When I was in my 20's and 30's and didn't need it, I had a book called Face Lifting by Exercise by Senta Maria Rungé. Ms. Rungé also sold cosmetics she recommended using while doing the facial gyrations. I don't think the book is in print any longer. There should be some books or websites on this topic.

The Watchtower Society Cripples Their Own Preaching Work
by Nosferatu inif there's one scripture that defines the entire purpose of a jehovah's witness's existence, it's matthew 24:14.
"this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.".
this is the entire purpose of going door to door.

Good point, Nosferatu. Would Billy Graham have one of his Crusade sermons pulled from the internet? No. Maybe that's why he has made so many converts. The Catholic mass is on television everywhere. What's the matter with getting their "life-saving message" out to the public. You'd think the WTS itself would put up their dramas on video if they really believe they're worthwhile.
I am one confused apostate.

On Wednesday the 10th, I went to Bally's Casino for tryouts/auditions for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I passed the written test! Then I had to fill out a questionnaire in which I had to try to sound like an interesting person. I did not put down anything about religion, of course.
The next phase was an interview and a photograph. I liked my interviewer, and we seemed to hit it off. However, I know it's impossible to really know what the other person is thinking and how you are perceived by him/her.
I was told that I would get an e-mail within two weeks telling me if I had been chosen as a contestant or not.
Wish me luck!

Anyone busted on apostate site. JCs how are they handled.
by joe134cd ini'm just wondering has any body ever been busted on an apostate site because someone was able to identify them because of something they wrote.
why i ask this question is because how would this be explained at a jc.
because the person who reported it to the jc was reading something that they shouldn't of.

I remember a past poster here who called herself joy2bfree who was hauled before a JC after they read her posts on here. I don't know if someone else turned her in or if the elders were reading this board.

Those scriptures you refer to about God punishing children for the sins of the parents are being misinterpreted by you, I think. I think the verses say that the sins of the fathers will be visited on the sons even to the third and fourth generation. I think that means that when parents don't do the right thing, it has an effect on the children and grandchildren.
For example, if parents don't work and provide for their families, then they go on welfare. They don't get a good education, and it's almost impossible for them to do any better, and on down the generational line this holds true.
I'm not disagreeing with you about how you raised these questions for the JW, but I just wanted to point out that some of your arguments may not be as cogent as they could be. I'm surprised the JW didn't explain this problem the way I did. I don't think they know much about the Bible anymore.

Are You Interested In Religion Of Any Sort At This Point In Your Life?
by minimus inpersonally, i respect that everyone has choices to believe whatever they want to believe.
i have no interest in joining another religion....what about you?.
-
Mum
My grandparents were very religious, and I was indoctrinated by the JW's from the age of 9. While I don't buy into all of the dogma, I am fascinated by religion itself. It amazes me that people argue more over the unknowable than anything they really have to deal with in daily life. I believe that religion does help some people, that it is a detriment and a burden to others.
Occasionally, I go to church. I find that I feel better afterwards, i.e., spiritually uplifted and ready to face the challenges of daily life once more. I don't know if it is because I grew up with religion, or if I have a genetic predisposition to religious experience.
If Taoism is a religion, I love its book, The Tao te-Ching. Reading it centers me, calms me, makes me feel acceptance of what is and contentment with my circumstances in life.
