So true. When I was losing my mind and about to break free, I recall realizing that I had been a better person in every way before I was a JW. It's nice to be me again.

Being a Witness results in selfish and self centered people!
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed that many witnesses are very self centered and selfish people as a result of "leaving everything in god's hands to correct".
what i mean is, because "the kingdom will fix poverty, the homeless, poor, underpriveleged, etc...." it means they can just pass by those in need, or fulfill their natural human desire to help (if they have it) by just giving literature!.
so, just preach to those in need, and then you can feel good and smug about yourself!.

Years ago, I took the test from the book Please Understand Me by Kiersey and Bates. I was an INTP.
Later, I had the test professionally administered. I was an INXP, i.e. I move between the T and the F. I think most people have a duality on at least one of the four items.
My daughter tells me I don't think like other people, and I like that.

Dr. Laura recommends that Jews not marry outside their faith. She says things can be fine until there is a child. Then there can be conflict about religion the child will be taught. If you are strongly religious and not Jewish, and are young enough to have children, there may need to limit how far the relationship goes.
That having been said, I understand that inter-religious marriages are now threatening Judaism more than persecution ever did.
A lot depends on the individuals, of course. Have you talked to her about her commitment to her religion?

JW Kids Who Lack Sincerity: Are You In The Flipping Truth Or Not?
by Apognophos indid any of you know a jw youth who didn't seem to really even try to be sincere about the "truth"?
not someone who led a double life while pretending to be a goody-goody jw.
i mean the kind of kid who went to the meetings and did field service while making minimal effort at maintaining a pretense of being a true believer?.

When I was 15, I became a JW publisher. That was in 1963. I was the only JW in my family, including extended family. My buddies at the KH were going through their rebellious period. I don't think any of them really disbelieved the nonsense, but they did write hilarious notes to one another during the meetings. I remember having Beatles bubble gum cards at the meetings, and one of the girls I sat with wrote funny captions on them. They would also make fun of some of the older people in the congreation and write phony letters from them, highlighting their weaknesses.
All but three of them (myself included) for sure are staunch JW's today. I looked up one of the guys on google, and he is listed as a "religious leader, Jehovah's Witnesses." There were two fleshly sisters in our group, one of whom was responsible for the Beatkes card captions and mocking letters. I found their mom's obituary online, and it was clear that they were still JW's.
Teenagers can't be taken so seriously. The human brain is not fully developed until the mid-20's.
I feel for the kids who have no choice in the matter. They're doing what's expected by others. They have no power but to be mouthy or appear rebellious.

Assembly News Photo
by snare&racket inthis photograph from a news site is a succinct summary of a life in wt's hands....... look at their faces, it says it all.. also, note the watchtower pr machine in action, explaining that it brings 4 million dollars to the location.
(10,000 x 400 dollars) clearly a watchtower statistic, where is the care and interest for members who are struggling so much, with new videos encouraging less career activity, less work commitments, at an all time economic low for our generation.. http://www.standard-freeholder.com/2014/06/15/thousands-attend-watchtower-convention-in-cornwall.
father: "i'm a wt 'yes' man and proud of it!

I'm impressed by the color coordination. Are hot pink ties appropriate for brothers? My heart goes out to them.

I read a couple of Harry Potter books and listened to several on CD's. The reason I did was that my granddaughter was reading them. She was always more of a social butterfly than a readier, so I wanted to see what about these particular books appealed to her. I enjoyed reading the books very much, probably because I love rooting for the underdog! They are worthwhile and offer some wisdom to the reader.

Israelites as "examples for modern witnesses"??
by stuckinarut2 init amazes me how the gb and witnesses keep using the ancient isrealites as examples for modern day "servants of god" (read: good witnesses).
how can an ignorant, ancient people who worshipped with animal sacrifices, went to war, killed children, stoned people, treated women as property, called women unclean due to normal body cycles, allowed polygamy, etc......be used as good examples?.
i mean, the gb can't have it both ways!

On the old H2O discussion board, a JW apologist posted the story of David and Bathsheba and "Jehovah's" forgiveness, and posed the question as to what we learn about "Jehovah" from the story. My reply was that "Jehovah" must surely have an inordinate fondness for bad boys.
Apparently, that was the wrong answer.

How We Come Across On The Board
by minimus inmost people here have never met you.
we converse, discuss, argue, laugh, agree, question, share our lives..... quite often, you kind of get to know what a person is like.
some people, we tend to gravitate to and others, we shy away from.. how do you think you come across to other people?

I have no Real Friends!

i have always been extremely active in every aspect of the org, since childhood.

To make friends, you have to meet people. I suggest volunteer work, joining a club, taking a class, or any activity where you interact with others. It's just a matter of time. Life - be in it!

This new JW video is so stupid that it has to be a troll
by Pacopoolio inrecently, my mother, who had stopped talking to me because i was 'apostate,' started speaking to me again.. (note that i successfully faded as opposed to ever being disfellowshipped due to dodging every elder question with "i'm not sure, i'm still searching and trying to find the answers.").
the reason why?
at the international convention this year, they receieved a new video called something or other.

Who else but the WT could take a situation that would be ideal (except for the debt) and make it into a crisis. Here we have a healthy family with talent, intelligence, and educational opportunity! They are actually developing their talent and accepting reality. What a horror!
