  All those articles reduce homosexuality with sex, which is insulting. They reduce it to that and ignore all the rest, the love feelings, the trust, the relationship and the family you may want to build, to something they can debase to fuel their hateful dogma. Tell your mom it's not about sex, and tell her she's a hateful and loveless person. She is the reason for your trauma, homosexuality isn't any more than heterosexuality could be.

  Your mom is just showing how little she cares about your feelings, she can't accept them as long as she is a slave to the cult.

  The last testimony, and its 3 partners a day "moderate" gay sex lie is so hateful I'd suggest you send a copy to the nearest LBGT association for advice and comments. Maybe get a local journal involved, so the WT and your mom's delirium are publicly confronted with reality. Even when you know that what she says is wrong on all levels, the mud she throws still leaves a trace, and that's not good for you long-term.

  As far as the fact she can't believe Jehovah would exterminate homosexuals if they were born that way, she's following the same fundamentalist denial of reality they do on a daily basis.

  Question to the wise ones

  just want to know what anyones thoughts/advice please.

  am doing my best to put the "bf" out of my mind and move on (did a real number on me) but more things have come to light recently but if i was to "rat on him" who would i approach and how would i phrase it?

  i doubt if going to go down that road but would be interested to know.

  I'd say move on, but the wife at least deserves to be told the truth. Do it in writing if you're too afraid to see her in person, but she needs to know, if he's fooling around unprotected he'll eventually pass her some MST, and if he's fooling around he'll eventually leave her at an age where she won't have much chances to find love again. Saying "she probably has her suspicions" don't cut it, in mariage one can give his trust and expect the best from his/her spouse, and that doesn't mean they should be punished for it.

  She's probably having a shitty mariage and not understanding why, trying her hardest to be the perfect spouse and making her own life miserable in the process. Truth makes you free, it doesn't only apply to religions.

  Edit: don't tell him you're going to talk to his wife, or have done so. Make it clear to his wife, that way she can chose to act like nothing happened if she wants. And please advise the wife to see a lawyer before acting on any decision she wants to make, and see the lawyer before she even talks about it to anybody else, elders included.

  That way you won't be acting out of vengeance, but out of basic human decency.

  I'm half way through CCMC and I've got Releasing the Bonds at the ready ;)

  I'm not doing that for myself. I was mentaly out a fraction of a second after I realised the Flood story didn't add up (though there was a slower preparatory work before I could ask myself the question), and I don't depend on anybody still inside the cult for anything. There was nothing left to be called familly long before I realised it was not the Truth, and I was taught early on never to depend on others. Not a healthy way to live, but helpful when trying to survive inside a cult.

  I'm trying to help JW I know because that's the chance I wished somebody had offered mewhen I was in and still in good health. I'd like to do it the best way though, and while I'm already aware about the pointlesness of doctrine discussions, your approach is what I'd like to know more about. Neither you nor Steve Hassan have really described it in a howto way, and that would help me a lot.

  I hadn't realised you were turning 80, in my mind you're still that young guy from the videos! I don't want to impose, I'm grateful for the help you've already provided me in understanding how to help other Witnesses.

  I've watched your talks on Youtube before, now I'm going to watch the 2 post-interventions videos you also posted.

  Having still a lot of people in the JW I'd like to give a chance to get out, and having talked to 5 already, I'm really interested in learning more about the method you use to help someone in 3 days, especially what you call the primal approach. I don't see it explained in your videos, and I don't remember having read in on freeminds either. While I can infer a bit from the videos, the Hassan books and this thread, that's more like guesswork than any real understanding.

  Thanks a lot for this insight Dogpatch.

  Your opinion on family members asking help for somebody else feels spot one, I've never connected the dots on this.

  So do you now only accept request for help from the person themselves, or do you also accept referals but then only work one on one with the person needing help, leaving others out of the process?

  And did you ever relate some of your experiences in helping Witnesses or ex-Witnesses anywhere, because I'd be interested to read them.

  I know some shove it in your face... and so who can blame you for shoving back. Many (but not all) of those points in the OP ARE offensive. But some think they can define all people of faith as the same... so I am hoping that you are not doing so. Because if you are, then are you not stating that everyone who has a different world view than your own (faith) is offensive?

  Having left the Jehovah's Witness fundamentalism, I do not condomne fundamentalism. It shouldn't be that hard to understand why many people here do not agree with your, Shelby's, or anyone else's fundamentalism, and point to its flaws in an attempt to conterbalance it and bring a bit of reason in discussions.

  Do not misconstruct distate for your fundamentalism with distate for believers. Nobody here has any grips with jgnat, dogpatch and plenty of others with a belief in God and in Christ (or just in God), we just wish the fundamentalists toned it down a bit so the former would speak and express their opinions more often. I do not find their opinions offensive, I actually find their comments interesting and enlightening, and if you and other fundamentalists didn't drown out their voices on this forum more would realise that there's more to Christianity than the simplistic beliefs you express.

  i'm leaving this pretty open, but the last great deal i got was a new-quality steif plush (about $70 dollar value, i'd optimistically guess, when it was new).

  for about 2 or 3 bucks.

  Diest, I believe that picture shows the way Islam views and treats women as trash, not the personnal views of the photograph or of the poster. You'll notice it's not "Muslims" represented in the picture, but the style of burqa proponed by the most fundamentalists, ones that makes women looks like shapeless bags.

  I'm not sure you can conter-quote a fundamentalist (thanks James Woods). I don't think that strategy could have shown me the fallacies of my beliefs when I was a Witness, since we're expert at deviating arguments, and even better at interpreting/massaging scriptures. You don't fight crazy with crazy...

  On the other hand, pointing a miss of logic can put in perspective some claims. Maybe the OP can get that the fact so many Muslims don't act like him doesn't mean they're less (or more) True Believers, and that his dismissal of those that chose to celebrate the only "pagan" celebration he choses to object is distasteful. As far as starting the journey to realise why the Bible and the Qur'an can be used to promote pretty horrible teachings (hint: they are full of horrible teachings once you get past the True Believer's distortion field), that would be a tad ambitious.

  botchtowersociety, the good thing is Mohammed had time to do plenty of things during his whole life. And fondamentalists have a field day with this, as they have with the Bible and the Qur'an, quote mining according to what they want people to do.
