  just had to share this.. we were at the tulalip casino yesterday, a very large indian casino north of seattle.

  ray romano and brad garrett were there playing poker and blackjack.

  it was weird.

  Chris Meloni was at Planet Hollywood. The table across from us had John McEnroe playing. Also saw Andre Agassi and his wife, Steffi Graff walking through, and Kanye West coming down an escalator. No one pays attention to them. Kanye had bodyguards though, and I had to be told who he was..........would not have known otherwise. There was a celebrity event there that night, where they got gift bags, prior to the MTV awards that were the next night.

  I'm going in May with 9 of my friends, to Planet Hollywood again. Wish I could be at the WSOP event too. That would be fun to see, just once. I'd try and play if I could afford the entry fee.

  We were at the Tulalip casino yesterday, a very large Indian casino North of Seattle. Ray Romano and Brad Garrett were there playing poker and blackjack. It was weird. They were walking through the casino, and no one paid any attention to them. Our dealer told us they were there, and then they walked past us to the blackjack table where they played undisturbed for quite awhile and then left. Brad Garrett is REALLY tall, and Ray is pretty skinny. Wish they had played at our table. That would have been fun.

  Someone said they are doing a standup comic show in Seattle this week which explains why they were in this part of the country at a casino.

  Last summer Christopher Meloni played poker next to me in Las Vegas. His friends would come by the table and call him Chris. He looked familiar to me, but I couldn't place the face and then I realized who he was and asked him if he was Chris Meloni. He said he had never heard of him, and that his name was Tom. For those who don't know who that is, he plays Elliot Stabler on Law and Order SVU. He was nice and I don't blame him for not wanting the attention. I dropped the subject, but it was him.

  they had this sale on cool coffee mugs and i just said damit i'm going in.

  when I was a JW I used to go to those stores all the time............so did the other pioneers. Sometimes we would go while out in service. They had the best greeting cards, very appropriate for baptisms, and lots of Bible translations and other reference works. One of them in our area, would print your name on your Bible for you for a small fee. It was no big deal.

  The Chautauqua Institute is a "must experience" for you seekers....

  hey all,.

  several years ago, when i was in one of my really "sour on religion" phases, some of my post-borg new friends introduced me to the chautauqua institute, near jamestown n.y.. this is one of the coolest places on the planet.

  the institute was started by some methodist ministers in the 1800s as a forum for dialogue between religion, hard science, and the social sciences.

  my grandmother, who was born in 1885, was from there. I've researched Chautauqua county a lot but never found that institute. Thanks.

  My mother is 95 and still an active JW. (that's the only sad part) Her mind is as sharp as it ever was, but she is slowing down and her vision is poor. She loves to read and absolutely loves baseball season. She is a huge Mariners fan. She also plays piano beautifully.

  YouTube Videos That Move You

  we've all got songs .

  i'm not so much a movie/film affeciando, but i know many are.. music is more my forte.. i've been delving back deep into music i once used to listen to not only as a little boy, but also the time while a jw (1977-1984); post-jw and of course, years leading up closer to where i am now.. any recommendations?.

  i noticed on some threads, that some youtube videos started right away; i liked that.

  Me too..........absolutely LOVE it!!

  I like this one from American Idol too. I had never heard this song before and it is so beautiful, and the way this contestant sang it, is far superior to John Lennon. He was a great song writer, but a ho-hum singer. I still like him though.

  Hollywood’s Up in Smoke – Again.

  i'm hyper sensitive when it comes to smoking.

  even when i haven't seen a person near me with a cigarette in their mouth, my eyes will water up and get itchy.

  i'll start sneezing.

  We go to Indian casinos quite often..............smoking is allowed on Indian owned properties, and the ventilation is very good. We both smoke, but it is VERY irritating to have another gambler complain about smokers loudly and fan the air. I ignore them. I am polite and don't blow in their face and hold the cigarette behind my back so it doesn't drift on them. If they are very rude about it, I will give up my politeness. Is that mean?

  Once in awhile I will sit next to someone with a handkerchief over their face fanning away the smoke, while playing slots. Ridiculous!

  There are non smoking casinos.............I say "go to those". Smoking is banned in all public places in this area, and they are trying to get it banned in your own car too. I never smoke in my car, so it wouldn't affect me, but it seems like a stretch to ban it in vehicles. What's next? Your house? Never smoke in the house either.

  alternative medicine/healing...tried any? is it nuts?

  i have gone to chiropractors for years...and some are pathetic quacks....some really help me.

  i had severe tendonitis in my elbow and tried reg.

  doctors for six months...was helped more in one visit to a acupuncturist!

  well............here we go again.

  As I've said before on numerous other alternative medicine threads, my father was a Naturopathic Physician, very successful, and practiced alternative methods for 40 years or so. I grew up with the philosophy and most of it is right on.

  Traditional medicine treats symptoms, period. If you have a backache, they give you pain meds. A chiropractor will treat the cause of the pain.

  Most MD's only use symptom treatment, while an ND (Doctor of Naturopathy) treats the cause..........it may take longer to feel better but you get well, and don't just mask the symptoms.

  Dad used to explain it like this: "Garbage attracts rats. Medicine kills the rats, but we get rid of the garbage so the rats leave and have nothing to feed on".

  Having said that, I do acknowledge quackery, and there is plenty of that out there too.

  I believe in blending both philosophies. Common sense helps a lot.
