the truth".

in such case, did you sometimes feel that you were missing out?

Esmeralda-It almost seems like you are going out of your way to be unhappy for the rest of your life. You were in a very happy relationship with a man, yet choose to end it instead of seeing it through. You are afraid of being trapped in a marriage that will require unquestioning submission to a man. That unquestioning submission is a requirement of Jehovah-Witnesses. The same people you are trying to 'join'. The JW's don't approve of your continuing your education either. You don't want your parents to be disrespected, yet any beliefs they hold that are in conflict with JW doctrine will cause disrespect by others in the congregation. To JW's your parents will always be blind, led by Satan and his demons and under their influence no matter how wonderful they are.

Just why are you studying and trying to join people who disapprove of education, your parents and wish for you to go against natural feelings of being able to hold an opinion different from a man and that the opinion may be valuable? Also remember, the Governing Body will also require your unquestioning obedience to WHATEVER they decree now and in the future. The penalty for non-compliance is disfellowshipping-this after they have separated you from all your family and friends (boyfriend too) to ensure your loneliness....

Hezekiah's Royal seal and Dr. Eilat Mazar's video confirmation of Jerusalem's destruction in 587

on page 55 of the wt's "god's word for us through jeremiah" book the box indicates that head archeologist of israel's jerusalem dig, dr. eilat masar's supports the idea that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce.

its been shown through written and possible verbal interviews with the doctor that she does not support this idea at all.

today i found this video where she states at minute 3:57 that the city was destroyed in 587. this is the first visual proof that i have seen concerning this subject discussed by her.

Interesting find. The video specifically states Dr.Masar saying '586', not '606'.

Churches helping neighbors instead of JW"s

last week where i live we had the worst wind storm in the history of our area.

we had gust of 71 miles an hour from 3 in the afternoon till 8 at night.

it was like a hurricane at times the wind did sound like a freight train.

LITS-Not surprising for the JW's not to be helping their neighbors in a physical manner. The standard line is something like 'We bring a message of lasting hope to real problems' crap instead of actually getting their hands dirty and helping neighbors. If the KH did something like the local church, there would probably be a memo from NY advising 'the proper use of Kingdom Halls being only a place for worship, not for assistance to those in need'.

Very insightful. This poster strikes at the heart of the matter, ISIS is made up by Muslims. ISIS kills fellow Muslims for not being Muslim enough to suit them.

We used to get 4 sets of magazines, plus 2 study editions. Normally I threw away 4 sets of magazines. This occured after they accumulated for several months. I would bury them in the trash, just in case any JW's stopped by and saw them.

Our congregation was periodically asked to take a count of how many we actually used and adjust our order downward. It was obvious that the WTBTS was anxious about printing so many that weren't placed.

Do you need Art and Music in your life?

music and art have been a big part of my life since i was a little boy, and although i was never able to play a decent guitar, i can paint.

my art teacher from college said " i was the most imaginative and constructive pupil she had ever had.

" i loved that comment, because in translation i realised it meant i had to work harder than other more naturally talented students, but the effort was always worth it.

Music-No, I've always loved the sounds heard when all man made sounds disappear. It is wonderful to sit on my patio in the summer and listen to the bees humming in the flowers, birds twittering in trees, squirrels chattering. Human noises physically hurt my ears, they seem to pulsate and it hurts.

Art is another matter, architecture, paintings, interior design, sculptures and such are important to me.

i'm sick and tired of everyone claiming to be "offended".

if you are not politically correct, you will need to apologize for some perceived slight.. when i was an elder, i purposely avoided as much as i could, anybody that got easily offended.

Rebel-I had to look up 'Gollywog'. It reminds me of a Raggedy Ann doll, except she has red hair. I'm offended that no one has been offended for red-heads who are offensively represented by a stylized red yarn-haired doll.

i wasn't convinced that david received an answer that was satisfying [essentially its a mystery, god is too big to understand etc..] i wanted to talk about that more.

the more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.

he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".

he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

The guy who forced his sex slave (concubine) to return home with him after she ran off and left him. He wined and dined with her father, then set off on the journey home. Along the way, he stopped over night. The locals wanted his ass (literally) and instead he gives his sex slave to them to do whatever it is that they want to her. She crawls back to the door of where he is staying after being repeatedly raped and violated. He gets up, opens the door and tells her to get up as they are continuing on their journey. Shock of shocks she is dead. He then decides to further violate her by dismembering her corpse and sending the pieces to the various tribes of Israel.

Nice guy-no wonder she ran away from him. Life with him must have been unbearable. She knew him to be the pig he was.
