Imagine a public school teacher having elementary aged children (5 - 12 years) engaging in these activities, albeit stripped of any religious context.
It's just gruesome.
At the very least, the teacher would be censured and subject to discipline if not termination.

nine of us walked and ran to bring attention to the issue of shunning.

An additional point you may want to consider: an individual deciding on their own to shun another person such as in your example ( the case of a child who was sexually molested by an adult family ) is clearly NOT the same as the forced, institutional shunning as dictated by the WTBTS and as practiced by JWs.
R&F JWs have no choice as to whether or not to shun a DF'd of DA'd individual without suffering sactions themselves. It is this aspect, I think, which so many find offensive.

i then had the audacity to send a text message to all four jw's nephews/nieces (in their mid 20's).
i offered my opinion by summarizing it "put and shut up".

But first, they don't think they have a problem so you'll never get them to seek help; and second, given their aversion to psychologists and psychiatrists they'd never go to one of them.
So, should the Governing Body seek professional treatment? Yes
Will they? No
... depressing if you are the governing body that is.. the australian census figures from 2011 are available.
this is taken every 5 years, and i have been doing a comparison over the last 15 year period.
for 2001 and 2006 the number of jw's fell in australia, but this time it has risen, which jws may find encouraging.

i'm sure many of us still remember these times when the organization used to sell food at conventions.. i also remember that when this was stopped, the official reason was that the "brothers" were missing some of the program because of all the preparations.
typical watchtower "pretend we care" excuse.. i've wondered if there is another reason behind it, tied to perhaps finances or logistics that was the real deciding factor.
history and typical "modus operandi" of the society tells me that if there was some money to be made that way, they would not have stopped.. wonder if anybody has more info on this..

last night i gave a comment at the bible highlights, i never comment anymore unless i can say something that might plant a small seed in someones mind.. anyways the bible reading was mark 5-8. my comment was, "i appreciated mark 7:6-8 where it reads he said to them: isiah aptly prophesied about you hypocrites for it is written, this people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far removed from me.
