i noticed in a couple of threads people discussing the impact this board would have on jw's with doubts coming here and reading the messages.
it got me to wondering where most people that post here were at...what stage in their jw/ex jw process...when they started reading and/or posting here.
also curious, when you did come here what was your main focus?
I left the org in 1979. My daughter discovered H2O in 1997. Both of us posted there sporadically. After it went offline, I was at a loss for a while. One day I was checking out something at freeminds.org and saw a link to this board. Many of the H2O posters are here now, so I felt at home right away.

the wtbs in the uk and all the relevant congregations have introduced a 10 charge for anyone wishing to see their personal files and info held under the data protection act.
information includes publisher record cards, s77 forms, specialised sheperding lists and so on.. i presume that this just applies to the uk.
does anyone know of any other countries that have started to apply charges?.
It seems that you could come out ahead if you pay the 10 pounds, then sue for millions after letting your attorney in on the contents.

rhett: Go to the Episcopal Church. If too much communion wine is prepared, it has to be consumed after the service. Usually the ladies on the altar guild get chosen to do the consuming. I used to love the altar guild!
Mulan: I see Fred changing. He's quite different on this forum than he was on H2O. His progress out of the org is slow because he's a bit stubborn, but he knows in his heart of hearts that he feels much more at home and accepted here than at the KH.

Oh, yes, the meeting did go well! You were like surgeons exposing the diseased reality underneath the charming smiles and affability. You had them pretty darn scared; otherwise why would they have had one of their legal wackos on the line.

how do you feel about the people who helped convert you into a jehovahs witness?.
are you angery toward them or do you view it as more your fault?.
did they pester you and persist in calling , was it politeness that made you speak to them?.
They were very nice. I idealized them a lot, as I was only 9 years old when I first met them. Looking back now, I feel sad for them. They were well off and had a good life, but their relationship with their children and neighbors could have been much better if they had not been JW's.

well all bea helped me get my pic posted, but i am not sure if i like it.
it is from this summer and i was just hanging out at the mall of america with my friend, so i have my glasses on and i could look better, but anywho...it gives you an idea what i look like.

I don't have the courage to put up my real face on a photo because I have family still "on the inside." They probably know this is me if they lurk here, but I'm still chicken. They still speak to me and I'd like to keep it that way.

its 2002. and bernard is having a feild day as an ex jw the past two years.. my wife and kids are going to the circuit assembly tommorrow and.
I'm sorry about the rift in your family. I do hope you understand the difference between your wife's choice to be a JW and your children's going along because they have no choice.
I hope you show unconditional love to your children and find opportunities to do things with them that will give them fond and happy memories of being with you.

I think you can still be there emotionally and otherwise for your family. You can still be your mom's ride to the assemblies, etc., but at the same time you can be slowly fading away. I wouldn't hesitate to make excuses such as headaches (this might be literally true anyway), being tired, having chronic fatigue syndrome. I know it sounds sissy, but it does serve the purpose of not hurting others.
Maybe your talks and conversations can contain tiny tidbits of information that might start them to thinking.
The others here have given you some great perspective, and others have been in your situation, so are better able to speak to your situation. Best wishes, whatever path you choose. Keep coming back here for support.

has anyone out there had experience of working for or with jws?.
is it just me, or are they the worst people to work with....they "use" anybody for their own ends, they expect everyone else to make allowances for their life style but are not prepared to make allowances for anyone else's, they do as little as they can for as long as they can and have absolutely no loyalty to their employers or fellow workers!!.
my recent experience is that they also will be "economical" with the truth (the real truth), as long as it benefits them.. maybe i'm a bit biased, but i would never want to work with or for another witness ever again!
Hi, Ivor. Welcome to the forum.
JW's are many different individuals, so I can't say all of them would not be good to work with. They are just doing their best to follow their leaders, which is not in their own or anyone else's best interests in most cases.
