  Once there was an old, wrinkly woman who had a faithful cat that she loved very much. One day, while cleaning her attic, she happened upon an old tarnished lamp. Upon rubbing the lamp vigorously with the corner of her apron, a genie popped out, and offered her three wishes. She thought a moment and said "I'd like to be young and beautiful". Poof...She was young and beautiful. For her second wish, she said "I'd like to be incredibly wealthy". Poof...she was surrounded by piles of cash and jewels. The genie then told her "you have one more wish". She thought for a moment and spying her beloved cat, told the genie, "All my life I wanted a faithful, loving man to share my life with, but I've never met one. My dear cat is very loving and faithful, please turn him into a man who loves me". Poof...There, in place of her beloved cat, stood a gorgeous, handsome man...the handsome man turned to her and said "Don't you wish you didn't have me neutered last week?!"

  Weird Avon Lady story?

  can someone tell me that i wasnt the only one who was told the story of this avon lady who died because she wasnt protected by angels??

  Probably not. I remember stories of JWs being protected by invisible angels while working creepy homes, the angels were only visible to the dastardly householder who wanted to do in the good publisher(s). How the publisher(s) ever found out they had invisible angels by my side is never clear.

  Do you know the oldest Kingdom Hall personally that still exist today?

  I believe the one in Roseto Pennsylvania was built in the 1950's. They have a 'watch' tower and everything.

  this is a very disturbing account from a jw girl who posted this on another site.

  please don't read if you will be affected by the comments... i'm 23 years of age and i was raised as a jehovah's witness.

  thanks to my cousin for introducing me to "apostate" videos online, and a few other major reasons that i will get to soon, i've disassociated myself for a little over a year now.

  I'm working on 'the list' too. I feel alienated and lonely...but I can't seem to force myself to do what they want me to do, which is tow the line and preach the word. The thought of breaking the hearts of my throughly deluded parents is almost impossible for me to comprehend, so I try to non-combatant-like when around them. It is really, really difficult, as I love them very much and they are already 'grieving' over having lost one of my siblings from the 'truth'.

  when i saw this article on the news it really disturbed me.

  the callousness of the 'people' walking by this poor, sweet baby as she lay writhing in pain and all alone, was horrific to say the least.

  my blood truly felt like it ran cold and i've been thinking about this little girl all night.

  CoCo-very sad and touching, my heart aches for you.

  NoRoomForGeorge-I've asked that same question, Paul himself said it was his opinion. The answer I got was that because it was in the bible, it was inspired by God, so Jehovah must agree with it. (???)

  I just read that this little baby is brain dead. Her mother is fervently hoping for her to somehow wake up. I also read that this poor little girl lay in the street,in a pool of her own blood, crying, for 10 minutes. She would have probably been OK if the original driver hadn't decided to run over her a second time. The woman who finally did help her was a homeless person, according to news reports. What a good woman.

  @Nomad-the little girls mother, it was reported, was retrieving the family laundry. Children escape their homes/shops or wherever they maybe. I'm sure the mother has retrieved her laundry a million times and nothing bad happened. Perhaps even someone else was watching her at that moment and turned away for a second. There appear to be shops lining the street, the family probably lived above one of the shops at night and worked there during the day.

  To everyone else-it was also reported that this ignoring behaviour is typical in China. They have a saying something to the effect of 'If you didn't cause the accident, why would you ever help the person?'. This tidbit of info was off the same news article. To me, it seems as if life is cheap in Asia, when you consider the number of children killed in munitions factories, shoddily built schools, child labor injuries, to say nothing of the adults. It was reported that China has no animal protection laws, communities with no compassion for animals always have compassion problems with people. They go hand in hand.
