I went to the site and copied Jan's thesis to MS Word. Jan is brilliant. I wish he still posted here.

WHAT HAPPENS when a lawyer starts his OWN RELIGION?
by Terry infirst, pastor russell had joined adventist bible students in their enthusiam for end times chronologies.. next, russell teamed up with leading adventist thinkers like george storrs and barbour to publish these chronologies and apologies.. finally, russell used his private wealth to cut and paste ideas from all over the religious map into his own peculiar name-brand version of adventism which included pyramidology.. local congregations kept autonomy.
russell would have it no other way.
but, russell had died in 1916.. .

The scientific method; published, peer reviewed, and repeatable
by jgnat inthat's my definition of reliable, and i am sticking to it, lol.. back in january, scientists started making secret confessions on twitter using the hashtag #overlyhonestmethods.
and now some kind soul (who probably should have been doing their research instead of playing around on the internet) combined a few of these tweets with lab photos for the rest of us to enjoy.... http://twentytwowords.com/2013/06/27/scientists-explain-their-processes-with-a-little-too-much-honesty-17-pictures/.

Hello and my exit story from WTS
by free2Bme13 ini thought it was fitting for me to share my freedom from the witnesses story on independence day weekend.. i dont have any secret info, just experiences that happened to me and started to open my eyes.. i was a third generation, raised in the truth kid who was never supposed to be born, and then never supposed to graduate high school.
ive now been out of high school longer than i was in school.. the beginning of the end started a little less than a decade ago.
i was late 20s at the time.

I'm so sorry, KJ, Grandmothers are a wonderful resource and comfort. I'm sure she's happier now.

Welcome, chris. Your e-mail was very well written as others have stated. There are lots of nice guys in the world. Some are Catholic, Baptist, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, etc. Just because someone is a nice guy, that's no reason to convert to his crazy religion.
Best wishes. Keep coming back.

What piece of WT literature is worth holding onto, or have you kept? Why?
by losingit ini have basically thrown away all of my bound volumes and loose wt and awake magazines.
i kept some bpoks, the insight to the scriptures, god's love, the reasoning book, and daniel's prophecies (this was my favorite) .
i held onto insight to the scriptures after reading some of ray franz's book, crisis of conscience.

Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God because it predicts the end by 1975. There were some Wathtowers and Awakes as well with this "prophecy." I had a copy (don't know if I still have it) of the magazine with "The Generation that Cannot Pass Away" or similar wording.
This is very important for young witnesses who don't believe you when you tell them about 1975. My niece, born in 1975, told me the 1975 thing was made up by individual witnesses. She knows better now and is no longer a dub, I'm happy to report!

When I first left the borg, I moved to another state with a cousin and got a job right away. One time at work, for some reason I can't recall, we were discussing religion, and JW's came up. A co-worker said, "That's a religion that's against everything!" That pretty well sums it up.
JW's want to live in a system that is totally opposite of their own. They want to have freedom of thought (in a limited way, of course), freedom of expression, freedom of religion, but their members are not allowed to enjoy any of these freedoms.
What a bunch of loonies!

A Great Party Last Night.
by Thoughtless inlast night i went to a party with a (worldly) gal yesterday, twas great, but i feel like we are losing intimacy.
i haven't told her about my religion because i am afraid she may judge me or something.
i have a very complicated past and such, and the borg complicates it further.

I'm so glad you had the courage to go to a party and enjoy yourself - and learn something of value!
