I grew up as a witnness, and was baptised, but currently not attending. recently a witness woman stopped by my house. She offered the magazines. I cannot continue subscribing to the mags, So she said she would be stopping by every couple weeks or so. During our brief conversation, She spoke of how the events of 9-11-01 did not really surprise her. I think she was trying to speak on behalf of the witnesses as a whole. As I looked at her I thought about how cold, unloving a statement that was to me. As if these events "prove" the witnesses have the truth. I feel bad for those who lost loved ones there. I think I don't need to continue receiving those mags anymore.

A good question to make JWs 'think'
by Simon inmost of us have experienced the frustration of trying to convince a friend or relative that the wts is not what it claims: an organisation backed by 'god'.. of course, it is very difficult to prove a negative and a real die-hard believer will explain-away any evidence of wrongdoing by the org.
as they are trained to do so well.. i have found it good to reverse the question and ask them:.
"what would the wts have to do to convince you that it wasn't god's organisation?".

Devon, I feel the question is an excellent one. Ishould have stated that in my reply. Your experience with the witnesses and mine are very different. I grew up being a witness, and in my experience I can say that most all witnesses believe wholeheartedly that theres is the true religeon.

Sometimes I think it wouldn't matter what the question would be. The serious witness would follow the watchtower. My dad is not baptized, but backs the witnesses. One time I asked him, If you thought the color of a wall was black, and all those around you thought it was white, would you still believe it was black? He said, Probably not. Now, If my dad surrounds himself with nothing but witnesses, they will have him believe anything, even if he thinks its wrong in his own mind. He will think there is something wrong with him and not the others.
"What would the WTS have to do to convince you that it wasn't God's organisation"
(expected response)
Nothing they could ever do would show me they are wrong. If I ever questioned anything to the contrary, I would be desperstely in need of help. They are Gods organization, nothing will ever change Gods decision on who the true religeon is.

Any witness who I could talk to about a problem, and saw that they really cared , instead of giving the old textbook answer. I could see it in there eyes.

Do We CHOOSE to be depressed?
by Crystal inthe answer to that question is yes!!
we always want the easy way out , a pill, a religion , a shrink to make us happy.no one can make you happy but you.start taking control of your own life and your own brain and stop depending on others.

Thoughts on the Columbine Tragedy
by SYN inhope the word "columbine" is spelled right in this post .
today i read an article on rense.com (an excellent website for all conspiracy theorists) where a parent was moaning about mtv, and the influence it was having on american children and other children.
apparently, mtv is bad for your morals or something.

SYN, Interesting story. I share your thought that "doom" was not guilt-free, but others also entered in. Isn't it amazing, How some teachers in high school or middle school , feel that they cannot be challenged? Even when they are obviously wrong, they are still adamant that they are right. I call it the "teachers complex". Because they are the teacher, THEY CANNOT BE WRONG! A good teacher knows when to shut up and learn. Maybe they don't realize that most of what they are teaching is greatly appreciated by the class, and there is no threat to them.
