Lars: Can we examine your Messiah qualifications ?
by mP inhi lars,.
if you want to claim your the messiah, thats fine but first we must examine the facts and ask a few basic questions.
i am of course accepting your word as honest.. i think everybody is well aware that the messiah will come thru david.

With all the attention given to child molestation in the church now--
by cptkirk inis it getting any better?
or is it still happening at the same rate?
was listening to o'reilly tonight as i was eating dinner and heard him say that virtual child porn is actually legal, that sort of blew my mind a bit..

Yeah I guess it depends like you said, there were a few that talked about it a bit. I think it is just a bad idea to dump on them for no other reason than dumping on them at the door. it just re-affirms their views in general. The only witnesses that I've attacked are grown men well able to deal with me confronting them, and it is always when I have leverage on them (based on intimate details). I'd never just attack (verbally) a random witness. I'm not saying that you would, but just putting that out there.
You want to hear something funny? When I was studying in 96 I remember a guy that was coming to the meetings (as someone's study); this guy had a drug problem (not a light one either), the kind where as soon as you meet eyes with them you know they are on the moon type of drug addict.....but anyway, somehow I wound up in a conversation with one of the elders (these were not hick elders either these were elders that were closely and intimately connected with bethel) geographically and otherwise.....so the elder was on the phone with this guy, and he could tell that he was blown out of his mind (he was calling to see if he was coming to the meeting), when the elder hung up the phone i asked if he was coming, he said no that he was blown out of his mind on xyz drug. I must have said something to indicate something like, well why should that stop him? and this is what the elder told me lucid and dead serious, he said: he would not be allowed into the kingdom hall, because the angels would be standing at the doors making sure that he could not enter. These were the people that shaped my early and developing jw mindset, so yea, when the wheels came off, they really came off. the point obviously being that if the angels were going to stop this guy that was high on drugs from entering the kh, they sure as hell were going to stop pedophiles....guess not. :\

Listen, you want to be effective pickler, my advice is don't just drop a shit ton of grief on their shoulders, instead, very politely just tell them that whatever good they do or whatever they represent (for arguments sake) is completely undone by the fact that they do not protect children from pedophiles, and that they do protect the pedophiles themselves. very simple, nobody could argue it. ie. the worst thing that you can do to them when they knock on your door is not embarrass them or grief them to death, but to politely show them that they are in the wrong, and it is not a matter of "i'm sorry you feel that way" ,it is a matter of clearly indicated facts(thousands of damaged kids), just show them the newspaper clippings of jw molesters, and tell them 'im sorry this is not a debate about an invisible realm, these are facts based on tangible evidence', and hand it to them. thank you goodbye, and that is more effective than anything you could do otherwise.

Happy belated b day to me: 30 years old on Feb 16th.
by Joliette inthought the world was gonna end between 2000 and 2010. can't believe its still here.

i made some life decisions that i would not have otherwise made based on that premise (the world was definitely going to end 2000-2010). i remember when 9-11 happened and it was like oh this is going to be it i guess, or at least this is going to be the thing that kicks it off. 12 years later....my belief system is in shambles.....and the realization that all those people (family/friends) telling me "you are not one of them", "get a life"(basically)....were in fact actually looking out for my best interests ,and were not some kind of grand test. trying to think of something that is analogous (that is probably a jw trait too--looking for something analogous)......actually just thought of the perfect analogy, it's a movie, "The Game" with Michael Douglas, go rent it, you will love it. might make you not feel as bitter about your jw experience too(to whoever may feel that way).

This thread was reminding of a commercial that i saw few months ago (why is it that the good commercials always get pulled and the shitty ones stay around forever?). I can't remember what the commercial was advertising, but it was talking about online college and how you have to "haze" yourself; so this big dude is standing in the kitchen and he opens a cabinet, then he walks back a few paces, runs full speed at the cabinet and smacks right into it then does a flip and smashes his head on the refrigerator......why do these good commercials always get pulled?

Pulling the rug out from under the "apostates"
by konceptual99 inwould anyone agree that recent comments and changes to wt doctrine are designed to try and pull the rug out from under long established counter reasoning put forward by those the wt would consider apostates?.
the section in the recent wt, whilst not an apology, is apologist in it's tone and suggests that the wt society has just been doing the right thing by setting expectations.. apostate: "you keep saying the end is coming and it still hasn't.".
wt - "well, our zeal in following jesus may have prompted us to raise expectations too much but we are only doing what we are asked to do.".

jgnat: that was a big one for me, learning that what you said is true. they are reactionary not visionary. realizing that they are reacting to xyz in the background and then presenting it as if they had some kind of supernatural information that they are using to pre-empt any given circumstance. i think this organization is headed for a "great depression"....they are all going to sign up on jwn haha. like i said, i even feel bad for them in a way....i say that because "nobody" has the clear cut answers, if there were clear cut answers somewhere, then i would not feel this way. seeing that nobody does have the clear cut answers, it's hard not to empathize to some extent with these guys. unlike some on this board, it is hard for me to believe they actually set out with some sort of ulterior motive to become a powerful publishing company, maybe i'm wrong though.

Do you think those at the top realise that it's their fault - suicide as a result of being disfellowshipped?
by jambon1 ini have been stunned to hear of two suicides in our area recently.. this adds to the other 3 that i have known of from the past.. the two recent suicides resulted from 1-the person being gay & hearing a horrific talk at the kingdom hall & 2-the person with problems who was disfelloshipped & then took his life the next week.. it astonished me that jw's in general don't rebel against this sort of thing.
it's an appalling lack of support which leads people to feel distressed, abandoned & unloved.
how the witnesses in the locality can just sail on without giving the cruelty of these measures serious though is beyond me.

chichi: this is generally one reason why apostates are "angry", knowing that people are out there like yourself who have been brainwashed to believe they are the walking dead all because of what? all because a fallible organization claimed to be infallible. they also said "this generation will not pass away", well guess what, that generation is deader than disco, stiff as a board, all lying in coffins side by side. that is one of many lies that they have put in black and white print and cannot be "debated" away.
