Losing Loved ones to Death While in the Org..

did anyone lose beloved family members or friends to death while in the org?

if so, how did you feel about it once you came out of the cult and figured out that everything you'd been taught about the new system coming soon, and loved ones being resurrected was a big fat lie you'd been spoonfed?

how did you feel and react to that?.

I don't know if you are talking to me, GodRules, but I never said I had no faith in the resurrection, only that it brought no comfort. When there is a death, and a feeling of great loss, you just want them back NOW.

They got a song wrong !

not many people know but.... the song book is ordered alphabetically by the first word in the song.

i guess it helps to find it when you missed the number and everyone starts singing.. i just noticed though that song no.

28 is out of sequence.

For years, we had a PO who was a pretty somber guy, elderly, but occasionally would come up with something pretty funny. One night, he was sitting in front of us, and when the song started, he turned around and said "this song always reminds me of the song, Bill Grogan's Goat." And it did, too. I never sang that song again, without a big grin, or giggles. Can't remember it now. Maybe someone can help us out?

Thanks Rcat, and what makes it all worse, is that my sister in law could have been saved with blood. The baby was stillborn, but it might not have happened if she hadn't been trying to have it at home. By the time they realized there was trouble, and went to the hospital, it was middle of the night and no specialists on duty. They pulled the baby out, with forceps, and we believe they killed him then. They ruptured an artery on my sister in law, with the forceps, and she bled out really fast, but surgery, did control things for a few hours, but she died that evening. All the time, the doctors were begging to be allowed to give her blood. My brother is still so bitter about that. He has been df'd since 1978, and never looked back. We were all true believers, though, and we shunned him for 17 years. On top of all the other pain he had, he lost the rest of his family.

what is the wts's current view on resurrection of disfellowshipped people?

a few years ago, an older sister's df'd son died of aids in sf.

when she and her unbeliever husband returned from the funeral, she said "he is in jehovah's hands.

Thank you AGuest. It was nice of you to write all that as a comfort to me, but I am an ex JW, and have no concerns for her future life, but only wanted to understand what her grandchildren might be told, so I can undo it sometime in the future. I know disfellowshipping is strictly a man made thing, and not approved by God.

Flamethrower, are you really in Borneo? Or should I say "on" Borneo? Are you the Indonesia part or Malaysia part? I have a friend who lives in Sabah (Tambunan). I am dying to go there, and see the mountain. I almost climbed it in 1996, but chickened out at the last minute, and stayed in West Malaysia.

When Reinstated...NO APPLAUSE!

the other evening a young person was reinstated and the jerk-water elder making the announcement went out of his way to remind "the friends" that applauding would not be proper.

what mind control, bunk, dribble, bull................ they are so loving aren't they?

i shoulda applauded anyway.

This is the reason given when they made this change back in the 80's. I was horrified and my elder husband explained it to me.

When a person is reinstated, it means he has been REPROVED. Or proved again. (that's what they say) So, since you don't applaud when a reproof is announced, you also don't applaud a reinstatement. It made sense at the time, but I still think the whole process is bogus........except for murderers and child molesters. Everything else is no one's business.

Thank you. She is a "heretic" like the rest of us, so not likely to try for reinstatement. She got a card from her brother this week, who had just been to the District Convention, and he urged her to get reinstated. So, I wondered if they talked about it at the convention at all. I didn't think so, since no one has said so on this board.
