Besides cost savings, smaller assemblies will draw less attention. There may come a time when just as many apostates as JW's are present for assemblies. The number of protestors might outnumber the number of attendees - admittedly, not likely but not as far-fetched as it sounds.

No more big District Conventions?
by serenitynow! inso i went to the hall today for a funeral and took a look at the bulletin board.
i was surprised to see a letter stating the dc for michigan would be held at the local assembly hall instead of the big convention center in ohio where it had been held the past few years.
have you all heard about this?.

A.D. -The Most Important Book Today?
by metatron ini just started reading "a.d. - after disclosure" by richard dolan.
it is an attempt to rationally predict what will ( or would, depending on your viewpoint) happen when authorities around the world admit that extraterrestrials exist and first contact happens.. will markets crash?
will religions collapse?

The universe is so vast that it seems almost unbelievable that there is no other life out there.
The existence of aliens is a lot more plausible than the existence of demons and/or the GB's being all there is between mankind and the God of the Universe!

Getting Your Money Back From The Governing Body For Selling You A Worthless Bunch Goods
by frankiespeakin inwell think about this for a minute what happens when one wills his property or something valueable to the watch tower money grabbing corporation and then finds out the corporation is all based on a crack pot delusion, how can you get your money back if you signed over a deed to them signed a will granting them that.. and what about all our volunteer service to sell books and magazine for them free of charge without any reembersments?.
i mean could this open some interesting lawsuits against them?
and what about all their outrageous lies and horrible treatment they inflict upon the leaveing disbeleiver there might be an angle of some sort of legal action but i'm not a lawyer but i see some legal recousre for money spent while serving the nonprofit corporation because of false advertisements in thier literature..

No doubt the WT has harmed a lot of people, but mostly because we allowed them to. Children born into JW families are the most tragic victims of their inhumane policies. They are a corporation marketing themselves as a "religion," so they are protected from the consequences of ruining people's lives. In the U.S. at least, we have freedom of religion and freely chose to be JW's albeit perhaps without knowing exactly what we were getting into.
A lot of people have lived a lie and bought into schemes, religious and otherwise. Usually, it's best to cut your losses and move on. I regret that I let myself be snookered by the JW's, but it was a phase I had to go through to learn some things and become more wary and less naive. I am just grateful that I didn't join Jim Jones' or David Koresh's cult, or Scientology. We are the lucky ones in certain respects.
Most people who know anything about JW's would envy us the fact that they won't speak to us and don't want us in their bogus "religion."

There is a logical fallacy called "appeal to authority." I think we've just been given an example of it.

Aren't you the same one who is looking for a JW husband? I hope you changed your mind about that. Do you want English-speaking friends?

just curious. How about blood?
by never a jw ini have never been a jw, but i have lived literally surrounded by them since i married my wife, almost 20 years ago.
since i never raised a fuss before, i guess i was also brain-washed into thnking that their religion was harmless and the leaders were well intended.. i have been reading your comments for many months and have come to realize how harmful the religion is.
your comments have been mostly about the pain inflicted by shunning, deception in the literature, and the views on higher education.

Some years ago, there was a story on the national news about a JW woman who died after she refused a post-accident blood transfusion.
I knew this woman in the '60's when I lived in Ohio. I won't post her name.
It was heartbreaking because she was really a nice person.

Someone in here is a mole
by focariedu21 inhy guys the other day my wife had a discussion with her jws brother and he told her that he received all posted material from this site posted by myself and was disgusted with the information.
now that's all fine by me but what i am pissed about is that some one in here from sydney australia is a mole and pretends to be an ex jws while all the while exposing each and every one he knows as in my case.
you are one big coward and one who hides behind a skirt a yellow and a chicken shit whom doesn't have the balls to face me in person because you obviously know who i am.

Is there a mole in WT headquarters doing the writing too?
by never a jw ini apologize if a thread for this has been created already.
i found the following in the awake may 2013, page 13. earlier, in 607 b.c.e., babylonian armies razed jerusalem.
and led most of the survivors into exile.

Are you going to heaven?
by compound complex ingreetings:are you convinced (with all due humility, of course) of your future destination according to religious beliefs?

Back in the '70's, after an assembly, a very sweet, dear sister told me that what her son (about 5 years old at the time) learned from the assembly was that "Mens is the bosses of womens." In fact, the kid's dad had to give the boy a stern talking-to because the child believed he did not have to obey his mother because she was only a woman.
I was a female JW, and I know very well that I was a second-class citizen, if even that.
