I said "simple," not "single." But I am single. I am a divorced grandmother, free at last -- free from domestic tyrrany and borg control freakiness -- and loving it!

Wow, comfy, you're almost making me nostalgic for field service -- not in general, but on the days when we would drive out to the rural territory. We would pack huge deli sandwiches, bananas, grapes, apples, potato salad if the cooler was big enough, homemade cookies and cakes, and munch all day long as we drove from one farmhouse to another and waited in the car for whichever of us was designated to go to the next house.
Those mid-morning coffee breaks at Krispy Kreme were great, too. Lots of householders loved to give me lemonade and cookies or iced tea or other treats, too. Yum!

Thanks for taking Farkel's derisive question about what's your favorite flavor, pizza topping or whatever and turning it into a "non-fluff" post! Wish I had your skill.
BTW, I love vanilla. I'm just a simple gal with simple tastes. The world needs a few of us so the fancier people will stand out more.

can't understand why people can't see .
by Curyus ini don't understand why people can't see the truth when it's right there in the bible in black & white.
you can't change it to fit your personal lifestyle or modify it by only applying what intrest or benefits you.
the wt organization has its place just like all the other secular laws have theres to protect & guide us.

We CAN see -- right past the pathetic bullies and mind controllers who hold a carrot in front of our eyes which we will never get. If you stick around a while, maybe you will widen your perspective and vision as well.
If you need the security blanked of an organization to tell you what is appropriate for you, then that's what you need. I wish you well. If you wish, however, you can learn to evaluate things for yourself and draw your own conclusions. There is no one-size-fits-all answer for everybody. I'd rather have questions that cannot be answered than to have answers that cannot be questioned.

Help and suggestions
by JG ini just got off of the phone with my wife, and she's been researching my beliefs (catholic) and wants to discuss what she's found.
several subjects like marion worship, sacrifice of the mass etc.
i told her sure i'll discuss them with you, but i get equal time to discuss problems with your religion.. to make a short story long she agreed but she wants me to discuss important things things i fear may put her in jeapordy spiritually.

Sean, I am also a bit unclear about your post. It sounds like your wife is a JW and you are a Catholic, and the two of you are going to have some sort of theological dialogue about the issues each has with the other's religion.
I suggest you talk to a priest about both kinds of theology before you approach the subject with your wife.

Kohlberg's stages of moral development
by Mum inlawrence kohlberg, harvard professor emeritus, identified six stages of moral development classified into three levels:.
level 1: pre-conventional - the stages are (a) obedience and punishment and (b) individualism, instrumentalism and exchange.
level 2: conventional - the stages are (c) "good boy/girl" and (d) law and order.

Yes, Carmel, Abraham Maslov (Maslow?) delineated a heirarchy of needs (not moral development) from the basics of food and shelter to self-actualization, but I can't recall all of them right now. Dr. Wayne Dyer, whose writings helped me free myself from the JW's as well as a very controlling, twisted, sick family, names Maslov(w?) as his mentor as well.

Lawrence Kohlberg, Harvard professor emeritus, identified six stages of moral development classified into three levels:
Level 1: Pre-conventional - The stages are (a) obedience and punishment and (b) individualism, instrumentalism and exchange
Level 2: Conventional - The stages are (c) "good boy/girl" and (d) law and order
Level 3: Post-conventional - The stages are (e) social contract and (f) finally, principled conscience
A summary I found at http://www.nd.edu/~rbarger/kohlberg.html explains that the first level is generally found at the elementary school level, with obedience given because of fear of punishment; in stage (b) above, the individual's behavior is seen as acting in his/her own best interest.
The "conventional" (Level 2) is what is found in most societies, with (c) "good boy/girl," i.e. seeking approval and (d) law and order, being law abiding and duty conscious.
"Post conventional" (Level 3), according to Kohlberg, is not reached by most people. It consists of (e) a "social contract" ("an understanding of social mutuality and a genuine interest in the welfare of others") and (f) "respect for universal principle and demands of individual conscience."
When I first learned about Kohlberg in a Psychology class I took, I immediately thought of how, as a JW, I was doomed to an elementary school mentality forever because of the spying, tattling, and threats of punishment.
I have made good progress. Hope you have, too.

My Mom Won't Shun Me!
by voltaire ini feel a little guilty about this, because i know that so many of you have lost contact with your families, but i thought you might find it interesting that my mother has told me, via my father, that she won't shun me even if i'm df (which is a very real possibility).
i'm not coming out unscathed (does anybody?
) since my marriage is set to end in the next couple of weeks, but i'm so grateful that i'll still have my mom.

I feel for all of the dubs who stay in when they desperately want out because of their family ties. It's a lot more difficult, I'm sure, when the whole family is in. We are blessed indeed who had a "pre-dub existence" and have something to go back to after we've learned by being burned in the pit of Hell known as the Watchtower.

Just my perspective. Regards,
