  GB disassociates itself!!

  dear brothers:

  as you have admitted, the watch tower bible & tract society did join the united nations as a non government organization in 1992 ending in 2001, and according to the following watch tower this means that by their own actions they disassociated them selves from jehovahs organization which means that we must treat them like disfellowshiped ones.

  in other words they are no longer jehovahs witnesses or have any right to that name.

  Do you justify your association with "apostates" by pointing out the WTS's association with "the whore of Babylon?" That's the "you-do-it-too" fallacy, I think. But I admire your rebellious, independent spirit in coming here and trying to make us see the light, be it new light, flashlight, old light, the light at the end of the tunnel or the Watchtower strobe light.

  That having been said, I wonder if your next post will try to convince us "apostates" that shielding pedophiles is being used for the advancement of the Good News, the Kingdom, or some other "worthy" matter.

  Told my JW Story at AA Meeting

  i was invited to be a guest speaker at the saturday night aa speaker's meeting.

  this meeting usually has a large crowd and they get somebody with longtime sobriety to come up and tell his story of "what i used to be like, what happened, and what i'm like now" as an example for others.

  i'll have eight years in january, so i guess that makes me fairly longtime.. i told them:.

  Well, folks, I find myself in the untenable position of being an advocate for a disturbed JW. From what I read in the report, it sounds as though this woman named Hope is not playing with a full deck. We have to cut some slack for the mentally ill. Perhaps at least she didn't beat any children black and blue or molest any either.

  How sad. How very, achingly sad. The woman needs help; I wish the company had helped her get it because the JW's won't.

  I am not sure what the stated or unstated purpose of this forum is. I come here to get different perspectives on the topics posted and, of course, to learn everyone's favorite color, pizza topping, ice cream flavor, sexual position, vacation spot, rock star and a myriad of other personal preferences.

  Welcome to the board, blackguard.

  I personally can't picture C.T. Russell as such a researcher/scholar as he is depicted in your post. He was a haberdasher, a bookkeeper, an accountant. Barbara Grizzuti Harrison, in her book entitled Visions of Glory: a History and a Memory of the Jehovah's Witnesses actually makes a good case for Russell's having turned accounting into a religion by measuring pyramids, counting days/years from Daniel's prophecy, and other numeric manipulations.

  People who start religious cults are rarely, possibly never, serious, scholarly or deep -- just good businessmen and self promoters (IMHO).

  That's my $.02.
