Golden Age Goodies

recently i had the pleasure to examine a stash of 1920s and 1930s golden age magazines, among the rarest of watchtower publications.

i thought it would be a fun idea to have a thread in which i share with you some of the amazing, ridiculous, hilarious things contained therein.

hence, this is the first post of a series of excerpts, scans, etc.

Golden Age (the Watchtower magazine before it became the Watchtower) is a great resource for nutty content. It's only about 1 step away from Larsinger running the entire corp. Totally reactionary, almost like someone was sitting behind a desk drunk and just writing a response to every piece of news. They keep talking about the nazification of the US and then they turn around and ask if the current jews who are running everything are the jews that were foretold in the bible, anyone see any irony there?

this thread is a great resource considering the "best of" is laying in ruins lol.

Another scripture that has questionable language with regard to satan

of course even people with novice level bible understanding know that paul had a "thorn in the flesh", what they may not know, or not have bothered to also observe is the bizarre language with which was used to convey this thought.. "turn with me in your bibles please to 2corinthians 12:7" <----lol.

an "angel of satan" was sent to paul.......hmmm, were the writers of the bible apostates?

they called satan's minion an angel?

an "angel of satan" was sent to paul.......hmmm, were the writers of the bible apostates? they called satan's minion an angel? it is more interesting than that though. why would one of satan's "angels" want to help jehovah? in other words, it was apparently determined that paul was too high on himself, and therefore he needed a constant reminder so that he would stay humble, what the hell does satan care about this? *clears throat* *ahem* hey satan, i got this guy paul here and he is really an egomaniac, so i was just wondering, would you help me out here and send one of your "angels"? (and when i say send i don't mean like one time), i mean send to stay with him constantly, and just slap that son of a bitch every now and again? ok thanks.

I remember a friend that i had who was my age at the kh, there were a bunch of us all around the same age 18-25, and the one guy got df'ed....i remember just thinking that i'm not supposed to talk to him, and then being surprised that he came to the meeting immediately after being df'ed. i remember just thinking this is bullshit, fortunately he was re-instated within a few months and that was over. i remember going to his house before the df and being surprised at this vast video game library, games that we weren't supposed to be playing. at one point i remember thinking to myself, am i the only one that actually follows the rules? although truth be told, 75% of these guys are all now either circuit overseers or married to circuit overseers, congrats to them, and thank god i am not one of them.

it's just like online school, get the material, read the books, participate as you would be just participating on this web board, take tests etc. i would suggest that if you are interested you better get in on it soon, because i have a feeling it's not going to be around very long (at least in the same iteration)....i think it is nice for ex witnesses because you get the chance to say "i am certified by MIT or Harvard", give you some pride back in your life.

i told them my son is a witness, so years ago i started doing quite a bit of research about their organization.

this is exactly what i was saying, and it seems to have worked. although, i would not go so far as to say "most" are honest nice people lol :P maybe half at absolute best.

The Bible and Masturbation...4000 years of inspired input and no scriptures about it ?

my philosophy when i was a teenager :"those who admit to it are stupid ,those who deny it are liars" that was my response to peers who posed such a subject when i was a teen .now, being a mature aged person i think this subject could do with a bit more enlightened content.. i am a male so i can`t speak for the females ,who, i hope will give their input on this topic for discussion.and i mean it as a serious discussion.. males experience erections from the time they are babies and the natural thing to do is to hold it , and before you know it fondling it gives you releif.. society doesnt help by making you feel guilty and like shit as a dirty person.why in the world do babes ,young children ,young boys get erections before they even know what it`s function is for.

if a god designed sex for procreation then surely this wouldnt become an issue until they reached the age of puberty ,not when a male is still a baby.. and getting back to my op nowhere in the bible does it talk about masturbation which surely has been going on since adam was a boy/man.. i`m sorry, but to deny that you would have to be a complete idiot ,imbecile ,fool ,or just brain dead.. so for 4000 years of inspired scriptures from god ,nothing is said about a condition that effects every man from his birth to his death .. makes you wonder doesn`t it ?.

i'll tell you why very simple: it is only in the last 100 years or so that women have been able to get out of the 2nd class citizen role. if you were a man and you were horny, simply grab the woman and take her (just make sure you also marry her if you want to avoid that fornicator thing).
