QFR: "Warning - memorial partakers might be loonies!"

as part of my objective analysis of four month's worth of watchtower study editions from july to october 2011, i found the following gem from a question from readers, on page 22 of the august 15 magazine.

the question under discussion was "how are we to understand the figures in the annual service report?

", and it goes on to provide an idiot's guide to what the figures mean, including the following.... "memorial partakers.

If partaking at the memorial is something that one might do mistakenly because he/she is mentally or emotionally imbalanced, what assurances do we have that individual members of the Governing Body themselves are not suffering from similar delusions? How is there any way of knowing for sure either way?
If memorial partakers as a whole are to be openly discredited, shouldn't the validity of Governing Body members as anointed co-rulers with Christ be similarly open to scepticism?

Given that memorial partakers might be partaking unworthily, shouldn't elders be questioning these individuals congregation-by-congregation to ascertain their state of mental/emotional health, particularly in the light of Paul's words at 1 Corinthians 11:27, "Consequently whoever eats the loaf or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will be guilty respecting the body and the blood of the Lord."

Im being disfellowshipped

i was supposed to go to a judical meeting on sat but i told the elders i wasnt going but they held it anyway.

its going to be announced that im going to be disfellowshipped at the weekend.

hate the fact my parents wont talk to me anymore.

love is relative. better to give the family hard facts which show the true beginnings of this cult, and it's laughable (self proclaimed) status as "the truth". all you need is their past publications, and a little bit of sunshine, to reveal the truth, about "the truth".

they practically cornerned the market on sizing people up, and either discounting them or accepting them.

i honestly think they are in a state of constantly judging just about everyone around them, including their spouses.

that scripture by itself has one context, read it with the next few verses and it has a different context. he's passing judgement to dad sounds like. if there is some mystical truth, it has nothing to do with the bible.

was thinking about that post maninblack made...reminded me of an experience that just about put me on the floor, right before i stopped going. was out with this sister in service, and she made a stop on this call...(rather not give to much detail)...but apparently a fairly large sized family was inside the house, and one of their family members was dying....so we go up to the door and this woman answers (early 60's probably)...and she looked really upset depressed.....sort of just cracked the door open and indicated this was a bad time, real heavy shit was goin on inside there...so the sister i'm with literally takes the watchtower and rams it through the 2 inch crack the woman had on her storm door, rams it right in her face...woman takes it and slams the door...wtf??

i just thought i'd share something if you don't mind.. my conviction in the legitimacy of the society was slowy eroded over a number of years simply by reading the publications and becoming increasingly frustrated at how little the interpretations of prophecy and scripture made sense, added to the complete ineptitude of senior figures in the organisation.. for me, the "glue" that kept everything roughly held together into something that can be called a "faith" was the concept of "increasing light", which as you all know is the principle employed by the society to excuse any mistakes or backtracks that are made.

they routinely flog proverbs 4:18, which as we all know has nothing to do with gradual refinements in understanding when read in context.

regardless of this, the concept managed to keep me loyal to the organisation for quite some time, as i was too fearful to bring it under direct scrutiny.

he can only start with the firm confiction.......no...the positive position that a certain teaching/topic is irrefutable... because it comes directly from god on his wi-fi144k/2b link ....then his and many other hardcore jws very ability to reason may be lost as it is with my dad.

ah (overused jw word) but in order to reason your way to an answer on any topic...you must be able to consider and meditate (overused jw word) various information, other possibilities, alternate positions that may a better answer to or better define the topic.

uh-uhh...he cant do that...because he already has all the answers...not only is there is no need to really reason on the topic, but the very ability is totally removed....even for a man as smart as my dad...he cant even consider an alternate view that may be more correct, because there cant be one more correct than that of wt .

its hard for us to understand when we become something much greater than our parents. it's hard for it to sink in, because we instrinsically see them as greater than us. it's difficult to realize they are just looking for someone to tell them what to do like 90% of everyone else in the world.
