MICHIGAN PEOPLE!!!...Multi-millionaire witness Pat Patterson.....
by integ inanyone heard of this guy?.
he built up an insurance agency in michigan, and sold it for over 10 million dollars.. apparently, at his big office in novi, michigan, he only hires witnesses and they are all making big bucks.. i know an agent who was going to work for him in another state (they do business in 10 states i think), but declined to sign up when he found out the organization was owned and operated by witnesses.. he said: "that explains the ridiculously low commissions they pay their agents".
they sell alot of life insurance.. why would this witness owned agency push life insurance if the end is so near???.

ISLAM: A RELIGION OF PEACE?
by freyd in2006 worldnetdaily.com http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?article_id=52736.
it's the secret question in official washington, d.c., in the pentagon, and in the white house.
it's the question that is so radioactive that most in government and the press dare not even pose it, let alone answer it: .

"Religion is not truth."
I agree with this statement completely. I do not feel a person needs to belong to ANY organized religion to have grace, mercy, whatever from God.
The Bible and Quran both say basically that belief in God (vs not -as we do see atheism growing - see latest WIRED magazine) is what God will be looking for at the judgement period/armageddon -- whatever.
I didn't feel disrespected...thanks for your concern/tact. :)

I know it sounds lameass -- but unfortuately almost all the people that call themselves 'muslim' today -- do not follow or have a clue what the Quran teaches as real Islam.
Oh yeah - everyone can quote all the war mongering ayat in the Quran -- but how about all the war in the OT? To me it is all the same -- I never stopped reading the Bible because of all that -- I just let it go in one ear and out the other. I do the same with those verses in the Quran as well. I believe they applied to the time in which it was written - just like the OT.
I call myself muslim - because that is what people who accept the Quran are called...but I am not a mainstream or right or left wing muslim.....in fact I am like my life after JW -- an outsider looking in....I pick and choose what parts of the ideology I think are wholesome and bag the rest.
Except for JW -- Islam is the only other religion to my knowledge - that teach that there is only one GOD -- not a Trinity or whatever -- which I just cannot logically accept -- and that doesn't teach that GOD = Jesus -- and yet still acknowledge Jesus for the special person that he was. Yes Muslims go on and on about Mohammed -- but actually this is forbidden in the Quran. It states specifically that all prophets are to be treated equal.
The ONLY way Islam will spread -- will be if people stop looking at the Muslims to find out what it is all about.
I understand people thinking Islam is a pot of crock...if you look at most of the people -- IT IS!! I have had the advantage of wanting to learn about it for the SOLE reason of understanding my bf/now husband - at the time. I found there was more there than meets the eye.
just my 2 cents worth.

Thinking like a Jehovah's Witness would think
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 {font-size: 14px} .style2 {font-family: arial, sans-serif} .style3 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; } .style4 {color: #a2554d} .style5 {color: #0084bc} .style6 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #aa5c52; } .style7 { color: #0084bc; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; } .style9 {font-weight: bold} --> thinking like a jehovah's witness would think on a prior discussion thread a couple of individuals pointed out.
to me, that i am more or less infected with "witness" think.
other words, i still think like a jehovah's witness.

It is a comfort to know that I am not the only one who - dispite whatever religious name I put on myself - still thinks like a JW first - and then make a conscience effort to rethink it - like through my husband's eyes - or through any friends eyes - whatever background they may have -- rethink it again - analyze it with the other views -- in columns....and rows....:) ~~~ by the time I am done -- the need for the thought is long gone....heh

How do I explain my Jehovah's Witness past to a potential mate?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 {font-family: arial, sans-serif} .style2 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; } .style4 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #89490c; } .style5 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #848a2a; } .style7 {font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #89490c; font-size: 14px; } .style8 {font-size: 14px} --> explaining my jehovah's witness past to a potential mate all things considered, this is the one thing that bothers me tremendously.. so much so, that it has kept me out of the dating scene let alone to be.
properly wed. .

Wanderer,
As others have said - most people could care less. You may get a response like oh really?! -- and then the conversation will go whatever way you want it to. Resist the urge to continue with your explanation...:)
I usually say I was a JW for 35 years but I got over that ..haha -- and move on.
You will find someone and be happier than you could imagine - but try to relax and take it easy on yourself. You are neither second rate goods for having been a JW - nor does that past make you the 'cat's meow'. (no disrespect intended).
Best of wishes in your search.

Welcome freegirl! As those that know me on this board will attest - I don't say much often. But I am so glad that you found this piece of paradise, because I know you are in the best of hands. I have been helped so very much by everyone here, either by reading the posts and/or by all the warmth, caring and I love received when posting a heart breaking experience I went through recently. Relax and feel free when you are here. You truly are among friends - friends who will never judge you - but will love you for who you are. :)
